Huge tip i wish I knew when starting is using your MARKERS on the map (not the beacon waypoints). Open your map and press X (Xbox)/Square (PS) to open your markers menu. There are several different icons you can use to mark areas on your map you havent explored yet, to indicate loot, bosses, dungeons, etc and want to come back to, unlike the beacons you can place up to 100 of these down at any time and they don't disappear when you arrive at it once like the beacons do. Think of it like this, beacons (blue spire of light) are short term navigational aid and markers are long term exploration.
Oh my god you just blew my mind. I am getting pretty late game and have forgotten about half of the questlines and dont know where to find them. I also decided I'd come back to a lot of bosses and now have just decided to go back to Limgrave and explore.
@@Michaelroni-n-cheese I know I think I discovered it about the same time in the game as you. It was so helpful, and I believe they carry over into New Game + so if you visit it in your first game and want to remember to go there in NG+ it will remain as long as you dont clear out that marker.
Just got it this Friday & so I spent part of the weekend trying to learn the basics. Not feeling it so far so I came to watch some videos to see what I’m missing.
You do not have to defeat goldrick to access liurnia of the lakes. There's a detour you can take on your way up to the main castle gate that goes around the castle.
If you've gotten the jellyfish from the spirit tuner before going there this also triggers the Roundtable cutscene and the spirit tuner goes to the Round Table.
I believe they designed it so that you can go around almost everything. Possibly not story specific, but I wouldn’t know I try to slaughter everything I find 🤷🏼♂️
This is my first fromsoft game. What an awesome game. I initially got annoyed at dying and very quickly realized it didn’t matter, as I was getting better and the better I got the more I enjoyed it - a vicious cycle 😂 still early in the game… but damn… love the environment, the enemies, the lack of clarity of what the hell is going on (keeps you guessing!). Thanks for the game Fromsoft!
There are a few keys areas you go first to get seeds, sacred tear, physik flask, smiting stones, and talismans. Then go back and start clearing out the map. They're a talisman that increase runes gain, I have it on all the time.
I feel the same. Although I cuss alot when I'm one hit away and the enemy hits me with an easily dodged attack, and I just fumble and die... 😂 it's like, noooooooooooo, you dummy nooooooooob
Oh my gosh. Thank you for this video. This is my first From Software game and I have been playing Elden Ring for a while now. After watching your video, I’m realizing I probably missed a lot of stuff in the beginning of the game that would really help me later on. Thank you so much for this video.
Getting loss means missing out on tons of things and items to make you stronger, so stupid idea. Plans your route, or have a miserable ass time. I prefer not to have a miserable ass times.
I personally am bad at finding/remembering where I found NPC's, the new character markers on the map will certainly help me but I still think i am missing a lot of NPC quests, I would personally greatly appreciate a dummies video on how to make friends in Elden Ring, thanks for all the great advice!
For your first playthrough, I'd recommend just exploring for them - particularly in the various churches, ruins and shacks. Some will also shout out to you when you're nearby. Regularly talking to the ones you have met can advance their quests and sometimes they'll direct you to new NPCs too. You can find the details of each of them on the wiki but it's easy to accidentally spoil yourself which is why I'd save that for a second playthrough.
@@christolongers yeah tru. I'm a total noob to From Soft games, so I likely walked right past 70% of of the game without a second glance; That's on top of the fact that by no means are these games very interested in explaining what is going on whatsoever.
If you kill them, you can loot their unique item, bring it to the two maidon husks in the roundtable hold and she'll be able to sell those item, centralizing everything available for sale.
This was fantastic. Thank you. I did things a bit out of order, but because of your video, I found I was completely missing an area I should have went to early on.
I'm just getting into the game and this was such an incredible video. Super informative without any major spoilers, just enough details to keep you intrigued
The enemies in the mine in Limgrave are exceptionally weak to fire damage. Buy a torch from the first merchant and use it in your off-hand to strike them. This makes them easy to kill and is good practise for exploring the dark without a shield which isn't always an option. Also map fragments can be seen on the map in undiscovered areas as a little obelisk marker, pretty much the only thing visible on a map before it's discovery.
Thanks for another great video. I never realized what that series of lights on the beach was for. One thing I'd eventually like to see is either a recommended order for the Evergaol, or at least eventually some background lore on their purpose, who is imprisoned, and why. One tip for beginners like me: try to make sure you always have a sacrificial twig in your inventory. That way, if you're carrying a lot of runes and run into a boss fight you're not ready for, you can always equip the twig just before the fight and run in and grab your runes. That way, even if you die again, you'll keep your runes and may be able to level up.
Omg. I needed this guide lol! Lvl 137, good amount of weapons, armors, incarnations etc. And still haven’t gotten to the place that allows you to use boss runes 🤦♂️
Loving these videos, they’re so good! Thank you for doing them! 🙏🏼🙌🏼 One question.. how do you figure out enemy resistances/vulnerabilities? Is it just a case of using each type and seeing which is more/less effective?
On one hand I'd very much recommend playing without a guide. Wandering around gathering resources and stumbling across a mysterious door or cave in a cliff side gives a sense wonderment I've not felt since the 90s. Something that's destroyed by just following a guide to all the best loot and ticking them off like a check list. On the other it's SO easy to miss stuff. What I'd like is some vague hints that nudge you in the right direction while retaining the sense of exploration like "so you see that map marker? Maybe take a wander west from there, see what you find"
A note on great runes: they last until you die, so they insensitive taking your time and being cautious. If you are proficient at staying alive, there's no reason you can't use it everytime you die. I haven't run out yet, and I have around thirty at all times.
Weird. I haven’t run into a 2 key dungeon yet (I think). I’ll have to keep an eye out while I rune farm for the final boss. I’d love to see a Ash of War guide. I didn’t really start using them until 2/3rds the way through. They really make a huge difference, but I have a hard time stopping to experiment.
There's one right before the Stranded Graveyard, before the Grace of The First Step (where you see Tree Sentinel the first time). That's a 2 key Hero's Grave. Just saying, those with the "Hero's Grave" in its name is quite hard.
Ohhhhh! (This is funny realizing it in hindsight.) I guess there were a few ones that had multiple statues. I believe when I originally watched the video that I was thinking they were talking of a single statue requiring two keys. Ya, the Hero / Chariot ones were rough, especially the one where you had to drop on the flat-back chariot.
Aoife these videos are a incredibly helpful, thank you so very much for them. As a suggestion for a future video, possibly some general build guidance, maybe even each of you talking us through how you developed your characters and why (Ian's guide: "made strong so can bonk stuff") - is Zoe playing, and if so, what type of build and equipment? Please keep up the great work, it is hugely appreciated!
I just keep hoarding smithing stones afraid to upgrade because I can't decide what weapon to commit too. Crippled by indecisiveness! Oh and I stumbled across into Caelid early, somehow didn't die !
You can find items called Smithing-Stone Miner's Bell Bearings that you can give to the Twin Maiden Husks in the round table hold that will let you buy unlimited smithing stone from them. They are hard to find, but with them as long as you can get enough ruins you can level up all your weapons if you're not sure which one you want to use.
@@ilikeshinyobjects4970 oooh that's good. My problem is my two favoured weapons are slash/thrust so I fighting rocky enemies can be heavy going so I know I need a blunt but I didn't want to waste my stones !
I got this game on release, played 40 hours and was so overwhelmed by what all this game had to offer. Coming back only makes it feel fresh and even greater.
Battle glintstone smaug on horseback preferably with a bleed weapon. Quick attacks raise his bleed meter and result in a ton of damage. If not he's not much harder than agheel. Just be careful. His attack is no joke
I can't thank you enough for taking the time to make sure those of us that need the little bit of extra help get it. It doesn't take that much but we really appreciate the help when we get it!
Massive thsnk you on these Elden Ring uploads 👌 My 3rd video of urs im watching even before iv played the game just to see whats involved 😂 Omg this games huge ! 😱 ill be getting value for money then paying £32 for the game so thats 😎 Im still extremely overwhelmed tho with all the content yet greatful that its a game that will keep me occupied for a very long time 👏
I'm new to Elden Ring, and its my first Souls game... I thought Caelid was my next destination after Limgrave... I have 70 hours in the game.. I got stuck at Godrick so I said to myself, maybe I should clear the rest of Limgrave and Caelid, Caelid is hell..
I just wandered around on my horse and if I could t easily kill stuff then I’d go somewhere else. They did a good job of incrementing enemy strengths through the map
You never mentioned the turtle pope in Church of vows and his spells you can buy and the fact you can give him ancient dragon spell books in exchange for them too! He has the blessings spell for faith builds! And good intelligence spells too! I never found him for ages!
Rock Sling doesn't do traditional magic damage I heard and seemed very effective against the dragon in Liurnia you fight near the flintstone key. He was just as week to rock sling as the other dragons.
I really want to buy Elden Ring. I'm not a Souls fan, but i love Sekiro. Something about Elden Rings world just looks amazing. And from what I've seen the explanation and discoveries looks great. I'm just really scared i won't like it with the difficulty and all the items. All the items and what they are used for is really confusing me.
As someone who has tried previous From Soft games and bounced off them, I can confirm Elden Ring is much more playable, and a lot of fun. It is still hard, and can be very frustrating (especially for a button-masher like me) but I've sunk a lot of hours into it and I'm still enjoying the game. Definitely recommended.
Thats part of the fun man learning the game looking at all the items reading descriptions doing research That said the game is only hard if you make it that way learn what works and how to get better
I only ever played the first dark souls before this game. It’s very similar and still really hard. But I can’t stop playing it. Get used to dying a lot 😭😭😭
I’ll second the recommendation to go for it. I’d never played a souls game before in my life before Elden Ring, but it’s got me well and truly hooked. The design is super tight, and all the mechanics work seamlessly together with the open world; I haven’t been able to put it down since I got it.
I've played ds1 and sekiro, and if you can play either of those games and enjoy them then I STRONGLY suggest getting Elden Ring. You will not regret it.
Ever thought of doing a complete walkthrough Ellen done dark souls and helped me actually complete dark souls I did it along with them each week. Maybe u guys can do the ring 😂😂 that's if any of u can stand to do it again. But I would probably find it really helpful. 👍👍
Not as helpful as the other videos but that's just because I've gotten a lot farther along in the game, but the tip about the markers was useful because I didn't even know you could do that. Would love if you could do video explaining the different builds, I'm trying to do a faith build but I have no idea if I'm doing it right or spreading my points out to much. Great video wish I had watched something like this when I started the game.
I did exactly what you said on video and I have not seen a change in my rules after 15 minutes is there something else you have to do besides walk down the stairs and then walk up to the safe point ???
so i just started playing and somehow without defeating Godrick I entered the Liurnua of the lake(don't ask me how), within 2-3 hours of playing and I didn't even explored Limgrave till then........no doubt why I thought this game is so stupidly hard XD
i've nearly unlocked all of Liurnia and completely bypassed Stormveil/haven't beaten Margit yet. There's a little side passage that I guess is easily missed because the terrain is weird. I'm just addicted to exploring and opening up the map!
7 hours in and I’m still at the starting map area the “ I don’t wanna miss anything” ocd kicking in. This is the first souls game that I’m trying to actually play through
I've only ever beat this game by watching a full in-depth guide/walkthrough. I get so overwhelmed trying to play this blind. I have no idea where to go, where I should be leveling and questing. What order to do bosses in. What side quests I've picked up and tracking them. It's just too much
Isn't the first time that I see this video, but this time I'm here to know where to go after defeat the shit big boss Raddan(run around and summon npc until he dies). I'm struggling to know where is this mt gelmir, I would appreciate if you did have show the location in the map. My game is in Portuguese, I'm Brazilian. But you sure help with this video, I'm just tired to search where to go next, almost dropping the game.
