This video is legendary. Watched it 14 years and just come back again for another bite. That ek sounds unreal. What a clip and what a driver not scared to rev the nuts off the old girl. They were expensive even back then, I had my dc2s around this time, good memories!!!!
The FN2 is heavier but the final drive in the gearbox is a 5.10 compared to the EP3's 4.7 which is why the acceleration between the two cars is very similar despite the extra weight. The EP3 & FN2 in standard form are virtually identical in straight line performance. The FN2 would be slightly quicker than an EK9 after 65/70mph but It would be marginal
I doubt the Seat is stock though, the big intercooler is a give away, so i bet there is a few other mods. The Ek9's have around 182bhp standard but rarely hold good power, guy in my local owner club has one with decat + filter and with only 60k miles it made 160bhp, they ain't easy to get power out from either in N/A form. They are rapid little cars. The only Honda i'd buy.
umm its an ibiza try with a leon cupra , it has 240hp stock , they say that if u take it to a dyno u will see that the car has 260-270hp , they declared less hp to pay less taxes
robert hdz yeah, i would rather get a civic like the one in the video but where i live there arent , we only have audis and beemers , the cupra is a golf with a seat badge and more powerful than a golf so its a nice car to have, it isnt soooo expensive, with a chip the cupra can easily get 300hp , just with the chip, the s3 costs almost the double here and u get a similiar performance
Dacrazy-can And i think you forget hes racing a naturally aspirated 1.6 litre honda he has no turbo or more engine capacity like the seat ibiza being a 1.8 20v turbo running less power standard than the n/a b16 honda engine which is 185
@walton12341 Thats what i love about them, only ever owned by enthusiasts so theyre really well looked after, i mean come on what other 10 year old car do you know that revs like a bike and can take so much stick and keep coming back for more.
ek9 awsome car to drive as i have one my self , power out of the corners is surpurb as the LSD kicks in for maximum grip. for a 1.6 they fast . but chuck in a b18 lump turbo WOW :)
@CupraLloydyy Boosted engines are easy to tune hence many have extra power. However, it's hard to compare them to a small N/A engine. In motorsports the cupra would have to compete in a higher class than the civic. Keeping that in mind the performace shown by the civic was outstanding and it didn't even show it's full potential (like it would on a track). I have mistaken it for the recent cupra which has a boosted 2L, I am not good with the seat models. It still has a bigger and boosted engine.
@duhabcdef i wasnt saying it was a canadian model, but the replacement air bag tray is a oem canadian part that many people order to replace the air bag.do me a favour check out "Hondadlli's Mek ya machine talk" video and tell me what you notice about the hondas in this video.
@duhabcdef iam glad ur 100% sure.just to let u knw iam from Antigua aka Wadadlli.google it,it was in HT magazine some months back. we get jdm cars, american cars are special ordered.ive seen hondas that you will have to fly across the world to see.so if you feel good telling your self i havent seen one merry christmas.
@Wolframkern I'm not taking anything away from the Civic at all (like you seem to be suggesting) I would love to own an ek9 Type R. All I said was that the Cupra must be standard, which it most likely is. Racing these two cars when there stock is no real competition. The Cupra weighs more and only pumps out 156bhp where as the lighter Civic pushes 182bhp. The Leon Cupra uses a 2L Turbo engine but the Ibiza runs a 1.4 TSi engine :)
yes. but it also came with the b16c in the later s reg model. the b16c is the far more reliable engine out of the smaller b series engines. but mostly in today's world there swapped with a b18a or k20a. I've seen one with a j32 in (v6) it was such a growling beast
Since when has the EP3 weighed 1550KG's? I think you will find the average EP3 is 1240KG's with the non aircon EP3's being 1205KG. Based on your theory the EP3 would have 127bhp per tonne lol way off the mark. Nothing in it between a EK9 & EP3 0-60 but after that the EP3/FN2 will pull away slightly
Haha he has that car mastered. Have you seen the way he downshifts to the redline of the gear below. You can't teach talent like that. Probably wont fuck up the car or anything...
