The Avon FM12, the real life gas mask that Hunk’s was modeled after, comes in 3 sizes. 1, 2, and 3. 2 being the medium size and also the most commonly used. Being an owner of some of these myself, that number is displayed very visibly on the side of the mask in the same location. This explains the number 2 marking on the side of the mask :)
The fact that you went that far just to get the helmet to sit properly where it should is something I appreciate 👏🤣 when it comes to my beloved Mr death game accuracy is important🙌
I've seen people on forums modding this by sticking paper cutout in the sockets. The list of things to mod for this figure just keeps on going doesn't it 😅
On the forgotten soldier mask I believe they should be see through because you can see the panic in his eyes. In the regular hunk mask however yes they should be opaque, we aren't supposed to see any of hunks face.. could always stick some foil to the inside of the lenses that way they will not reveal the reapers eyes and will also reflect filtered red light for some pretty cool photo effects. Simple mod but I agree it shouldn't have to be done
@@brooksysdead That's a brilliant idea! I was thinking about sticking little circle cutouts of printer paper in there so the red in the goggles will do the rest. But I'm too lazy to take it apart at the moment 😅 Since the faces underneath isn't supposed to be seen anyway, they should've just made the helmet/mask interchangeable pieces of the head like with the Zen Creation Naruto. Though this is more authentic in its composition I suppose.
5:20 it’s so you can attach it to the Velcro on his back pouch and then close the pouch on it, a Velcro sandwich if you will. It allows you to put the flashlight or radio on his back the easy way.

Wooo late comment. The protrusion on the radio pouch is actually the wires. From what I've seen and observed from my friends who are big into Mil-gears stuffs, the wires connects the radio to the headset (The in-game model of HUNK doesn't show it but the helmet seems to have space for a over-ear headset judging from the protrusion on the sides). Its how HUNK was able to communicate with the Heli pilot in-game without him holding the radio.
Never too late~ And thanks for the insight! I did find it strange that Hunk was able to use the radio without taking it out of the pouch. So those wire bits implying they would've somehow connected to an earpiece underneath the armors would make a lot of sense.

I know this is late, but you don't need to mod his head to get the gasmask to fit. If you simply press into the face sculpt while pushing the helmet down, it will push down far enough and lock in place to the position on the promos. That being said, the whole headsculpt is wildly inaccurate. And while the harness has some too, it's mostly accurate outside of the chest area webgear not being dark yellow.
Oh~ Thanks for letting me know! I guess that's something that I would've never even thought about because I wasn't comfortable applying more force than I "think" is required. Besides, I probably would've ended up breaking it 😅 That said though, I would love to pick up another copy of this figure just to try this method if the availability hadn't dried up.
@@ElbearToys nah, the mask is sturdy, at least in it's prime. you just press in on the part between the eyes, or down on the breather. Most fragile feeling part is the plastic helmet. That said I 3-d printed a hunk head and plan on painting it /drilling it to fit on the body since it's the most inaccurate thing. I wouldn't recommend picking up another hunk, he's super expensive, but if you do, and you plan on parting him out, hit me up, I want to customize his webgear slightly, I'd buy it lol.
The strangest part of this whole thing is that DamToys also uses the exact same figure bodies as Ekuaz Studio and VTS Toys (down to the neck pegs, wrist joints, etc). Then again, it can also be argued that DamToys is simply supplying their figure bodies to other manufacturers, and the accessories are really just re-casts. But either ways, it's definitely an interesting connection. With that said though, I really hope DamToys will complete the line with a Remake Claire 😔
Retailers such as BBTS, Giantoy, and TNS Figures are all accepting pre-orders for the re-issue of this figure at the moment. It's slated for release late 2023. Hope that helps~
..seems to be based on the AVON FM12 CBRN Respirator size 2 model, as I've come to learn from the kind commenters here. It probably wouldn't be effective for COVID, but I wish I had one for the pandemic 😁
It seems like this one is sold out everywhere, which unfortunately leaves private trading websites like eBay and AliExpress as the next best bet. And that’s one pitfall for this hobby. Sooner or later, a figure will sell out, and no one knows if they’ll ever do a reissue. So the best time to get anything is through pre-order 😔
Not sure how "cannon" it is but Capcom did show his actual face once in RE Outbreak. I'm glad Ekuaz Studio didn't try that here though because those PS2 graphics would look really out of place here 😅 Thanks again for watching!!
This one is unfortunately long sold out. My next best recommendation is to keep scouring places like eBay for a deal (even if it's a scalper's market). That's one downside with these unlicensed items. Unlike big time manufacturers like Hot Toys, these figures are not too abundant in quantity, usually just enough to meet preorder quotas. Hello! Thanks for watching~ For the radio, the fit is very tight so I had to push it into the pouch very slowly. I'd also recommend using a pair of tweezers to slowly shimmy down the straps for the radio pouch through the loops on the back of the harness. Hope that helps 😃
Hunks drop leg holster is actually fabric, I know it looks like a plastic drop leg holster in the model for the game, but if you look at the detail, the plastic drop legs don’t have a extra pistol magazine pouch in that placement on the model in game, and also the detailing looks like stitching across the holster, and last thing the strap that keeps and pistol in place is a Velcro strap I’ve found very similar holsters to hunks, Ik some plastic holster do have a strap of sorts but it’s more like a little guard that can be pushed down and up, side by side with hunks model and a holster I found you can more clearly tell it is a fabric holster

I tried my best to make out what's what in the gallery mode, but couldn't get a lot out of it because it's kinda dark 😅 If this was a legit licensed figure, I feel that they wouldn't be able to get away with many of the inaccuracies. In the end, though, I'm just glad this figure even exists, even if some of the details are only half right.

I heard an idea from a friend who is a fan of RE and who wasn't very fond of Ethan who said that besides making Ethan cooler, it would be cool to show his face and reveal that he is actually Hunk and take on the Badass side, my friend said that was a wasted chance I think I agree ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ As for the figure, it's almost perfect, it has military elements that convince me and Hunk is rough, he's a military man together with a more accurate zombie from RE 2 Remake and it's just fun.
That would be crazy if Ethan is Hunk. But yeah, they gave Hunk a little more personality in RE2R which makes him just different enough for any twist that he's Ethan to be believable. Besides, it would suck to see what happens to Ethan ends up happening to Hunk.
@@ElbearToys is that unfortunately Ethan's plot ended without salt and one of the aspects that makes me angry is this mystery they create in his face,he was already well erased this mystery only makes him even more saltless. Well I hope Hunk comes back one day and they reveal his face.
So glad this got released before I decided to tackle my own custom HUNK. Probably one of my favorite collections of my 1/6 scale figures. One mod I did was put a white piece of paper behind where his eyes where so you couldn't see his eyes.
HUNK's gravitas cannot be understated. He seems easy to kitbash, but there's nothing quite like having a specially made figure that's to the specs (albeit some inaccuracies). And that's a lovely idea! I've also seen modders use a similar tactic, but the paper cutout actually has a darker shade towards the circumference so they mimic the gradient in the goggles 🤯
I might try that for the next one, that is if I can get the head to fit on that super big neck peg. I'm thinking of picking up another one since Ekuaz Studio is doing a re-issue. Either ways, thanks for the tip~
Sadly I don't have the expertise nor creativity for modding figures. But I did see some people use circular cutouts from a white letter paper to fill the goggles so they opaque like in the game. I suppose you can take that further and make cutouts using a darker color paper instead. Hope that helps~

This figure is getting a reissue. I haven't checked the status lately but I think OneSixthKit, GianToy, and BBTS at some point had pre-orders open for the 2nd batch, which tends to be the best way to snag one as opposed to waiting for them to actually come in stock. There are a lot of scalpers in this hobby and the 1st batch reached insane prices last time. Happy collecting~
@@kevinthorn9672 It's a real bummer that this piece suffered the same price hike as many other figures in this hobby. Though if I'm being real, much of this one can be kitbashed yourself. Everything on this figure is rather generic other than the helmet and mask. But even those could be substituted. And, who knows. Maybe DamToys will one day get their act together and give us a licensed Claire and Hunk and close out their RE2 Remake line.
