El-P is Deadass right about EPMD influencing G Funk. I heard Erick Sermons funk production on Redman's first album then I eve heard some of the same samples on The Chronic 2 years later.
Agreed. Been a fan since the Company Flow days. His rhyme style, content, and beats have always been dope. Happy to see him and Mike get their overdue acclaim.
So glad to see EL-P getting his flowers. That dude is one of the best producers in hiphop and doesn't get mentioned nearly enough. That is said without even mentioning his bars which are on another level.
2 of my personal top 5 favorite producers. El-P and Just Blaze. And the icing they mention and pay homage to another in my top five Eric Sermon. Plus the sneakers were DOPE
El-P and DOOM are my favourite rapper/producers. A nice touch that wasn't touched on (I think) was the colour of the shoe. It is the same colour as The Cold Vein album cover. Very cool. The Blade Runner thing had me going; "OH SHIT!" Love the EPMD reference too. Wonderful.
I'm making two comments ok. EL-P grew up in NY. I think in places such as those, there is greater access to a variety of culture and counter culture, which is why, being about the same age, I came upon the culture a bit later with the advent of the internet which somewhat leveled the playing field where I grew up, providing access to these things where it was harder to obtain before.
I really appreciate the show n culture to the fullest look forward to every episode that comes out especially the sneaker head culture Jus Blaze got the illest sneakers I wonder how he affords them lol solute To the sneak it has the culture and the artist and producers etc. that come on to the show thank you
To see EL-P HERE means a lot to me cause I've flowed his whole career and knowing him he's EXTREMELY ANTI COMMERCIALISM and ppl that know what I'm talking about... Know exactly what I'm saying 🤐👑🐐👁️🗨️🇵🇷
Along with Kool G Rap, Wu-Tang, Nas, Hieroglyphics, Mobb Deep, Onyx, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and many more MCs shaped my youth, funny thing is I grew up, born and Raised in Northern Cali, but I always gravitated towards East Coast hip-hop!!! Don't get me wrong I love lots of West Coast hip-hop, especially Hiero, E-40, Yukmouth etc. But East Coast always had my ear!!
crazy they just leaked the rtj x nike sb recently. Hope I can get a pair but didn't know EL was into sneakers. Mike showed up on an episode of full size run on sole collector channel though.
Glow in the dark soles some how neon colored wouldve set this tf off, tho. With the reflective swooshes and the other symbols wouldve definitely added another layer.
Salud,to El-Producto Legendary Emcee n Beatmaker, yet the kicks they presented where so humdrum the take the Airforce one change color shceme and stickers ,the tongue logo was the only dope concept ,why not N.B,or Saucony,or ASICS ,the Nike Air Force is played out ,I'm sure he was just being humble especially him being so eclectic he was dispointed ,an u guys are sneaker artist gotta change your pallete except if it a business endeavor that's understandable....
