Beggars Arkive is excited to announce that all of our artists that appeared on Top of The Pops will be available on our Arkive Channel. Sourced straight from the BBC Arkive - Top of the Pops was the UK's longest music television programme.
The performances range from the very first Beggars signing The Lurkers in 1978, to a performance by Adele in 2008, plus everything in between, including Gary Numan, The White Stripes, The Cult, Bauhaus, The Strokes and many more. The footage is broadcast quality and has been transferred directly from the BBC archives.

I was literally just looking at my rather well-worn, oft-played copy of Elastica's first album that I purchased whilst at Uni, 25+ years ago, then came over to check my phone to see what was prompting the notification alert, which was this upload. That was so weird, but I'm certainly not complaining; especially about Justine or Donna. A case of absolutely serendipitous synchronicity in effect. 😍

Yea the 1900s had the best music. I do rather be an adult during the 70s, 80s and 90s can't stand being an adult in the 2020s and 2030s. It gonna be hell

A lot of women and men dressed pretty androgynously in the mid-90s here in the UK. I was a teenager throughout the 90s and it really wasn't a big thing.
