El Capitan's Golden Gate ft. Emily Harrington | The North Face 

"I would love to go back and do it better" and now, 5 years later she has climbed the same route in a day. 21 hours. The 4th person to do this and the first woman. This girl is crushing it.

For the people commenting how Alex Honnold did this is under four hours: 1. This is a different route up El Cap and this route she is doing is a harder grade than the one Alex did. 2. She is using a rope because she is free climbing which is different from free solo (which is what alex did). Free Climb is using a rope but not allowing it to take any of your weight away when climbing. Hope this clears things up!

And to think she came back and did the whole rig in less than a day. What a beast!

I really appreciate the fact that this doc showed all her emotions and struggles. THis was a super human time and her frustration is great to see.

To go from not being a big wall climber, to free climbing Golden Gate, to then coming back and free climbing Golden Gate in sub 24hrs?! It really makes you see how having determination and grit can make your dreams come true. Emily is a person that not only climbers can look to for inspiration!

Kudos to the cameraman on this journey...thanks for bringing us (who will not climb) this amazing experience!

The first time I watched this, I thought: wow, that is awesome! Now that I've started climbing myself, I've rewatched it and I have a whole new level of appreciation for what she did here.

I love how tape is hanging off every part of her, ragged and worn from the battle... that's what a warrior goes through... you go Em!

She is an extraordinary climber. I am buying The North Face gear specifically because they choose to sponsor Emily (and others). I can't do these things, but I love to see human achievement and passion realized.

I think a lot of people compare every climber to Alex because he is so chill when doing it. You almost never see him stressed or angry but is so good all the time so people get used to that and think that anyone who does show strong emotion or isn't successful initially isn't as good. I think Alex would be really disappointed in anyone who uses him to put down another athlete

I think this movie brilliantly captures the mental and physical struggles all climbers go through. She is incredibly resiliant and i'm very inspired by the way she pulled herself out of the dark place, when things weren't going well. Brilliant, brilliant movie, well done to Emily and everyone that was involved🙂

As a woman climber I really appreciate the inclusion of her mental and emotional struggle with this route in the video. I reaaaaaaally feel that. So often in sports, women's emotions and emotional responses to struggle are criticized and belittled. She is so strong, I am in awe!

To all the "Free Solo" fanboys who know nothing about climbing, this is Golden Gate. Alex would never free solo Golden Gate. He'd be dead if he did. There are only 4 people who climbed Golden Gate with a rope: Gobright, Caldwell, Honnold and Emily. No one free soloed it. One thing to remember: Free climb means climbing with a rope where rope doesn't carry your weight, but instead you carry the weight of the rope. It's there only to catch you if you fall. Also, it's important to understand how Alex does free solo. 1. He climbs the same route hundreds of times with a rope before free solo attempt. 2. Parts of the route where he falls, he repeats over and over with a rope, until he can do it effortlessly. 3. He cleans the whole route of anything that could be slippery before the attempt. 4. He even puts chalk on some holds before the attempt. Most climbers are not into that, nor should they be. Grinding the same route for years and preparing every hold just so you can free solo it is not what climbing is about. It's incredible what Alex did, don't get me wrong. It requires a lot of time, discipline and dedication, but it's not like he free soloed El Cap out of the blue. He always makes sure the route is not risky via steps mentioned above, which is why he always says that it's scary only to outside observers who don't know how many times he climbed the same route with a rope and how long he prepared the whole thing.

Crazy this movie!! I´m only a hiker and Mountain-biker...and no climber ! Well- was with my wife two times at Yosemity N.P....just camping and and we did some hikes..for us perfect. I think you can have an idea from this wall when you walk around the bottom of El Capitan -or you take the Yosemity waterfall trail up to the top and see the valley like a bird..... However..Verv good job Mrs. Harrington -also your partner at the wall! Hope to visit the park once again..we love the Yosemity N.P.!! Greetings from Germany
