Hate to tell you but those quick disconnects are creating a choke point on the interior diameter of the tubing. Therefore, slowing or diminishing the flow-rate of the cooling fluid. This has to be creating not only diminished cooling but also additional head pressure on the pump.
You can now order prefilled waterblocks with QDC at their store. The 240mm version is also now available with QDC. So basically you can get full loop for 400-450 euros.
I learned more about the types of water cooling and configurations in this video than in like a year being subscribed to many tech RU-vidrs (like Jayztwocents). Really liked this video. PS: Seems like I gotta hide the comment section for future videos I'm watching for obvious reasons.
It's kinda hard to see how clean the build was due to the reflection of the table and packaging off the chassis window. It would have been nice to have the window panel off or light up the inside of the case to offset studio lighting.
This is pretty revolutionary, now people can build high end custom watercooling equal performing systems without the difficulties of building a custom waterloop.
I'm an engineering student and I'm pretty impressed by Linus' knowledge about product specifications and details. I've never seen anyone get so far as to discuss the proper diameter of the tubes. Haha. Other tech channels on youtube don't give as much information compared to Linus. NCIX is so lucky they got a great asset.
I would've bought this in a heartbeat if it were around when I built my rig! The corsair H110 was the next best thing to a custom setup when I was building :)
Despite what Linus said in the video, I think in most cases the Swiftech H220/240x will probably fit in more cases. The Predator is longer than a regular rad which, I think, will will make it fit in less mounting spots than the extra half-thickness of the Swiftech coolers.
I priced the parts and it is at least $50 USD cheaper than individually buying the parts. That doesn't take into account the need for a reservoir on a custom loop, the fan controller, tubing and is for a basic DDC pump.
I find that I am looking more to Actual Customer reviews these days as they are what count. Opening up the box to a new product and have a quick test and look just doesn't cut it anymore.. Only 1 customer review on amazon.com of the 240 at the moment. Hope we start to see more as I would like to get the 360 this side of Xmas but just waiting to see what Day1'ers think ...
This is the kind of AIO CPU cooler I've been hoping for...except for the high price. I think version 2.0 will be even better, assuming there is one. That may be when I'm able to afford it.
Your best bet if you get one of these is to get a seperate res and add it into the loop off the bat! Making filling the system a lot easier in the process :)
Im surprised more people arent pissed that EK didnt include screws that work with all MOBOs.... EKs actual solution to this problem is to order 4 screws....rather then just put 4 screws in the box.
I have the EK 240 Predator ,but have to get a new case as it was to big for my current case .Going with the Phanteks Evolv ATX .But nice to see it fits in the Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5
To all those who are saying "I only watch NCIX because of Linus" you know too much of something makes you begin to hate it, so watch out guys...BTW great water cooler.
i built a itx build for my friend in the rosewill neutron...(not the smallest itx chassis) he picked out a CM 240 to mount on the top of it it even seemed like it had room for push pull behind the gpu...I hope EK makes these in 280 i want to make a build in that neutron as well but i had no idea near all of its fan mounts were 140-120.
Is it just me, or are the reviews getting more detailed in the last months or so? Keep that :) also with Furmark and Intel brn in Test these are not idle temps anymore ;)
With things like the FuryX coming water cooled stock, an all in one solution easy for dummies, water cooling for PCs is the future. This device seems big though, surely if the FuryX can be cooled by a much smaller radiator, couldn't a CPU stay cool from it too? The FuryX just takes up a normal fan slot (It's thick, but it doesn't take 3 spaces like this!)
There are smaller water cooling radiators. This is not the only one available on the market. There's the Corsair H60 for instance which is a 120mm AIO cooler.
+Iced Eskimo Not to mention that Asetek will sue anyone that tries to put the pump on the coldplate (Coolermaster has been sued for the Fury X cooler design). And the DDC pump on the Predator is of vastly higher quality than the pumps seen on both the Fury X cooler and typical (Asetek) all-in-one coolers.
Iced Eskimo I know, In that part I was mainly commenting toward the odd market place this one fits in, since linus acted like it was something special. As for Asetek, they can shove it.
Whoever put the captions in the video fucked up. "Low" temperature should say load temperature, and "45 Idle and 51 Idle is not IDLE thats under LOAD.... since linus said "Worst case scenario"
"So let's find out if it's the kind of predator you'd want inside your house, like a cat. Vs the kind of predator you wouldn't want inside your house...like Anthony." SAVAGE
I really do like it as an AIO. But not as an expanding unit. If youre really looking to expand your loop, youre probably going to end up doing a custom loop anyway. Especially if youre trying color match. I asked EK if they would make different color tubes like clear or white and said id have to just buy them aftermarket. Soooooo wtf? Also if you want a different color or style waterblockmthats another 70 to 120 dollars. So tbh as an expanding unit you're better off doing a loop from scratch and picking all of the colors and styles you want and its cheaper.
Reinventing the wheel when it comes to water cooling systems is defiantly not what Ek did here.... Reinventing the wheel when it comes to air cooling for example would be what Apple did with their Mac pro
Case compatability is a huge problem. I'm considering the 360 Pred in either the Phantex Enthoo Pro or Luxe but EK don't know if their own product will fit. It's not like Phantex products are obscure... So, top mounted. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it.
Whether those quick disconnects are quality or not isnt the problem, its that they stick out like a sore thumb, for a lot of people (including me) they look ugly and no matter how quality it is, I dont want it in my system. I like the idea behind it, but ek should really have made it a separate version of the 360, because I wont buy the 360 just because of it, and I know a lot of others wont either. Awesome idea, but not how they should have gone about it.
no use of this video if u not compare to corsair and other all in one coolers. so whe know that which one is the best one to buy it . we are waiting from long time to for good cooler . linus try to bring full overview and compare this to other air cooler please
Anyone knows if the 360 will fit on a Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX case? The case does have 360mm radiator support but I'm not sure if it'll fit due to extra size required here.
i have the noctis 450, it does support upto 360mm rad but does anyone have this setup that can confirm that the predator 360 will fit in the noctis 450 ? thanks
No, I live in Brasil, I'm sorry for our computers here, even with extra refrigeration, always changing the thermal paste and everything to cool down the computer they're still hot. I think that companies should think more about out hot countries, like a lot of consoles here were fried, because of the poor refrigeration for our temperatures, and computes here cost a hell of a money, they're so expensive, like a basic gaming pc to run everything at 1080p 60fps costs R$5000 reais, and the average Brazilian earns about 2000 per month.
