I definitely plan to try this out on a dexterity build. If you guys have any weapon recommendations comment them here. Also everyone has taught me that the buff only scales from the faith scaling of the casting tool. Which would be why the clawmark seal was much weaker of a casting tool. Thank you guys!
Guardians Swordspear with electrify armament is killer because of its insane dex scaling on keen; thats the build im running on my most current playthrough. Also vykes dragonbolt has the same scaling as electrify so if you overwrite the body buff with a better one like exalted flesh or boiled crab you get to keep the sickass red lightning effect and lose the weird vykes body buff
@@ChaseTheBro the blackflame seal is the best at weapon buffs until past 50 faith where The erdtree seal starts to dominate every other seal in every way
@@ChaseTheBroIf I were to guess, it might be in order to prevent str/fth builds from getting strong weapon damage AND powerful weapon buffs too early and easily by using the clawmark seal.
Electrify armament isn’t affected by the passive effect of the gravel stone seal. Weapon buffs only consider the faith scaling specifically not the overall incant scaling for some reason. Clawmark does worse because its faith scaling is lower than the gravel stone seal. At 60 faith the most damage will be from the godslayers seal for electrify armament.
@@ChaseTheBro Yeah it would. Scholar’s armament works the same way and only considers the int scaling but does work with lusats making it the strongest weapon buff for just damage.
I ran some calculations not too long ago. Pitting the lightning infusion against the electrify armament buff. Not counting flat defenses, the buffed weapon did more damage. And this was at 30 Faith, level 175. For pure AR, buffs will always do more damage at higher levels. Especially in PVP, where elemental weaknesses are less of a thing. Side note, you get more damage using the godslayer seal at that level. As the gravel seal provides no buff to the spell. Plus, seals that scale off of other stats aren’t effective for buffs. As the buff only scales off the faith portion. This was likely to prevent hybrid arcane/strength faith builds from doing crazy damage due to buffs.
Wizards mentioned at least 24 times: 04:32 And so begins the onslaught of the Wizardry attacks 09:40 Hey Wizard 10:14 But the Wizard just walked himself off a cliff 10:57 Hi Wizard 11:12 Watch out for the Wizard 11:36 Definitely the Wizard's 11:45 Is gonna destroy the Wizard 11:56 Wizard is kinda 12:43 Storm stomp roll catching the Wizard, maybe we'll actually kill the Wizard 12:54 Yeah we did kill the Wizard in one hit 12:58 Thats nine hundred damage on a Wizard 13:29 Kill the Wizard in one hit 13:48 Getting hit by a Wizard, totally my fault, didn't think it was a Wizard 14:19 Wizards! 15:00 A Wizard. Bonus: 14:14 15:23 16:30
The treespear and the erdsteel dagger are the only weapons in the game with innate faith scaling that are also able to be buffed. Could be interesting to have faith be your primary damage stat while also using the weapon buff.
@@ChaseTheBro I think the idea behind the Erdsteel dagger/Treespear stuff is that they work really well on mostly pure casters. You're not using them because you want to focus melee, you're using them because you want to throw lightning bolts at some nerds and all those points in faith have the side effect of powering up these two specific melee weapons. You could 3v1 most people with a butter knife so I'm sure they'll work fine in a dex/faith setup but I think where they really shine are on high faith, caster-oriented builds that just so happen to have more melee power than you'd expect thanks to innate faith scaling + Electrify Armament.
You can use the magic weapon buff on the clayman harpoon and get a shit ton of magic damage out of it. Keep up the great content man, I look forward to watching your videos while I eat almost every day
Happy to see this one. I enjoy faith and these videos are always fun to watch. There are a few faith-scaling weapons that can be buffed with this spell, such as Tree Spear. Also, the reason the Gravel Stone Seal gave a higher buff is that spell only gets it's buff from the faith portion of the seal. Thanks for making these.
Honestly Int/Faith, Arc/Faith, and Int/Arc infusions would be so nice for hybrid casters, plus it could fit the themes: magic/fire damage, Bloodflame, status in general.
This was an especially informative build idea. Having the numbers laid out helps, thanks g I wonder if any other weapon buffs could be worthwhile, though id understand if lightning is best due to generally lower resist
Finally, the real questions. Love the more unique videos. Also the gravel stone seal buffing a buff spell is super interesting. Makes me wonder how many buffs can be buffed💀
I'm not much of a min/maxer but your stat and build breakdown are always so helpful to just understanding the game a little better. Great fights as usual!
The invasion at 10:38 minutes in was my absolute favorite 🤩 host using psgs and pss, wizard spamming spells, and traitor red. And still overcame all odds in the most calm, fun way ever🤩🌞🔥✨️💪🏼
Variety is the spice of life. Keep the new builds coming. And the inspiration for new builds alive. Been watching you for all the souls game and still ready for your Xbox themed video where I’ll be waiting
I was literally just thinking about the old weapon buffs in previous souls games being extremely viable (like DMB) and this video comes along, awesome!
U are absurdly good at this game. I’ve been watching fromsoft pvp for years and every time I watch you, you are a step above the other channels I watch. It is like you are a natural at it. It isn’t just that you play a lot. It seems like to me it is a combination of factors.
I do love using this Incant, along with the Thunderbolt AoW. Both of them have a somewhat similar casting animation, and if someone isnt really paying attention can confuse the two. I've caught people off guard with applying armament first, and then thunderbolt after to surprise them. Just the little things in this game that are funny
I rocked weapon buff incantations my entire first play through and I think I ended up getting through areas I was severely under leveled for because of it
I hate that the buffs don’t just correlate to the spell buff or incant scaling number. It restricts buffs to builds that use either faith or int as a main stat and a staff or seal that has faith or int as the highest scaling stat at the same time. It would be so much better if more builds could have more access to the spell buffs. It would especially diversify builds that use some faith and make lightning make more sense with the dex scaling it has. I really hope they change that after dlc drops and I’m pretty sure most people would agree.
6:07 The most amazing one swing triple hit I've ever seen. 10:04 Wizard falling off the ledge after casting a moon spell. Ridiculously hilarious. Chase, have you ever thought of doing a stealth jar cannon build?
Can you do a true combo masterclass? One place to see true combos. I have a hard time remembering them and definately forget to use them. Love the videos!
I have been using Electrify Armament since day one on a Dex/Faith build and with 70 points in each and when using Golden Vow and Flame Give Me Strenght it will take the AR on my Keen Uchi+25 to 1055 and my Flame Art Uchi+25 (without the buff obviously) to 1080. You can even buff the AR beyond that if you add Howl Of Shabriri to the mix taking the AR of the Keen Uchi with the buff up to 1155 and the Flame Art to 1125. That is insane damage on a dual wield Katana build and catches a lot of people by total surprise.
Been running a similar build at 150 for a year now with around 60str 30 faith roughly achieving 900+ AR on a claymore. Combined with the spear talisman and heavy attack talisman you have a very decent build. The extra 50 levels don’t really give you much more damage when you consider everyone at 200 is a bullgoat and you’re pushing stats through soft caps at that point. Edit: also like everyone is saying, Godslayer over Gravel in most cases, but Gravel is good if you’re running Radagons Icon and Lightning Spear to react estus punish.
I was just making a ds3 75+5/25+5 dex/faith with blessed weapon and lightning blade/darkmoonblade. Sl132 and uses prisoners chain, hunters and priestess ring. One empty ring slot i use hornet, leo, or havel+3 for heavy weapons. Main one being crow quills. I have a 10 faith version with higher health and stamina that has more free ring slots and ToD. Uses bundles and resins mainly.
Yeah as other people said already, buffs only work with faith even if a seal allows multiple stats for casting. When I did my first playthrough of Elden Ring it was a str build with minimum faith for a couple incantations and I was sooooo looking forward to being able to buff with str using clawmark too, only to be severely disappointed when my damage only increased by like 7 points lol. And for what it's worth, the same principle applies to healing incantations too where it only uses your faith stat.
Hmmmm @ChaseTheBro .... does that old lord tali actually make the black flame buff worth using... I love the look of it and feel like a badass when it's applied but then it runs out before I've even aproached something to attack and I feel like a mug 😆Would love to see it if you can make it work
Do debuffs! W royal knights resolve ofc and meat snap… and flame grant me, fire infused.. poison buff urself too if u can… cold pots will help stak debuff also
When I hear "Yo what's up guys, ChaseTheBro here" It makes me feel better. One of the legends of Dark Souls 3 and Elden ring PvP. (Sorry if my eng not so good, 'cause I from Russia)
Chase, i dont think the unique sacred seal effect buffs the weapon buff spell at all, so its best to go for more incantations scaling instead, pls correct me if i'm wrong guys
The Gravel Stone seal gives more damage because for some reason Fromsoft decided to make all buffs only scale off of the Faith portion of the seal, and not the Incant scaling of the seal. That's why from 27 to 68 Faith the best seal for buffs is the Godslayer seal and from 69 to 99 - the Erdtree seal. Also the buffs do NOT get boosted by their respective seals, for uhhh... reasons, so in your case Gravel Stone is completely outclassed by the Godslayer.
54 str/80 faith with erdtree seal (highest faith scaling seal) would be higher damage technically but then you’re kinda going all in on the buff for your damage
You’re probably recording already, but don’t forget the Urumi on the Dex version of this one. Erdsteel Daggers will probably be the winner though. See ya on the next one!
According to Fextralife, the damage that is added to the weapon by all weapon buff incantations is based only on the faith incantation scaling of a sacred seal and it is not boosted by any additional seal buffs. For electrify armament the added damage is 0.75 times faith incantation scaling and ironically for blood flame blade it would be 0.4 times faith and apparently the hemorrhage effect does not scale at all and also does not benefit from the arcane stat even when using the Dragon Communion Seal. So I guess for weapon buff incantations the Erdtree Seal would add the most damage in any case, as it's entire incantation scaling comes from faith. But this needs to be tested of course, also if there are differences at different faith levels.
Had a fellow Red attack me the other day. I clapped after killing him and he spent the next hour spamming my inbox until I blocked him. I don't see a lot of traitors but the ones I do see are something else man.
Issue is not that Gravel buffs electrify armaments, it's just that clawmark is sht when it comes to non-damaging incantations. With 60 faith best result if I remember correctly should be Godslayer's Seal .
For 60fth its better to use the Godskin Seal, and for 67 and above the Erdtree seal is just the best seal for buffing, even over the Golden order seal, as buffs only work with the faith portion of your seal, which is why your Clawmark seal gives you a bad return here. Also the gravel stone seal boost here doesn't affect your buff, it only affects the offensive spells like lightning spear etc.
Sadly weapon buff spells only use the primary casting stat's portion of the Incantation/Sorcery Scaling (Faith for most, INT for Scholar Armament), and not the full Incantation/Sorcery Scaling value. Electrify Armament isn't buffed by Gravel Seal - it just scales better with Faith since it's a pure Faith seal. Clawmark gets a good portion from Strength that doesn't apply to the spell. Quick weapons enjoy a greater benefit since you're getting more hits with the same amount of elemental damage from the buff. DS2 did much better since you could buff infusable weapons, keeping those spells relevant for Faith and INT builds. The Treespear and non-element-infused Clayman Harpoon can be buffed despite being split-damage weapons, so adding Order's Blade or Scholar's Armament to them is actually viable - particularly Order's Blade on the Treespear. A Faith build with min Str/Dex for Treespear can make very strong use of it.
It's like how scholar armament gets only scaling from what it gets from int. demihuman staff actually gives the best bang for buck on 20 int (190 scaling = 142 iirc), if you solely want the weapon buff. So if you got a str/int build this works out pretty well. Tbh however as a best case scenario as it is it still feels like a complete and total waste of time compared to sacred blade, flaming strike, string greases of course being goat without having to bother with a secondary stat to begin with.
Afterthoughts Bullet points: Dragon Halberd also kinda spits on the whole idea. There are people who bring up Clayman Harpoon as a shining example, which kinda deflates when in the first place the bread and butter of pure int builds are spells. Minimum stats to cast bloodflame blade can actually be super beneficial considering that the way phantom hits interact with the flame causing bleed regardless of it hitting. Blood grease is stronger but the fact that bleed can go off on a super evasive foe can be considerably more valuable. Just ignore that it might be 50 fire ar lol.
As a weapon buff enjoyer, you would be better off using the godslayer seal bc of higher incant scaling at 60 FTH. The passive buff on all sacred seals do not apply to weapon buff spells
2:10 did you check the AR difference while two handing the weapon? I don't imagine the AR difference between 60 and 80 strength is huge when two handing
Chase is surprised everytime someone has no hp at higher levels. I don't do PvP and play offline but everytime I start a newgame I try to finish the game with less health than I did before. That could be a reason some of them die in one hit.
