Elbit Systems ATMOS meets the need for light, long-range and fast-moving artillery on the battlefield. Highly adaptable, the modular ATMOS system is available with various qualified in-service trucks and gun calibers. The combination of an embedded electronic suit, automatic laying system and automatic loading system provides exceptional benefits including accurate navigation and autonomous operation, reduced crew size, increased fire power and accuracy. The artillery systems are equipped with fire control computers (FCC), muzzle velocity radar (MVR), an inertial navigation system (INS) and a target acquisition system (TAS).

PH will only use this against insurgents, which I think is overkill as the same function can be covered by towed artillery and firebases. You don't need shoot and scoot capability against insurgents as they cannot hit back with counter-artillery (although this gives the advantage of rapid deployment in the initial stage of local rebellion). Neither the country has robust logistics to keep such war machines supplied. The immediate threat to PH are not insurgents anymore. What PH desperately needs now are land-based, sea-launched and air-launched anti-ship missiles as anti-access area denial against you know who.

@@joemraba7636 aside from the insurgents, they will use this SPHs to a certain Communist Country if they decided to make a land invasion in the Philippines since majority of these will be stationed in Luzon facing the same landing beachhead used by the Japanese during WW2. Agree on your logistics remark that the Philippine Army (PA) and the Philippine Government hasn't fix all these years. Also, the Philippine Army has few rounds of 155m to use against insurgents since they're expensive af for the meager operational budget of PA.

This is a gorilla operations howitzer. Deploy quickly to a random spot, get a few shots off and get the hell out before the enemy rains heavy counter battery fire onto it's general vicinity. Large scale Wack-A-Mole just made the whackers job impossible as this thing is long gone before the enemy artillery gets it's fire solution together.

I think that would in some instances be pretty effective, YOU DONT need fully armored vehicles, you dont need an infantry unit to protect them, you DONT need air support! You give them a fire mission and how ever many arty units are needed they drive to a in range safe point and start dropping rounds maybe they go 4 or 5 rounds each then pack up and get out before the enemy can pin point their location and return fire, I think in the right circumstance it would be brilliant!

I think the ARCHER SPG (Self Propelled Gun) is a better system.. no need to deploy canoneer soldiers on the ground while doing firing missions.. the team consist only a driver and a gun operator.. they dont need to get off the vehicle.. its like a simplest drive and fire system.. everything is done automatically at 100%.. unlike the Elbit SPG Howitzer system, it is a combination and automatic and manual work load..

I mostly agree with you but the archer system relies on other people for target acquisition. Where as this system can be more independent and can finish their mission without outside communication. Just a thought edit: is also much cheaper

Hi, it seems that ATMOS 2000 has too many variants. There are 2 variants based on MAN TGS, at least 2 on the Tatra 6x6 base, and 1 on the MAN HX 8x8 based. What kind of truck did the IDF choose? I knew that IDF discarded the RCH 155 offer by KMW in favor of all-Israeli system. But i haven't learned of any heavy Israeli truck. They will not be puting the ATMOS on the Nun Nun right?

C'est pas possible il faut mettre une charge adaptée à la distance seule une assistance automatique est possible sinon il serait obligé de tirer toujours la même charge au détriment de la précision. Le rechargement automatique est possible uniquement sur des char à court distance de 4 à 6 km au-delà il faut adapter les charges

1:57 "multiple simultaneous rounds on target" is easy when firing in a salvo. But I bet these trucks couldn't achieve that individually.

No minimum range. Only rocket artillery has minimum range. Howitzers can hypothetically still be used at point blank.

If your enemy is 1500 meters from you, it has no logic to deploy your artillery and shot to a distant point. You are absolutely at a wrong place in the combat.

Panzerhaubitze 2000 and Atmos 2000 are 2 completely different systems, one is meant for high intensity artillery support, one is meant for swift shoot and scoot.

Why do you need heavy armored track and expensive vehicle to fire artillery at ranges of 40km (60km with ER rounds)? These are support units in the rear, not front line units like MBT that need protection. You do not deploy artillery pieces next to tanks. Shoot and scoot tactics, so no counter artillery incoming. Only real threat would be attack helicopters or air strikes getting past front line, but your PZH 2000 is not going to survive that anyway. These are faster, cheaper, easier to maintain and transportable via cargo plane. Most countries don't have unlimited budgets, so spending it wisely is best. A PZH cost 2 to 3 times what these units cost for no tangible advantage. In fact the PZH does not do well in dusty and sandy environments, as we saw with the Dutch in Afghanistan

Tracked vehicles are different and have a higher cost maintenance and logistics system. They have better mobility over rough terrain. Tracked vehicles like this are more simpler to operate and being wheeled can transport over distances and bridges the heavier tracked vehicles may not be able to access. When used well, they can have the same effects for a smaller cost.
