Invasions testing out how powerful swift slash is after it was nerfed in the recent patch 🎮 TWITCH ➔ / chasethebroyt 📱 DISCORD ➔ / discord 🐦 TWITTER ➔ / chasethebr0 📸 INSTAGRAM➔ / chasethebro
I live in Texas- walked into a store today and no lie, you were on all 3 TVs in the store invading lol All the guys there were huge fans of you man- never thought I’d see such a thing.
There are only two types of Fromsoft nerfs 1. "Range on the third hit reduced by 1.5 pixels, added hyper armor to compensate" 2. "Base damage reduced by 97%, added 500 recovery frames, using this skill will now personally alert Miyazaki to come to your house and torsion your testicles."
How they nerfed bloodhound step was fucking tragic. Fp nerf would've been fine, multiple uses having more delay and more fp costs, fine. But bruh, that range nerf was fucking brutal and basically entirely killed the ash of war.
BHS nerfed into ground - not even usable to cross swamp areas (which was really practical and now have to trudge through those awful sections of the game)
bhs is balanced now, it was insanely broken on release. The only people who have trouble using it after patch were people who used it as a crutch before the patch.
The damage isn't the problem. It is the juggling. Once you're hit and stunned then it is an infinite juggle until you die. That's why it is a problem. There's no cool down when the next attack comes.
Agreed. You literally either trade into it with good spacing or you're just not doing anything and taking chip. Very easy to be permanently on the back foot.
You didn’t use it at its full potential after nerf. You can put it on bleed and soft cap arcane, if you hit them with both parts of the ash of war you will almost always proc bleed, which completely negates the poise damage nerf since no amount of poise prevents the bleed flinch. If you count the damage from the bleed proc, plus you run varres mask and lord of bloods exultation instead of the sword insignia, you can also completely negate the damage nerf. Yep, this ash is still absolutely ridiculous and broken.
Yeah the new weapons didn't get the powerstance status nerf so they all apply status super fast. They also didn't get the poise dmg buff but that doesn't matter when you bleed/frost in 1-2 hits.
Funny how the highest damage potential on this setup is also the safest. Something is clearly broken if there is not a single downside. Imo it has too much range, damage, status buildup, and too little recovery time.
i summoned some invader named eat my nuts thinking i’m hot shit and bro bleed me in every hit of the ash, it would miss me and still build up bleed too from the after slashes so op😪
I think chase's build being unoptimized for damage is the point. Even when you aren't using bleed or frost buildup, swift slash is still op in comparison to other reasonably powerful ashes.
@@Laxcadenhard disagree with your opinion. Hardcore pvp players will probably get uses to it but your average player will not. It has way to much of an advantage with little to no downside.
@@Laxcaden if you want to chase down the kill just use the running light attacks on the backhand blades. you literally keep moving after the attack ends. it's the single best chase tool in the game you are literally relying on this skill as a crutch to solve a problem the weapon class itself has a built-in solution for. there's no excuse
I don't actually think that was him because the guy DIDN'T have a buff of any sort on (that's easily visible like bubble) when he attacked chase. what I thought was a bubble was actually one of the ghost graves in that area. I THINK the guy was actually mimic veiled cuz no matter how I look I can't see where he was and I could swear I hear the sound of it dissipating before chase gets attacked.
I was the invader at 18 mins in! I’ve been watching you for years and decided to do my first invasions that day, didn’t even realize my swift slash savior was my favorite ER player. Was surreal hearing you say my name haha. Glad I made it to a video! Cheers Chase!
Honestly Blind Spot is more OP now, I-Frame dodge like BHS with an attack afterwards, which is also Pierce Damage to make it do even more damage since it's so fast it will hit the enemy while they're still attacking you
@@exq884 It will 100 percent get nerfed it's fundamentally not working as intended. They will probably nerf it to a point where it will be like every other bow in the game tbh which are all pretty damn bad.
I hope it gets nerfed so bad, mfrs will see a fanning projectile that is guaranteed to hit for 8 arrows worth of damage and say it's fine, bro if you wanna play a low skill projectile spammer make an int build
I hope that whatever From makes next in the Souls vein starts with all these new weapon categories. I'd love to play with some new weapons in a first playthrough
the death knight twin axes are quite fun with their unique ash, they lack hyper armor between the blink and spin but ironjar may solve that? the ash also procs multihit talismans and can do some substantial damage. Would be a neat build to see! maybe some form of "dash" build with revenger's blade, swift strike, and blinkbolt?
So the answer is yes.. In my opinion the best way to balance an ash of war is by changing the FP consumption, i feel like you only should be able to use it 3 times if your mind level is 15-17 with the pre patch damage or something lower than that a bit. Because if they nerfed it to the ground nobody’s going to use it but if they increase the consumption it’s not going to be useless but more expensive to use so it’s going to be balanced
With it's spammability, it should take more stamina rather than fp and I think that you recover far too fast from the ash because nobody can even land an attack on you if you use it
@@fadifarris4594 the same thing can be said about the damn glintstone magic shard. It’s easily spammable, tracks well and does crazy high damage. People pick 1 thing and complain about it meanwhile tons of other things go untouched/unnoticed like the new thorn spell
This kind of nerf only affects ‘meta’ level ranges though (125-150) when people are point pinching to reach soft caps. For players higher than 150 that nerf wouldn’t actually do anything since people wouldn’t have to skimp on mind.
The first couple invasions had Chase just walk up to each opponent and kill them almost instantly. I'd say the skill is still busted. The third group fought competently, but all Chase had to do was spam Swift Slash and there was no way to counter it.
Hoping you look into The Poison Flower Blooms Twice. Poison can get three attack buffs now thanks to the new poison hand weapon. Not sure ifvthey all stack but the aow is really strong. Just gotta hope the latency doesn't let the other players roll through the poison burst proc.
Dmg was actually super low. 600 including slash and vacume is an underperformer. But general evasiveness and online punish window lag still makes it very good for that alone.
Nothing that does that much damage & range should be that spammable & unreactable at close range. Fundamentally broken & makes revengers blade feel honest
I found the perfect counter to swift slash spammers, Starscourge Greatswords or Gravitas. Either that or the few that invaded me were just too stupid to dodge the aoe instead of just spamming swift slash because it doesn't have any s and the aoe pull/stagger will make them panic.
Whenever me and my friends are screwing around together in ER and get invaded, the first thing we check is if the guy is using a backhand blade. If he is, we immediately assume its swift slash, pull out our own, then all spam it back at them. Otherwise we just use other weaps.
So my friend tried doing some coliseum duels and he just kept running into swift slash users, so in the patch notes when he saw it was getting nerfed he got excited, then I showed him this video lmao
Idk if anyone will agree with me on this. While I love getting invaded and have time for it all day. I do not have time for an invader who after attacking decides that he wants to run away expecting me to chase them all the way through the level.
yes it's really annoying. usually its cause they expect their gimmick to one shot like usual but when it gets counter played they have nothing left and run for enemies. i really wish in the open world, caves/dungeon entrances were like fog walls that the host could enter so you aren't held hostage cause the invader is wasting your time.
Colosseums have been aggravating because of this aow. Literally haven’t been able to do anything against it because everything I’ve tried just doesn’t work
I had a couple of invasions where all three were spamming swift slash, it was absolutely hilarious. I just ran away, ran all over the map, interfering with their fun by not letting them kill me. Anyone who does that is definitely ganking, so you just have to deny them their ganks. There's no way for an invader to actually win if they stay together, so you have to get creative at ruining their fun.
try this: vennomous fang poison flower blooms twice AoW, poisoned hand in the off hand, poison talisman mushroom crown talisman that improves kicks and divine bird greaves
You should definitely try the claws of night on a multi hit build! The ash works with multi hit talismans, and can stagger casters out of their incantation animations as well
The damage wasnt the only problem. Its the quick startup, the range covered, and the lack of recovery. You dont want to have all three in a weapon/skill, unless youre asking for broken balance.
It would be interesting to see you try to use the stone-sheathed sword. I've only ever seen anyone talk about the sword of light or sword of dark, but stone-sheathed seems like a fairly good sword with square off and actually does strike damage. I've seen no one talk about just using the base stone-sheathed sword.
Honestly, this Ash is always gonna be OP just by virtue of the fact that it closes so much distance so fast, more so than really any of other ash. It's now my main go to set up for all PVE mobs. I use it on the smith script throwing circle weapon for more versatility and it's stupidly effective on bosses.
Chase I have a request/suggestion!! The Milady with cragblade has an insane two handed charged attack I think you would love. It face trades with just about any weapon and haw amazing stamina use for catching spam rolling! One of the most fun combos I've used in pvp
Had a pvp fight with 2 people. Sadly died but one of the dudes I managed to kill, I just spammed running light attacks on him since he kept dodge rolling away. The running light attacks are soooooo satisfying
Was hoping to see a decent nerf on this weapon ash. It is still ridiculous. I kinda chuckle whenever I am in the arena clapping cheeks and see the opponent switch to this to then spam L2 to grab the win.
Crazy they thought an ash of war that you can’t run away from and can’t fully dodge no matter how you dodge unless the other player just misses, would be a reasonable thing to add
brain is on flower power for some reason, so now I want to see builds with either festive grease (apparently increases physical AR a small amount?) and, of course, the mighty flower head itself, which might go well with your nemesis elden stars and that new flower incantation
Hi Chase! Awesome video as always, bringing back all the painful memories of the invaders who’d spam this ash of war constantly. Can you perchance do a showcase for Prime Radahns Greatswords 🥴👌
Try the banished knight halbred tooth whip ash true combo. Add all the posion attack scaling stuff and a weapon with scarlet blooms twice to finish them off, or if poison procks, it'll do just as much damage as the combo
