If some else is wondering what the small spring is for: It's for the laser mount. Jörg explains it in one of his videos. With it you can adjust the laser right to the point of the gunsight for accurate aiming 👍🏻
Not arrows..... bolts.... and Joerg demos fixing the fletching using a hairdryer.... Thanx for the vid!.... I just placed an order for the Sept2020 shipment! 🤪
I don’t get it... He bought the wrong arrows... The red arrows are for the R9 series crossbow Not recommended for the RX Adder series crossbow. You need to buy the blue arrows which cost maybe $2 more per pack for the RX Added.
Use a bolt to push the pins out in the field is easy. The laser IS accurate if you sight it in after the red dot so they both coincide on the target. EK and Jorg tell you not to use the red aluminium bolts. You can make your own. Broadheads do fit if they are 2 bladed. You need to watch Jorg's videos where he explained all this in detail. And finally, if you fire into a target so soft that the bolts penetrate half way up the flights, you didn't expect damage??
Awesome step by step of assembly also 4 the extra accessorie needed to complete the scope and and about the 7.5 red arrows u can get extra by buying them besides the one's that come with it and the problems of use of the arrows I wonder if u change the tip of the arrows larger would that make a difference of longer strength and use with them?
Great review. One question, though, I thought the *both* alan wrench screws were needed on the dot sight? I thought the larger screw was so you can't misplace the sight too far back on the picc rail. Or am I being stupid?
Thanks for the video, just bought mine and wondered what that piece was (replacement stock pad). Mine was set up opposite to yours my first bolt went about a foot low, one turn of the screw and dead center. Unfortunately the one that went low, ended up in the target frame and I can't get it out.
Makes me wonder for those who want to use or fletch fishing bolts. The magazine is optional for anyone who want to deliver as close to a harpoon for a long fishing bolt while not wanting to go harpoon fishing.
I intentionally mounted the red dot further on so the rubber cap and battery would not get knocked off and lost (its easy to take off)...those bolts are for an R9 not an RX. You have to sight in the red dot...then you have a good gun.
I agree 100% with pushing the red dot fully on the rail so the battery case is securely covered. And, for heaven sake use both bolts to mount the sight! It's a very small thing to remove this item to replace the battery.. just remove the front screw, loosen the back screw and pop it off...
This guy needs to get hired by gogun to make tutorial videos. So clear and succinct! I am thinking about purchasing this or the Fenrir, any thoughts in terms of versatility and quality?
Apart from not knowing what he's talking about you mean? Jorg already made videos covering all this and more that this guy obviously didn't watch on The slingshot channel on here.
The high penetration field tips go in easy enough and definitely break bone. However, they also pull out easy without doing damage. The broad heads go in easy enough and will cause extreme damage if pulled out. However, I'm not sure if they have bone crushing power like the field tips, so it's really a personal preference.
Im not Mike but allow me to answer please... a broadhead tip will leave a more devastating wound much like an expanding hollow point bullet verses a solid bullet....
Gogun did reply on the ammo and on using broad head tips. Although Jorge says it can be used for it and there is a wide opening for the broad head, EK Archery and Gogun has now replied stating that the crossbow is NOT intended for broad head tips. They also stated that the red vane arrows are NOT for the Cobra because they are plastic, not carbon. However, I find them to shoot just fine. These are the arrows I've been modifying with screw on broad head tips. (You have to grind about 1/16" off the wide tip to make sure there is zero friction when loading.). The arrows must be cut down (shortened) to make this work. However, the broad head (for me) is only for self defense and I don't use them for practice. With the few that I have shot - as proof of concept - I found them to shoot a little high and to the right (6"-8") of the field tip arrows. Not sure why.
@@eduardelric The Bodkin bolts are really made of thin arrow 7.6mm with .244 insert carbon stock capable of up to 90 lbs of thrust. This is NOT made for the Cobra RX Adder spec, which is 130 lbs of thrust. True crossbow stock is made for that thrust, but the Cobra Adder (ammo holder) is too thin to hold the fatter crossbow shaft.
Mike Hockett I made my own modification of the original blue vane bolts. Using 2sided broad heads, witch are not that wide (Carbon express F1). They stack up fine as I cut them shorter, however now and then they do jam when rapid firing. Not very reassuring, they will jam up 3 out 10 times . This crossbow is not made for broad heads that’s my 2 cents, Jorge said this will accept broad heads ?? He should make a video proving that (I don’t mean bodkin tips I want to see proper boras heads)
No, they are metal and the entire gun is really a good quality, but is extremely proprietary. For example, you cannot use arrows thicker than 7.6mm. Crossbow bolts/arrows are 8.8mm and they are too thick to fit in the top arrow holder (the "Adder"). They even lock you into buying arrows from them because half moon nocks, which have to be used in any crossbow configuration, can only be bought to fit the larger crossbow bolts. You can NOT find half moon nocks to fit in a 7.6mm arrow which takes .244 nocks. Crossbow nocks are .299 and .300. Therefore, you HAVE to buy the arrows from GoGun or make your own. GoGun arrows are close to $5 each and will take months to get to you - if they ever get them back in stock. Stay tuned. I've ordered the goods and will be demonstrating.
Received today 04-01-2020 via email from Gogun ------------------------------------------ We only recommend the replacement arrows designed for the adder with the blue fletching item no. 1000541 Other arrows can damage the crossbow, which will void the warranty. Mit freundlichen Grüßen Lasse Adam --------------------------------------- So if you're making your own arrows because you can't get arrows from Germany, you're on your own...
@@nickkablokje i bought it after watching jorges videos. spent about a 1000 with all the add on stuff, extra arrows, vanes, knocks, scope and other stuff. it shoots ok if holding it.but with a bi pod and theres sucks,by the way. the adder has a little wiggle room. this causes inaccurate shots because of the force the bow has. been trying to think of a modification but can only decrease the wiggle i cant make it solid. also the springs used for the arm that pushes down the arrows is to weak after 3 shots.you gotta look to make sure the arrows positioned correctly. its not what i thought it was when buying.turned out to be an expensive toy. if you already bought one, good luck
Why in the world did you not use the front clamping bolt on the red dot? It's a standard mount for the picatinny rail. There is no reason at all to remove it.
Firstly it's not a gun.Second, the red/orange bolts are fine loading into the MAGAZINE coz I bought them. The different tips you don't like fit okay on the blue flighted bolts as they're slightly shorter. Also you can fire a broad head fine if it's the first bolt in the 'clip'. Nice try on the video. I really wanted to know if they all the way tighten the screw on the string stopper to stop the bow slipping when/if knocked.... I knocked mine lol
you want to be careful with the R9 bolts, these are designed for the 90LB power where the RX adder is 130LB. you want to get the RX adder bolts, you dont want to risk under firing or dry firing due to the less weight on the R9 bolts. apart from that great review and some helpful tips
Coming up with a video to show how to build carbon bolts for the R9 Adder. Even their factory blue vane bolts are NOT rated for 130lb. They are thin 7.6mm (.244 insert) carbon shafts only good to 90lbs. They don't use crossbow bolts (8.8mm with .299 inserts) rated at better than 130lbs.
it seems to me that you are making a big mistake to mix the parts of different arrows, which are also designed for different weapons; the red ones, lighter, are for a hand crossbow (less powerful). Would you try to shoot 22 " cal. bullets in a 9mm pistol? ... or vice versa?. The red and blue arrows can be shot in the rx adder, they are fairly cheap ... the vanes you show are damaged because you shot in to a weak target... can be fixed whit a heat gun...
Have you thought about making these arrows for ppl & selling them yourself you could turn it in to a business some ppl dont have the stuff to make them & i would definitely be interested in buying them from you
Received today 04-15-2020 regarding your ability to buy the proprietary half moon nocks as replacements. Remember, the nocks are .244 in size and fit arrows, not standard crossbow bolts. Secondly, a .244 half moon nock does NOT exist anywhere in the world - except the Cobra RX Adder! (Think about that for a minute...) Secondly, I made a follow up video where I tried to make Cobra arrows out of standard crossbow shafts (which use .299 and .300 inserts)... and the Cobra RX design specs were SO TIGHT that they will NOT accept crossbow shafts. The tiny difference in thickness is too big/fat to fit in the Adder! Since I couldn't half .244 moon nocks, I asked GoGun if I could buy the nocks from them. This was their reply... ------------------------------------- Dear Customers, the replacement nocks will be available for order in the future. An exact date when the articles are available is currently not known to us, please contact us again in 1-2 months. Mit freundlichen Grüßen Lasse Adam ------------------------------------- So there you go! Stay tuned for my video on making your own - out of standard .244 nock stock! I have a feeling that GoGun and EK Archery produced a great gun with very little thought for the arrows that go in them... If they would have designed the Adder (and the arrow groove on the gun) to be 1mm thicker, this would have been truly a GREAT gun, but... Not really sure what they were thinking. Hugely restricting!
On the other hand, that information will be useful for DIY bolt fletchers who understand the limits of warranty and know how to take care of a crossbow beyond service life expectancy. While these are short bolts, the magazine is detachable for those who want to use long bolts or bolts with different head profiles.
Hey! My new video is out showing how to build your own Cobra RX Arrows for $2.40 each in just about 5 minutes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-obdcgIV_AFM.html
