My wife & I actually met Hulk Hogan a few years ago. He was probably one of the coolest celebrities I’ve ever met! He shook my hand saying, “How you doing brother?“. He took time to talk with us, and didn’t have any issues with taking photos with us or giving me an autograph.
Yes, his jokes were written for him, but he did them pretty well for a wrestler. He did have his own action TV show too for one or two seasons so he's got some practice at acting not including the squared circle
I still laugh at this now.. Hulk did just as good as Jeff Ross! Even though I will always be a Hulk Hogan fan.. just imagine if 'Macho Man' Randy Savage had done a roast... DAMN that would of been good!! "OH YEAAAAAAAH" Macho + The Hulkster doing a comedy roast would of been comedy gold I reckon!!
Very surprised how well he did. Usually when they get someone like that on a roast they bomb and I end up cringing for them. I have respect for him being able to take a joke, as well as dishing them out.
It took me a while to figure out what he meant by that joke about "that guy from Airwolf". Now I know. Looks like he won't take The Hoffs place after all.
The Roast has a team of writers for those who aren't professional comedians, and that includes the roastee. And usually the non-comedians play safe telling the jokes those writers tell them to say. Because, when they don't, you get gems like the Ann Coulter segment in the Rob Lowe roast. Of course, even when you get your lines fed, you still need to have good comedic timing to not fumble the joke. And Hulk killed it with his delivery, even when some jokes were not for his taste
