Can someone explain what great ruin are. because my understanding is that their fragments of the Elden ring. after Marika broke it. but how could radagon give rennala the amber egg with the great ruin of the unborn. I thought he left her before the shattering. Because it was radagon him self who tried to fix it after he and Marika became one. Seems like a plot hole but I may be wrong can someone explain
Haven't even seen the video But Rennala was done dirty by the golden order, from her perspective, her husband abandoned her, her Son Rykard is a monster, Radhan is cursed to forever wander, and Ranni to her eyes is dead and gone forever
@@greyworld6242 yeah, makes you think how the Golden Order corrupted Radagon into becoming and controlling Marika, but he still wouldn't let go of what Rennala meant to him, at least before everything went to shit
She was a total badass. She met the Golden Order in 2 wars, ending with the leader of the Order marrying her. The Golden Order had demigods (at least Godwyn) and Marika on their side. Rennala and Raya Lucaria had skilled sorcerers and warriors. They were able to stand their ground against gods!
@@arryn786 because her own people resented her for what she had become, which was weak and fragile. She was forced to lock herself away in case they tried getting her
I really don't see Radagon as someone who will just give up on a person. I believe Marika sent Radagon to kill the Carian family, but realized that she got a better tool to use instead. The challenge would have been bringing Radagon back to Leyndell, which Im still working on.
The lore breakdowns by way of looking at the boss themes are great, and no one else im aware of is doing thorough lore examinations this way, keep it up.
There's the lore from texts, the lore from the environments, and the lore from the sound. The community that dedicated themselves to uncovering the various stories in the Lands Between is quite astonishing!
Happily married with three kids. Suddenly one day Radagon up and leaves her with no explanation, he takes the kids, he lets her keep his dog and some amber, he then takes her marriage gift (her moonlight greatsword) and reforges it to honor his new wife and his religion: the golden order. It's no wonder she's so depressed. Edit: I think that Radagon had I his own will and did love his first wife. But let's not forget who and what he serves first: The Greater Will and Marika. Its "will" will always override his own even if by his choice or not.
One thing I'm not sure you touched on? Perhaps I missed it, but second phase Rennala isn't actually Rennala but Ranni literally emulating her mother. Ranni has such high respect for Rennala and it shows when she speaks before second phase, Ranni knows how the Golden Order broke Rennala completely and drove her other family to extremes. I have no doubt that Ranni's death pushed Rennala over the edge. But Ranni did so to choose her own fate, to destroy the Golden Order and bring back her family's legacy. It's incredibly tragic.
Radagon being in Marika's control is something I thought about a lot. Marika had a lot planned since the beginning when she banished the tarnished, she also had connections with the black knives though of which nature we cant be sure, shattering the ring also means that though she was vessel to the elden ring and thus to the elden beast and the greater will she still had some degree of freedom and secrecy from the entities allowing her to weave her own plot. Her echoes told by Melina at her chambers are ambiguous to Radagon's nature but hear me out: ''O Radagon, leal hound of the Golden Order. Thou'rt yet to become me, thou'rt yet to become a god. Let us both be shattered, mine other half''. Some use this line to claim that they werent one in the beginning but I think time is important here. The twins were born from one god and thus were cursed, Malenia's rememberance states this, very incestuous if you ask me but it means they became one before the children were born not after so when was the line to Radagon spoken and what did she mean by''thou'rt yet to become me''? In what state do we find them? Imprisioned as one, though he tried to fix the elden ring, Radagon too was arrested and joined back with Marika, when the player enters the Erdtree, Marika falls but it is Radagon who grasps the hammer and they are both very very shattered. It seems like the line was spoken much later in the timeline, after the twins were born, maybe even after night of the black knives, Marika predicted their fate though maybe she didnt tell him of how it would come to be. Miriel states that an sculptor made an estatue of Radagon that harboured the same secret as him, hinting that it was made relatively early and that almost no one knew of it. Given all that I said above, I think it's perfectly reasonable that Marika had Radagon as her pawn, with or without his knowlegde, from the very beginning. Radagon being Marika all along could also be the main reason why Rennala's children were made demi-gods. If Marika had Radagon marry Rennala to weaken her, why make her children demi-gods? One an empyrean even. Maybe weaking Rennala wasn't even the true objective but a war ending with one's champion marrying the enemy leader seems a bit odd doesnt it? After all Miriel says that there were doubts as to why a mere champion was made elden lord so more people were scratching their heads.
Very astute take. I suspect radagon and renala came together by their own volition, but marika and radagon's relationship seem to be where (in the timeline) the lines get blurred as to whos will is being realized.
@@markop.1994 Indeed, I thought the last boss fight was a bit odd. If the two fingers and the elden beast serve the greater will, why is Radagon willing or even allowed to block the entrance? Ratatoskr just put out a video saying that the greater will does not care for the golden order so maybe Radagon did side with Marika after all, or maybe he is caught in the conflict between the two, assuming Ratatoskr is right of course.
Good analysis! I do think that Marika and Radagon have always been one being. Kind of like D and his twin: two bodies, two minds, one soul. Like you said, Radagon and Rennalas children are demi-gods, so they must have come from a god (Marika). Miriel also states that it was strange how Radagon was called to be King Consort, as he was only a champion. Once Marika, through Radagon, learned of the stars/moon, she made Radagon come home. Radagon then incorporated intelligence into the Golden Order and that brought. From Rogier: "That the Golden Order was pliable enough to absorb practices that contradicted itself in the past. With the Order broken, twisted, and in need of repair, such adaptability is more important now than ever." Maybe that was her goal? Or just a happy coincidence that worked in her favour?
These episodes showcasing the musical score are really unique, and they stand out against the huge pile of Elder Ring content on RU-vid. This is my favorite song on the OST, and the way you break it down is pretty amazing, so keep up the good work. More please.
Poor Rennala… Abandoned by the person who loved the most Her two sons corrupted by two ignominious forces Her daughter died and she’ll never know what truly happened to her And her academy and house revealed against her It’s truly sad and I just feel pity for her
Running a melee build i killed her to fast to really appreciate the fight and music but going back as a sorcerer the music was awesome and it felt like a battle of 2 actual mages which was cool. Definitely came off the list of bosses I considered scrubs
Love this unique take on ER lore! It’s like my two favorite types of videos got married…music theory YT essays and ER lore analysis. This rules. My two special interests converging.
I really appreciate your out of the box thinking and multimedia approach to lore analysis. Would love to see more interpretations that explore different aspects of the game’s art direction like the ost
The music was incredible, haunting and beautiful. Reminds me a lot of Nier Automata. Thank you for the video Ziostorm. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you, I've been looking forward to an OST analisys from you guys, hope there'll be more vids like this - I love when somebody describes in words what we all feel from music on an instinctual level. Chordvessel - we'd love to see more collabs
Rennala's life in a nutshell; - Performed a magic show for an elementary school and got promoted to principal - Got into a cage match with Jesus himself - Married Jesus - Had 3 kids; A snake, a midget, and a fat guy - Midget child commits kinda-suicide - Snake child gets willingly vore'd - Fat child gets hit on the head too hard by his step-sister - Jesus files for divorce - Rennala kept the dog - Elementary school tries to fire her, but fails since she has tenure, so they lock her in the library with disabled choir children
Dude, this has been said a lot by others, but I really want to give my appreciation and deep, deep thanks for your lore vids. The meanings you analyse in the OST has completely changed the way I experience this awesome game. Keep up the good work!!
I think it’s interesting how much you broke down the expressions in the music as a musician myself. But I think it’s fascinating how everyone seems to think Rennala, this Queen, this normal human (of the lands between) woman sorcerer would just break mentally completely because of her heart being broken. Keep in mind it was more than heartbreak that she’s endured. Rennala was also in love with an aspect of a god. A god who was a direct servant and perhaps even possessed by an outer god (the greater will) Keeping in mind how much Lovecraftian themes permeate this game and the writings of George r r Martin, I’d say it’s a safe bet to assume the feeble minds of mortals in close proximity to such a being can be made to bend til breaking. Lastly, it’s vital to note what became of Rennala’s children and that the whole time she speaks in the library, she never once makes mention of her sorrows. She speaks only over mothering someone who needs to be reborn anew. She coos and comforts. Additionally all of those “sweetings” are the same exact person. Rennala lost her daughter Ranni to suicide because Ranni defied the golden order. The very thing that motivated her husband to leave and whose orchestrator was perhaps possessing him. She also lost Rykard to madness and violent sociopathy. Lastly she lost Radahn who seemed to care so little for the well-being of his mum’s side of the family that he would literally use his sorceries to subdue their power, rendering them entirely overshadowed by the power of the golden order. Could it be that Rennala is trying to rebirth Ranni! That each of these sweetings are aspects of Ranni’s physical form, devoid of her spirit? Could it be that Rennala is attempting to rebirth herself? Perhaps using Albinauric hosts as bodies? None of the sweetings can use their legs… Just things I think people gloss over…
I don't think they are rebirths of Ranni, for the sole reason that Ranni's natural hair color is red like the rest of her full siblings, not black. If you check the Liurnia divine tower, you can see the body that Ranni cast away, and it's hair is still tinged red.
I wonder if Ranni's entire reason for going against the Golden Order was because of her mother Rannla. I mean, she comes to her mother's defense which is really the only real show of care we get from any of the Demigods towards their parents. Morgot in a way, but I don't remember him calling out a parent by name, his loyalty seemed more broad. Could Ranni of find out that the Golden Order was why Radagon left her mother and put her in that state. And then her and maybe even her brother Rykard both angered by this knowledge then started their planning to destroy the Golden Order and their gods, but just disagreed on how to do it. I mean, we never see Rykard mention his mother, but we know he had something to do with Ranni's plans or at least was aware. Then we have Radahn, who we know at the very least to pride in his father's red hair. Which could be a indicator he was more in favor of his father's wishes at least in someway. Also knew either why Radagon left or was told of Ranni's plan same as Rykard but was against it. Which is why he's been holding back the stars (meteors) cause he knew from Ranni bringing her plan to him for him also to join. That the meteor revealing Nekron, was a important key to her plan. I'm sure someone already theorized this, I just haven't seen it🤷🏿♂️
To think that the first phase of the ost had already answered Renala's state of mind. In her 2nd phase, it's a Ranni's projection of Renala on what she used to be. The once Formidable Queen of The Carian Manor. To be betrayed by someone you loved would have broke anyone's mind The bigger they are, the harder they fall, so to say. All and all, I'm really impressed with this video on covering the Renala's lore through the sound of OST.
Okay, head cannon time and speculation. Keeping in mind the particulars of when Radagon was "yet to become" Marika is still unknown. I think Marika sent out Radagon to make peace with Raya Lucaria. Before Marika and the Greater Will had no problem beating opposition into submission. I believe when it came to Raya Lucaria Marika observed that brute force wasn't working and Radagon was used as an attempt to convert them to the Golden Order. Perhaps it was Marika who proposed wait, let me try something else. However, unless an entire culture was willing to completely abandon their ways the GW would be unmoved by this because the things the Carian Royals and citizens pursue ultimately lead to another Outer God and the GW is having none of that. Peaceful coexistence isn't good enough. Conversion must be absolute. So then Godfrey gets unceremoniously divorced from Marika, Radagon gets recalled and leaves the amber egg. I believe perfect rebirth actually happens under the condition of being in absolute alignment with the Golden Order. Which really sad because it would mean Rennala would have to actively abandon her own identity and heritage so thoroughly. Perhaps this is what Ranni is referring to when she says, "I would not be controlled by that thing." It's willful identity suicide. The amber egg is less a loving consolation gift and more of sinister parting ultimatum in line with Radagon's fundamentalism. Really think for a moment. When has dumping a person ever involved parting with a benevolent gift? No, it usually come with, this is why I'm leaving and this is what's wrong with you if it comes with anything. Unfortunately, Marika is in the position where good intentions go horribly wrong. I think this is where her alleged doubts about the GW stem from. I don't believe the GW would have had any problem allowing Godfrey to roll through Raya Lucaria. Maybe Marika was intrigued by the ideas of looking to the stars spread by the Raya Lucarians rather than be so preoccupied with the Lands Between and whether not someone was on the right side of the GO. And so she planted Radagon there as a way to prevent the GW from siccing Godfrey on this culture she wanted to protect.
really like your theory here. a very small detail concerning the thought the egg would be a lot more sinister than thought: Raya Lucaria and Liurnia are in a sense 'dominated' by a single bird - the cuckoo. i mean we've got the knights of the cuckoo wandering through Liurnia and in Raya Lucaria we've got the church of the cuckoo and even the little birds you see kept in some cages might be some cuckoos. and well, it is known that cuckoos have other birds taking care of their eggs. to me, it doesn't seem to be too far fetched to believe that this is some hit something similar is happening here
what radagon did with rennala via the egg, marika did to godrick via serosh. introduced a parasite that removed a key part of their identity. pretty devious thing to do to a former enemy to make sure they can regain power.
I definitely believe Radagon was always part of Marika which is why their children all possessed great runes and are considered Empyreans. Either Radagon didn't realize this at first (and left when he finally did), or he knew and had a plan for Rennala. Perhaps Marika (as Radagon) was simply trying to find a powerful and worthy mother to birth the Empyreans that would become Ranni, Rykard, and Radahn.
Lovely video, thanks for this breakdown. I have a suspicion that Rennala had a miscarriage of some kind and lost herself. The amber egg does hold the rune of the unborn, perhaps this was originally destined for the child.
I figured the same since it said rune of the unborn and all the sweetings are born of the egg and look the same. So maybe the baby miscarried and she's trying to rebirth it and that's why they can't walk and act childlike, because they have the spirit of a baby.
I like the idea that Radagon actually did care for Rennala, I mean he did give her a great rune, and made three demigod children with her whom he took with him. That seems like too much of a legacy to give an enemy. However I think the greater will or Marika forced Radagon to return, which would make it all the more heartbreaking for Rennala. After all if Radagon was just using and left, it would be painful true, but I imagine one could get over it. However if Radagon actually loved Rennala and was forced to leave and she knew that, then she'd know that Radagon still cared for her and that would make it far more difficult for her to get over him as she couldn't as easily just turn her despair into anger towards him. That's just my take on it though.
I saw a theory not too long ago that said the rune he gifts her was probably not given out of love. The Rune of the Unborn lets people reincarnate, but since the rune of death was taken and people can't actually truly die, there'd be no need for reincarnation. Since there's no real need for the rune, he gives it to Rennala, and the fact that the Rune can kill you and even effect your mind if not used correctly makes the situation a lot more sinister. Rennala did not deserve any of this. 😔
I’ve always been a lore sleuth and extreme Elden ring gamer (now over 800 hours and two different characters), and your channel is one of my favorites. While this was an amazingly fresh Elden ring lore video, the thing I smiled the most about is this: My Dancing Inil build is using Hoslow’s Petal Whip with Thunderbolt. Superb work. I can tell we are kindred Tarnished!
Additionally, this video reminded me of why Ranni is an Empyrean. Each of the four known Empyreans are superbly powerful (Miquella is my favorite, but Gloam-Eyed Queen is a close second), but I forget this fact: Phase two, while showing you the power of Rennala and her Full Moon, is but a spirit of Rennala essentially conjured by Ranni using her Dark Moon. The fact that she can create something that powerful, miles away inside a doll whilst not even having her fate and the stars is just other worldly OP. Fighting each of the demigods we tarnished don’t fight would be a terrifying prospect; Even Malenia is no where near her peak self when we fight her. “A Tarnished can never be a lord”. Gideon would have been right if it weren’t for the shattering 😳 Now I just feel like a lowly leech taking over a ruined world advantageously. Smart, but still opportunistic. My quest to be, or even understand what it means, to be a Lord is far from over.
So much tragedy, so many more questions. Why is it that when the young scholars are rebirthed they crawl around like infants or the Albinaurics? Yet they retain they cognitive ability to perform magic. Why at the end of phase one Rennala appears in the "real" world as a summon? Why would Marika/Radagon leave Rennala an amber egg that can rebirth people anew when there are more than a few full grown sorcerers currently at the academy and out in the world? Ranni was already born and learning magic from the snow queen and Sellen and the other primordial sorcerers were the biggest threats to the golden order. I can go on and on. Damn you From Soft, for writing such a great (but vague) story and making such a good game!! Great video.
Nice video. I believe the Greater Will sent Radagon to fuse with Marika to keep her in line, maybe they already knew or suspected that she was disillusioned with the Golden Order. Radagon left willingly, as his dury and his purpose was to serve the Golden Order. He probably saw this as a calling from the gods where he would become a saint for the order. He obviously still loved Rennala, so he gave her the Amber egg and sealed the entire academy for safety. Its his great rune sign we see outside on both entrances to the academy.
One of ER's strongest elements certainly come from their characters...There are some seriously thought-provoking npcs and enemies/bosses that plague this world.
I can't help but wonder if the Full and Dark moons are but a reflection of the states of mind of Rennala, i believe that Ranni is just Marika-Radagon's daughter, left behind presumably within the egg (¿?) or maybe even abandoned after the departure -this would also explain why ranni is an empyrean-... and that the Dark Moon she found is either her awakening to herself within the -ainsel(f) river- or that the "new" mind-shattered Rennala was cold and dark and thus when Rennala found Ranni she inspired that sort of cold sorceries, but i could be totally wrong. Either way now is Ranni who represents the Moon in those phases.
Just wanted to say I really enjoy your take on the lore! Love this video, I also think to kinda piggie back off this it would be cool to see your take on radagons lore as well!! Keep up the hard work!
that would actually give marika a reason to take on the radagon form as well, if it was for subterfuge against Rennala. not sure if marika/radagon were always two sides of the same coin, or if they were fused together in some process.
Mhh... I dont think that Radagon is under Marika's control in the "traditional" way, since at one point its hinted that Marika and Radagon are "one and the same". Where my theory goes that Radagon is more like a "sub Identity" of Marika and only had one specific task to fight Warrior-Queen Rennala and protect the "status quo". Which went nearly as planed until Radagon, mutated/evoled, which caused him to fell in love with Rennala. Untill Marika got back "control over" Radagon and "made" him leave Rennala. Generally you dont wake up and leave with out any major "cause". But I could be wrong, which makes this game and the videos to it so interessting =)
If you follow the lead dropped to you by the turtle priest at the church of vows, you learn a mildly disturbing secret. Radagon IS Marika. Poor Rennala never had a melted mushroom's chance in the grip of the three fingers of keeping her 'husband'. I am more convinced however, that she's not rebirthing herself, but ceaselessly attempting to rebirth Ranni. Unfortunately, Ranni deliberately severed all ties to corporeal mortality, leaving all attempts at rebirth resulting in crippled 'sweetings'.
Very cool breakdown! I enjoyed that thoroughly. I am a bit of a Bloodborne fan boy and i have to admit, the even more vague way in which this game is presenting is story is not a draw for me. I'm hooked due to the gameplay and open world innovation. I guess i should listen to more videos
I already had a deep appreciation for the score of this game, but you took that to another level. Thank you for going so deep into this, especially the music!
I feel like Phase 2, more than a feeling of suspention, gives a sense of remembering something after being awoken from a deep slumber - like vairous neurons firing at the same time It's also as if the moonlight restores Rennala's full potential (even if only through a projection)
I like how not grand her boss music is. It's just you killing her students to break her force field to get to her. I felt like the villain in this scenario, not her.
I have a sneaking suspicion... that they had a 4th child. Which was (stillborn) and that when she was grieving the loss of a child. Radagon left her there/then, at this point. Leaving a token of this Rune (of the unborn) which permanently reminds her of this loss. 4-being an ominously bad number in japanese-culture. I wouldn't be surprised that this whole encounter, is allegorically refering to the loss of a baby. Which is traumatic to any mother/couple and deeply traumatising. No matter Marika's plans and/or Radagon's involvment in it. The children they produced where all (imperfect). Perhaps this was a trial/test. And since Ranni was produced an Empyrean. 1/3 is still good odds. Notice, that there are 3 children produced With Godfrey (Godwyn, Morgott, Mogh) 3 Children through Renalah; Ranni, Rabahn and Rykar ... (A 4th still born child?) 3 Children through Radagan; Miquella, Malenia... (The 3rd suspected to be Melina?) 2 of Marika's children (as Mtoher/Father) are always cursed/deformed. 1 is always closest to (un-tarnished), or not cursed.
iirc, the scholars in the academy aren't serving rennala, they're her jailers. after radagon left and ranni's death, rennala is stuck in mourning. this resulted in a civil war between raya lucaria vs carian royal family, and raya lucaria won. keeping rennala in the academy, like a hostage to subdue the carian royal knights.
Rulers have children for lineage and legacy, but why would an immortal need such a thing? Perhaps these demigod children were attempts to create the ultimate being depicted in alchemy, a True God to rule the golden order. Through the union of sun and moon, Radagon and Renalla's marriage may have been just such an attempt. And when that union for whatever reason was deemed to have failed to produce suitable offspring, Radagon was called back to Marika for a different approach (which it would seem came the closest, producing another pair of opposites, the twins of abundance and decay.) Maybe Renalla is obsessed with rebirth because she thinks if she can just create that perfect child, the one that Radagon actually wants, he'll come back to her. Oh no I've made myself sad.
I shouldn't have skipped the mid fight cutscene. Never realized I wasn't actually fighting Rennala, I was fighting Ranni's conjuration of her mother at full power and focus.
Well shoot, I always wondered about why the scholars were crawling, I thought some magic was weighing them down, now I know, dang, that cuts deep! By the way found out about you Through Lost. But now a new subscriber!
Hate to be that professional musician guy, but the analysis isn't... really... .. er.. It's all very consistently on the F minor scale, and the vibrato doesn't "grow" :) When the choir joins, they're basically singing C and F, which are the 2 most "consonant" notes with the scale. When the cello joins, it also plays a solidly F- melody, centering around the C, so there's no contradiction really between any of the parts. Perhaps just talking about how the music "feels" would be more appropriate. That said, I'm certain, from having worked on such projects, that the composer was given full context for every scene.
I noticed some misconceptions/misunderstandings in your video. 1) Rennala is locked away by the Raya Lucaria Academy, not by Radagon. The Carian royals & the academy have always had a rivalry. When Rennala showed her exceptional magical abilities & became ruler of the academy she briefly united both factions for the first time in history. Her reverence of the moon clashed with the academy’s regard for the stars. There was always underlying tension in the academy, so when Radagon left, and Rennala became a husk of her former self, the academy locked her away to regain control over the academy. 2) Rennala isn’t continually rebirthing herself, she is trying to rebirth Ranni. Rennala is unaware of Ranni’s doll identity, she believes that Ranni died after the night of black knives. Ranni places a protective spell on her mother to protect her from afar, because she doesn’t want to reveal her new identity to her mother.
Game directly tells Radagon is Marika. Even tho we don’t specifically know if Radagon was always Marika or did they merge into one after Radagon abandoned Rennala but I believe it’s the former. Marika had plan A to have her male part Radagon to fight Academy of Raya Lucaria, but if didn’t work and indeed it didn’t, plan B was to let Radagon marry Rennala then abandon her to driver her crazy, therefore destroy the Academy.
Very interesting way to interpret the lore. The OST in From Soft games is truly a way to convey important bits of the story I feel. Bro you plan to do a video about Malenia and the stuff related to her? Like Milicent and Melina having weird skin in some parts of their bodies or why Melina outfit is found on a small aeonia blossom just before Malenia boss fight? What if Melina eye mark isn't a Crow but a Dragon foot? She dislocates you to Farum Azula and it's exactly there where you find a way to revert the Lord of Frenzy ending using Miquella Needle (accquired after defeating Malenia). I also wonder about that line on Malenia remembrance talking about a third blossom needed for her to become a full goddess. In her boss arena her big Aeonia blossom appears where she died, which is kinda odd, no? (maybe a tease for a boss fight on a future Miquella dlc?)
So I get the interpretation of the root cause of her suffering and mental break being Radagon leaving her, and that's certainly what the turtle pope tells you, but everything about her seems more like she's mourning the death of Ranni and is desperately trying to undo it in the only way she knows how. Radagon seems to have given her a key to it, but we all know that rebirth is a futile effort in the lands between in every method/civilisation that practiced it.
So cool, though one thing this game do worse than its predecessors is that music is turn all the way up yet I diddnt know there was an OST in this fight. And this is a good reason for rennala to be sad. The music is too shy in the bossfights sadly.
Ranni attacking us to kill makes me not regret making her go away (you can't kill her, but can make her go away by attacking her) when we weren't even intending to kill her mother (hell she attacked us first making it self defense)
@@camila_costa12 if we wanted to kill Rennala we wouldev finished her off when she was crawling to her egg. Our character isn't bloodthirsty, plus upon killing the illusion we get the Great Rune. Not by killing Rennala herself. Most of the other bosses wielding a Great Rune actively try to kill us in cold blood forcing us to return it. Also, upon defeating Rennala we can't even finish her off as the room she's in is protected. So I don't think out Tarnished wanted to kill her more so defended themself from her. Ranni is the one actively trying to kill us, Rennala was not she was simply defending herself.
Great Video! Lore perspective through music, genius! But does no one listen to what's said after the first fight?? "Upon my name is RANNI THE WITCH!!!" (sorry for the aggression!) "Mother's rich slumber shall not disturbed by thee! Foul trespasser! Send word far and wide. Of the last Queen of Caria, Rennala of the Full Moon. And the majesty of the night she conjureth." - I think it's a remembrance we fight in the second phase like Godfrey the Golden in Leyndell, conjured by Ranni, so no one can kill the true Rennala! She's maybe the most powerful character in the hole game! Its the "second" land we visit and her full moon magic requests an intelligence of near 70!!! And if you got the magic scorpion talisman and was by Ranni to give her the drink (I tried it!) after three tries to talk with her, she kills you with a SNAP! I don't know what I wanna say exactly... but Ranni is behind more than it appears...
4:15 lmao poor sellen in the background .also 2nd phase isnt even rennala (apologies if you've mentioned it). it is actually ranni protecting her mother...
What do you think happens at the end of Sellen's story? (If you side with her, that is) I believe the sight of an old troublemaker from back when she was the head of the academy brings Rennala back to lucidity, if only to punish Sellen for good. It is certainly possible Ranni's projection bested her instead though. We know Sellen can't truly die as long as her glintstone is intact, so instead her body and the bodies of Azur and Lusat were fused together, leaving her in unending agony.
Listen when you defeat rannala she cries for ranni which is supposed to be reborn in the egg she holds now I think what we need to realize is the doll that's ranni is supposed to be possessing is not ranni hear me out when you find ranni body it's burned to a crisp but not godwyns now in my opinion it's safe to say Melina is the dusk eyed queen and I believe she is the one who possessed the doll thus explaining why they look alike and why they both seem to have the same goal and have torrent in common now the dusk eyed queen power was the black flame and destined death which is why malikeths power and her power is similar this would also explain why iji blaid and seluvis are assassinated by black knives and some who has the power of black flame which we know only godskin and the gloam eye queen had the power of it so I believe renalla wanted to bring ranni back this is why she seems to be obsessed with it it would explain why ranni ring is locked where renalla is because ranni is in fact dead and that isn't her that's in the doll
Rennala we fight is a ghost of the past not the real Rennal, just like we summon spirits thats is Rennala spirit that ranni remember, rannis rune is ilussion
… so rahnala got the rebirth rune from radagon? Sounds like marika turned herself into radagon to pull a sneaky on rahnala. We see morgot rename himself when he fights you in the lands between so people didn’t know it was him so maybe he got this idea from his mother since she would rebirth herself as radegon to fight in and keep the illusion that she was always in the capital. I think this is the case since we never see marika in game but radegon is pinned to the crescent which is marikas symbol and she even had a statue covered with her new body (the statue that changes). I’m not 100% on when all the children were born but all the children between radegon and marika have curses almost as if they were Inbreed. I’m sure there are more things I could think of but I would need to arrange them better
