El Valle is an amazing place full of hiking trails! This was our first hike in El Valle, a portion of the La India Dormida trail that takes you past some fascinating rock carvings from Pre-Colombian times and to some gorgeous waterfalls!

Duros: frozen fruit puree in a small plastic bag. Sometimes it may just be frozen fruit flavored water. Great for cooling off.

Those kids and not so young kids charge everyone, including Panamanians for watching the car, people are sick of it and complain about them all the time.

Technically hiking trails and access to waterfalls are supposed to be free by law, so I am surprised they are getting away with charging for entry. There are free entrances to hiking trails in El Valle. One of the easiest to reach by foot is Cerro Cara Iguana, and that connects with the other trails around the town.

I’m with your hubby on the hitting us up for two bucks to watch a car that can’t move unless you steal it. We were there last May and I stopped that immediately. I understand the need, but dang we aren’t made of money.

We Panamanians grew up eating “duros” as kids to cool off from the heat. You can make duros at home from freezing any kind of juice or even soda inside a small cup and once frozen you eat it like a slurpee

Great video as usual. LOVED the rock! Looks very ancient. Paying for the car is common in Latin America, but it's a tricky thing. I always pay because you never really know who the people asking for the money are. If you don't pay, they may scratch your car. My guess is that Panama is safe all around, but if you go to Brazil, do pay. Fixing your paint job costs more than whatever amount they're asking.
