Thank you Saint riot for using carian retaliation to parry my abusive dad’s beer bottle and getting him stabbed by magic swords. Truly one of the people of all times
"The host is trying to resummon and your piddly shortsword isn't doing enough damage." "I, uh, switch to lucerne and just absolutely murder this host." "You absolutely murder the host and kill him. He dies." ... BLUE SPIRIT
Great intro saint, i just feel our parasocial relationship growing stronger! Cant wait to get home to add the tongues i collected to your shrine, hope its enough for you to rank me up! Keep up the good work!
Considering lordsworn already has the 110 crit modifier, if they did fix their oversight on the shortsword I'd say give it like, 130-150 crit modifier to make up for its other downsides. Since otherwise people still would never use it
I'm pretty sure Seath had a book suppository wing somewhere in that archive of his. I'm told old Logan visited it once, I don't think he'ld recommend the experience. Heh.
phantoms in this game are the same exact concept as dark souls. there are "other worlds" which have some nebulous connection to our own, and co oping or invading means projecting your spirit across worlds. The Lands Between are essentially heaven + valhalla + every afterlife concept rolled into one, so that's i guess where the "time/space is distorted" aspect comes in. They do a fair bit of subtly commenting on it as a concept in ways dark souls never did though, like referencing other tarnished as having collected great runes but failing to become elden lord: how would that be possible when the shardbearers are all alive? because they were killed in someone else's world, not yours. There's that one npc who shows up in the hub as an invader, and refers to his non invader form as his "corporeal form". so yeah, they're all just phantoms. all explicitly being projected from somewhere else. and they'll always build their worlds with the intention of making that the case.
One thing I've noticed about the short sword is that offhand strikes with a great hammer seem to come out more quickly after its attacks relative to other straight swords. It's true of light and heavy attacks, but great hammer strikes after short sword light attacks come out super quick. The same's true for daggers, but because the short sword does straight sword poise damage, its potential for wombo combos and mix 'em ups is a lot higher. Still needs a higher critical modifier, tho.
I appreciate it when you acknowledge a good Blue or co-op invader. Years ago you had a fellow invader in DS3 named Ludwig who was a wizard but wasn’t spamming huge spells… that video changed the way I invade.
Book suppositories building...that's what private snowball called it in Full Metal Jacket. Saint is giving us what we want. Is now the time to ask for Bubbles again...? Whatever, I'm happy with the long invasions. Good stuff Saint
Being a blue in ER was so dissapointing i stopped being a blue lol. Is there even any lore to why they exist besides leftover Souls idea? Anyway, still love your vids brotha, always quality.
Yeah considering they don't even have an NPC to give you the item or any relevant dialogue tied to it I imagine blues were just an afterthought in an already pretty neglected (imo) PvP system. At least both of the invasion items have the shell of what could have covenants or something.
The blue ring only has a functional item description, no lore. But the white ring reads, "One of the lost mystic codes said to have been bestowed by the Two Fingers." Given that the blue ring is also made of mystic code, I assume that it is another of these things bestowed by the Two Fingers. Interestingly, they are described as "lost". Given that they were made for the Tarnished and given that any Tarnished who goes to the copy RTH should know where they are, this perspective of "lost" has to come from Tarnished who never visited the copy RTH. Which means that the rings were made and given out before the the copy RTH was made. Which means that Tarnished were invading and murdering each other before their banishment with Godfrey. Whoever the Tarnished were before their banishment, they clearly weren't as unified as their title and loyalty to a single leader suggests. As to the blues, like all cops, you serve the man. You serve the Two Fingers. In the current day, you help seat a new Elden Lord. In the past, hard to say what their role was. Not terribly exciting but it does offer us a tiny bit more perspective on the Tarnished before they were banished, which is a pretty scarce topic lorewise.
@@rainbowkrampus the Two Fingers Prayer Book and it's miracles give a look into that as well. Apparently the Tarnished had secret Tarmished hunters that went after Tarnished that went AWOL. The "real" version of the round table is obviously connected to Godfrey as Elden Lord. So it would make sence to me that Tarnished sometimes would stop following the Guidance of Godfrey, so other Tarnished would go an kill them, guided by the Two Fingers
@@gankspanker4204 I'm not sure how you're making a connection with that item and pre-banishment Tarnished. The book plus its incantations point to being given to Tarnished when they were seeking to become Elden Lord. That is, after their and Godfrey's banishment, when the Tarnished effectively became independent agents. Was there something else you were using to make the connection there?
@@rainbowkrampus yea, looking over some items again. I think I was confused. The Two Fingers Prayer Book and it's miracles are clearly supposed to be given to Tarnished that seek to become lords, but it's found in the Fortified Manor in Leyndel. I was mixing it with the Assassin's Prayer book from the Roundtable Hold. That books miracles also say that it was for Tarnished employed by the two fingers to kill Tarnished that abandoned the guidance of grace. I was making the connection that the Assassin's Prayer Book was from a time before the current Roundtable because items from the Twin Maiden Husk states that some of the items were lost. So the Assassin's Book may have been from the time of Godfrey and his Tarnished being guided by Grace.
I love how you hype up a good Blue at the beginning of the video and there is legitimately a good player fighting in the invasion, so we all might think he was the "only good Blue." Then, right at the end of the video we get a reality check with our boy, Estus Delivery.
I love all of your videos, but I've always had a soft spot for your long invasions. If one typw of invasion makes for better youtube content i definitely think it's a long invasion, because we get characters we like and hate over the course of the invasion, and hearing your thought process makes the invasion really engaging
stamp has 1000 motherfucking poise, which sounds arbitrarily high (and basically is), but you actually do need to get out of the way if you somehow find 2+ dudes charging up r2s at you simultaneously
man, you praise some more shortsword talk to these people saint, i hope somebody listens. i hope it gets some recognition by the devs. you're also the only person ive heard with my desire for unsheathe for straight swords and stand off on katanas. be so cool. another great video mr riot!
Some people prefer reading on physical books, some prefer e-books. Others prefer audio books. Me, I like to read rectally, only book suppositories for me.
Actually, a good blue will go and aggro the closest dangerous enemies and bring them to the Host, drop Frenzyflame Stones on the Host, and unalive themselves to give flasks to the Invader when they get low. If it's a gank squad you can also try to solo the closest field boss if it's open world, to prevent the gankers from summoning in that area again before NG+. Edit: typo
What?! A good Blue? It's gotta be an undercover Red... I'll have to watch it to see for myself cause it doesn't feel right at all 😉😉 Good Blues has been extinct since DS2 days afaik! Cheers Saint!!
I used to be one. Then I realized hosts are just using us as meat shields to ward off the bad red man. Phantoms are their friends, but blues are merely tools. I have been a faithful red ever since that day, to repent for the sins I have committed as a naive blue.
