I swear every one of distortions speedruns I’ve watched he spends the whole video going “that was bad” “this is a terrible run” and then it ends up being WR
Yep, happens a lot in WR runs. It just means there's even more room for improvement which is exciting. All the mistakes could lead to another minute down. Sub 56 next, let's go.
When I played the game first I thought I had to defeat every enemy on the way so I spend like 2 days trying to defeat the troll jumping from the bridge that gets supported by the archers lmao😂
I know this is an old comment but I feel like this could be a new law of physics, that unless a speedrunner is constantly telling the audience how shitty they think their segments are they can never actually beat their old records 🤔🤔🤔
I think you have to be an OCD perfectionist to even get into serious speedrunning, so most of the top tier speedrunners are probably the type of people who refuse to settle for anything less than absolute perfection. Once they've figured out what the best version of what they're trying to do looks like, anything less appears problematic lol. It seems like a big part of successful speedrunning is being able to improvise when you make a slight mistake or get bad RNG.
I ain't gonna lie I prefer the glitchless speedrun compared to the any% where that whole zipping thing is useable. Not that zipping doesn't require skill (it requires heavy patience and stuff I am aware) but I just like it a lot more when the runners have to play the game as intended to the best of their abilities rather than being able to just "zip" right through the final bosses and stuff. Very cool run !!
@@P1Volvo850R any% for pretty much every game is kinda boring in general imo. It’s obviously super impressive how people even find out and optimize the strats, but at some point it just becomes way too boring to watch
@Samael OOT was good for about 6 years until they found the warps, there's a lot of good any% still but a lot of games is just code/rng manip or skips that aren't even fun to watch
Dis2 ain’t playing around when it comes to wanting to be the world record holder 😆 his record was just beat the other day, then he turns around and beats THAT record in record time, truly a legend.
How is dying, and then spawning in a place the developers didn't intend you to which skips the intenden route, not a glitch? <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1601">26:41</a> for context. I feel like <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="2383">39:43</a> is also iffy (they tried removing those skips multiple times, but people just keep finding new ones.) but acceptable.
Started playing again after a 6 month break and wonder what the fastest glitchless speedrun was. Of course its Distortion, I'm not even surprised anymore, just happy he got it.
Now that it's a year later I'm watching Dist's first playthrough and it's hilarious in hindsight, and it'll be even more fun to watch him do a crazy optimized speedrun once I'm done.
It's crazy that reloading the save is faster than just waiting for the door to open. Also not sure what I expected in an elden ring speedrun, but the amount of time spent not actually fighting anything was not it.
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1490">24:50</a> for like the first actual combat interaction. I know reset on these runs must be real sleeper sometimes huh lol
How did you use the golden vow at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1619">26:59</a> I was trying to use your method and I got stuck here I was shocked when I couldn’t use the ash of war 😂
Great video. Forgive me if this is a dumb question for I am new to the speedrun. But why do you quit and restart during the game? What purpose does it serve? I genuinely don’t know. Thanks
There’s a couple reasons. First off, opening doors can be slightly faster if you save quit mid animation. Those fractions of a second saved start to add up to many seconds saved by the end of the run. The other reason is to reset the aggregation of enemies so that they don’t attack him while he’s doing jumps and such.
Ridiculous it’s taken me 3 days to complete the final boss. With level 250 stats blasphemous blade build. This guy goes in with a frog looking character and finishes the game in under an hour. I think it took me an hour to figure out what an incantation was.
Yes he missed the bow purchase but come on our man executed some of the most seamless boss fights back to back at the latter half. Fire Giant, foreskinz and glitter slime are beaten sick af smokin sexy style...
The whole blinds thing. Why does he have to order them? If he lives in the US I've seen those he talks about at the store (home Depot/Lowe's). Does he not leave his house?
I mean it is because the game is designed to work that way. You can respawn at state of marika if you die within its range (and Radahn's arena is huge). Arrow phase is because Radahn's arrow is not designed to have infinite range (it would be insane if it is so) So he is programmed to 'go crazy' and spam arrow at nowhere if player got out of range, and will charge player instead if they got back into range.
a game i get lost in all the time, im just still on my first playthrough im like how tf do u know this map like that! lmao absolutely incredible stuff bro
I cannot for the life of me understand what you or anyone in the chat is talking about, y’all really have an entire shorthand language for this extremely niche style of playing this one specific game lmaooo
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="2542">42:22</a> - <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="2577">42:57</a> Local speedrunner has a stroke trying to explain himself while riding through the Forbidden Lands (I love him tho)
Throughout the run, he periodically crouches, triggering a burst of fast stamina regeneration, which was patched out in 1.08. I don't get the logic of running on a previous patch, though. If it's ok to run 1.07 to take advantage of crouch-toggling, why not run on 1.01 to use the stupidly overpowered Icerind Hatchet or Sword of Night and Flame? It makes it feel cheaper, in my opinion, but maybe there's a different reason that I don't know about.
Glitch means the code didn’t do it’s function properly. The code was supposed to respawn anyone who died in the radahn arena at the entrance, which is exactly what it did.
@@ayzix-polytopia3854Which is pretty much a glitch. All glitches work because thats the program was written, but definitely not how programmers intended for players to play it
question why does chat want him to pop a rune arc so bad? he doesnt have a great rune so woudnt it not do anything? or does it give a bonus even without a rune?
There’s a couple reasons. First off, opening doors can be slightly faster if you save quit mid animation. @@garyclerkin4528 In the category where glitches are allowed, save quitting can even be used to teleport to certain locations without manually doing it in game. How this works though I would not be able to explain lol
