Died to Bayle the first time because I had just killed the lighting dragon and thought that was the boss, died, went back saw Igons summon, brought him in and proceeded to maul Bayle to death instantly with the help of the dung eater, Bayle never stood a chance 😂😂😂😂 str summon poise man that’s all it takes
@@impatientimp3292 If he can even hit the dragon. A lot of the time Igon will use Dragon Communion incants but no where near Bayle due to how much ground the dragon covers. Sometimes he'll fire his harpoon but it'll often miss due to again how much Bayle moves.
@@owlsoda That’s funny considering the fact that I was stuck on Bayle for two and a half days, I eventually found out I can get Igon to help me out with the battle and then I managed to kill dread dragon almost at the same time as he killed my character and win the fight

During the “CURSE YOU BAYLE” monologue, I can FEEL the visceral anger, the gnashing of teeth, and the unyielding devotion to the absolute demise of the foul Dread. The VA’s performance is immaculate
All for a throwaway questline in some f*ckoff corner of the map with no story significance. This man, by himself, will reveal the entire southern part of the dlc to many. One damn good voice actor. He might legitimately win VA of the year. I hope he's at least nominated.

@@Dan-Ky-KangDrakes, by the standards of fantasy that is used in even Elden Ring and Darksouls, have 4 limbs. Two legs and two wings. Bayle is a Drake, a really damn powerful one, but a drake through and through. The dragons have 4 legs (the 2 in the front are used more like arms more often) and separate wings on the back. This classification is consistent in many games and media. TLDR: Bayley is a Drake, not a dragon
It actually feels like it's Igon who is haunting Bayle, not the opposite. Imagine you are a severely injured dragon that just fries a hunter that hard, that he cannot even walk, and then this hunter's ghostly figure appears with another hunter, who is even stronger, and screams at you
@@СашаАндреев-м4л Bayle and the ancient dragons do have intelligence. Bayles arms and legs are missing. Igons arms and legs are missing/left a bloody mess (he asks you to conjure his spirit using a finger he detaches from his destroyed limb). I can only assume Bayle inflicts the same injuries as a way to torment or cause "dread" There has to be one way Bayle earned his title "the dread" for the rest of their immortal eternity.
@@ZephyrsOfficial Bayle's injuries (at least huge part of them) was inflicted by Plasidusax, the same way Plasidusax's 2 heads are gone due to the fight with Bayle, and it is the reason why dragon priestess was there, asking to kill Bayle

According to an interview he did the recording session lasted like 6 hours. 6 hours of this man just SCREAMING HIS THROAT RAW. Dude didn’t even know the context of these lines and was impressed by the final product.

I think what makes his performance so incredibly enjoyable to listen to is that as you start suffering from the raging madness of all the failed attempts, this is generally the range you start to hit lol, so its just incredibly like: yes, he gets it, and we are in this together XD he's just such an awesome supporting guy, "a true drake warrior, and I, Igon", hes like we in this together, and I think that's beautiful lol

It’s the genuine hatred and anger in his voice that gets me. This is the voice of a man that has done this fight many many times. And he shall have his revenge.
I know I'm gonna get foamed for this, but I ended up killing Igon before starting his quest because I didn't know that he did anything and I wanted his armor. Please don't hate me, next run I won't kill him.

I gave up on the dlc. I really wanted elden ring to be the first souls game I finally beat, but I gave up due to the difficulty spike at the start of the dlc. But hearing the absolute madlad Igon cackle in the face of his fear makes me feel some kind of resolve deep in my chest. Man was beaten into nothing, and still managed to find the strength to keep fighting, so I'll do the same
Just make a mad dash for some of the early scardutree fragments, that will help you a lot. I can understand if you don't like guides, but you could check a video to get the ones you can pick right away without going in to any legacy dungeon or advancing the story, with that you can easily reach lvl. 5 in like 10 minutes.
You can still farm runes in base game and get stronger, don't give up yet! Even it you go way over levelled it's fine. Get some more levels and upgrade your stuff, you can even summon and have a blast with coop. It's your journey, take it slow one step at a time you don't have to make it difficult and unenjoyable for yourself. Try dex-arc + rivers of blood, most enemies and bosses suffers bleeding a lot, that katana has fire damage too. I believe in you!

Igon is the best NPC in the history of souls. The embodiment of the player, that after dying countless times to the mighty boss, always come back angrier and cussing for the whole fight. That's totally me

@@YOOT_JJBritish extras always end up being the best actors out there, I’m glad the localisation team of the FS always gives chances to actors like this instead of going with established ones of the industry. Not only does it save them money, but it also prevents repetition within the industry, gives smaller actors the spotlight, and gives us performances like this.
@@SalvageET i think because fromsoft world is fillled with a lot of minor characters with minor character arcs, so they could afford more risks. Like if Igon VA fumbled it then oh well , no big deal just another character . But when it hits right you have....results like this. With more major characters such as Sekiro Wolf that speaks from beginning to the end of the game i think they went with more established name...not like Sekiro needed a lot of performance with how emotionless he is hehe.

@@alinalisan3361 Igon and dragons. Aegon and dragons. Coincidence? I think not! It's plausible this storyline was written years ago, before the release of the base game. After all Bayle has a deep connection with Placidusax, which is part of the lore of thousands of years ago, which is part of the material George wrote. Maybe he didn't write Igon's dialogue, but could very well have been involved in the concepts of Bayle and some Ahab type character looking for revenge

Absolutely massive kudos to Richard Lintern for this amazing performance. It takes _a lot_ to completely steal the stage presence when your co-star is basically Dragon Satan, but he went and did exactly just that. Hope we'll see more of him in the future. 👏👏👏
I think the amazing part about Igon is that alongside how much he hypes us up for this fight and helps us, we are also helping him. This is a quest for retribution, and when it's done we brought Igon's soul peace. It's literally as he says, his body is broken beyond repair but his spirit endures to fight with us. It's one of the most beautiful NPC questlines From has done and despite Igon dying it's a very happy and cathartic ending for his questline.
Agreed. Everyone likes to say how depressing most Souls NPCs are and how their questlines often end in a tragedy, but Igon (like Alexander for example) gets to go out with peace of mind, which is enough to make it a "good ending" to me.
There was a comment I saw that I fully agree with. With how a lot of NPC questlines end typically in fromsoft games, Igon and Ansbach have the two most legit "Good" endings to their quests. Both ultimately are about retribution and they both achieve it in the end with your help, and pass away with their souls at rest for doing what was right.

I usually try to solo bosses without summons, but after a while I realized this boss was too frustrating to be fought alone so I decided to summon this guy, and BOY am I glad I did. Definitely feels like the way the boss is intended to be fought.
To be honest I'm still too proud to summon him. But I maked a compromise with myself : if I'm able to nearly defeat Bayle at least 2-3 times with a flask left ,than I'm sure I'm able to defeat him solo. This way I had it my way but I also wouldn't miss out this amazing NPC.
as far as I am concerned any summon who's sign is actively *inside* the boss arena, (Igon at Bayle, Hornsent and Jolan at Messmer, Thollier at the putrescent knight etc. .) are fair game, they are *meant* to be summoned as the fight is part of their character arc
@@jacobdoswalt yeah I only found out about Jolan recently, but I had Hornsent with me for the fight, not sure exactly where you need to talk to him to trigger it, but his sign was there for me

Before the start of the DLC, before Bayle was revealed, I changed my character's name to Drake Hunter D. This story made the journey even more memorable

Hitting bayle into his second phase/ him flying up while igon is screaming and the music is shouting is a peak gaming moment. Like a god damn movie I had chills beating that boss
