I instantly fell in love with the Bloody Helice once I laid eyes on it. ❤ I have tried several other builds, characters, and runs. However I always come back to my first bloody love. The reach, the finesse, the blood!...and the fashion 😉 It's my absolute favorite (although it is certainly not the most powerful weapon)
I made a pure incantations build with charms like blue dancer charm so i have to try and figure out a way to not get hit by bosses but i get damage buffs according to how little I get hit. For example the blue dancer charm means i get no armor if i want higher attack, ritual sword talisman buffs but only at full health, and howl of shibriri buffs all my dmg at the cost of taking more damage (but since I would die to most things in one shot anyway, it is only a plus; but its only a plus for me because I want to play in this way. for many people that would be an awful experience lol.)
My first time playing Dark Souls I made an archer. Played primarily with the black bow. I’ve done that for my first playthrough on DS2 and 3. I’ve had the most fun doing a Black Bow build in Elden Ring. It’s not optimal but I’ve enjoyed the challenge and offering players range support.
I run a black flame build that focuses on the black flame tornado skill because it's unique in the way that the damage over time effect stacks with itself unlike every other black flame spell which just resets the timer. You can only get BFT as an AoW after defeating the godskin duo so that makes this a NG+ build. BFT is a skill that scales with faith and deals fire damage so we run everything to help with that. Flame art infusion to get split physical and fire damage with high faith scaling in our weapon, flame grant me strength, body buff of choice (golden vow or rallying standard are the best options) fire scorpion charm, old lord's talisman, shard of Alexander, and Millicent's prosthesis (this can be swapped out depending on the weapon you're using, I use the godskin peeler for thematic purposes.) An interesting thing about the old lord's talisman is that it also affects the timer on black flame's damage over time, so instead of it being 2 seconds, it's more like 2.5 which in higher NG+ cycles gets exponentially better. With the high faith investment you also have access to just about the whole incantation library, I like to use black flame as a ranged option, black blade to start off boss fights with (this damage over time stacks with both itself and black flame so if you wanna use mimic tear it gets exponentially better) and catch flame is nice as a quick burst damage option for short attack windows against bosses. You can run whatever else you'd want here, I like frenzied burst since it's the longest reaching spell in the entire game and has pretty decent damage. Against the right enemies or in the right attack windows, you can get a fully charged BFT which just melts away at a boss's hp like it's nobody's business. It's really fun to see the health bar just shrink That's my build and I have a lot of fun with it

Well this June I’m going to start the playthru for my DLC character and make an everything build. There is a way to evenly distribute runes across every stat so in that playthru I’m basically going to almost have every single weapon str/dex weapon available plus incantations and spells and it’s actually a viable build. And that’s not even considering the DLCs weapons. I’d say the best build in Elden Ring is one that’s versatile enough and provides good damage. Nothing against single stat builds like going full Str (I’m going to be doing that when the DLC drops). But having most of the stuff available to you is fun. Oh and btw I droped a sub gonna stick around with these tiny souls channels :)
I love that perspective and the idea that you keep yourself open to be able to try out everything the DLC throws your way. So much flexibility playing that way.
The title is a little baity, but honestly the opinions expressed inside are probably the most accurate statement. That said, not every build is equal, and fun can't really be used to measure how strong a build is, which is why people come to youtube to research builds in the first place. That said, I'm really enjoying my Int-based knight. I swap between Death's Poker and Royal Greatsword depending on the type of enemies I'm fighting (RG is great for dealing with low poise high mobility/aggression fights, and DP is great for high poise low mobility/aggression fights), or just a plain old sacred weapon AoW bastard sword for holy-weak fights. I pack a +25 staff of loss and ambush shard or nightmaiden's mist for dealing with distant or difficult geometry situations, and I've basically had no problems anywhere in the game doing anything.
I have a build thats 40 on every stat but i think my weapon choice for my build with Katanas suck im going to try a legendary great sword any suggestions
I have never done a lightning build in ELDEN Ring. I don't know why. It was my favorite build in DS2 but I just haven't here for some reason. Maybe that's my next endevor.
I see video titles like this and start feeling cynical because I've stressed myself to play every starting class to 125 and "play them by the book" to find what actually works for me, rather than making all my builds medium rolling heavy armor vagabonds with some variation of meta equipment. My prophet actually got somebody of the meta persuasion to chainsaw glitch me because of "spell spam" I guess, even though I only had around 23 mind and only 8 endurance and the traveler set you get in front of Malenia's room.
