Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Is TERRIBLE...According To These One-Star Reviews 

One star review is absurd in my book but he is welcome to his opinion. I so love this game but I am willing to admit it has nail biting flaws that i wish they would fix that carried over from vanilla. I won't give it a 10 but pretty close. I thought this video was spot on. I think to solve most peoples problems would be to put a difficulty level selector in the menu and 50% of legit complaints would disappear. I also realize people would complain about that also. So I mod my game and play it my way.

Buddy quick question, if you cleared the new dlc and want start a new NG plus do i need to clear the old base game or can i just kill MOG to go to the shadow realm?

This is probably my favorite dlc by Fromsoftware. I officially finished every world boss and story boss. I collected every upgradable material. The only downside is knowing this is most likely the end of Elden Ring content. Knowing Fromsoftware's dlc content is always WAY harder than the base game I knew going in it doesn't matter the level. You have to treat it like starting over in a way until you find some Scadutree fragments and boost your character a bit. For being in development for a year, I'm impressed with what they made.

I'm not interested in the 1 star reviews whatsoever, it's the best game ever by a long way. Level up before you go up against a boss, and learn the patterns. Most of the bad reviews are from people with average systems trying to play at top specs.

You seem like one of those : no shield, , no ash of war, no spell, no range, no summon , only dodging or else you aren't playing "legit" type of old Souls players. The gaming has evolve, and this is Elden Ring , not Dark Souls 4, so it's natural they can have new approach in their design philosophy. Maybe... just maybe... this time they balance everything around.... let's say... a system that are available to you at the start -> Spirit Ash? Maybe... just maybe... they're balanced around you use some good ash of war or spells? Do you know in Old Dark Souls series you can cheese 99% of the bosses as easily too with the available tools access to you? For example, spells in DS1, DS2 and DS3? Nameless king died in like 5 hits from high INT spells and he can barely retaliate cuz it's range you know?

Read the fight. You have time to summon, and 2-3 hit bosses after move sets. U just cant spam damage. Gaius is fk d up For sure

@@andreichetan4694 That is not the main problem. I enter the dungeon and spam to summon and by the time the summon animation ends some bosses have you dead. Almost every boss has inconsistent starts to fights like final boss about every 3 or 4 attempts he delays his jump attack long enough for me to summon and move. You can watch my streams and see it. I'm not amazing at the game but what I'm experiencing is ridiculous.

The map is absolutely incredible. There's new items everywhere. Amazing set pieces. Beautiful vistas. It's better than the main game imo. The enemies that only die after parrying. Just sneak past them. There's literal messages telling you to. Some of the bosses in the dlc are better than vanilla. Radhan is fucjing stupid. I hated it. Can't see shit. Big white hair so I can't see what he's doing. Flashing lights everywhere. So I'll agree with you on that.

Mesmer its an more than okay boss. You just need yo stay into him and he dies like a wet noodle. Rhadan is rly hard indeed

Skill issue. Radahn yes he’s trash. Messmer no, he’s easy to read and doesn’t have any weird delayed attack patterns.

It is what you make it. If you struggle use a heavy shield. If it's too easy, use a different build.

I think that's the whole point. He really didn't like having someone no hit run the series, so this is his revenge. Punish the average players whilst the 5% forever gamers have a new challenge.

@@mstirlz the problem is that while doing that he ruins the fun of the bosses like melania personally was a fun boss and had a good fun moveset while still being hard and actually rewarded researching while most of the bosses in shadow of the erdtree wasnt fun or rewarding but felt more as if they were designed just to be hard rather than fun

@fanafelgminecraft5789 agree. Malenia was the best fight in base game by far. Very punishing but always had little "cool downs" so you could maybe heal or recharge fp without constant heal punishes like the dlc. I really wouldn't mind the tight windows for attack/healing but the damage output of the dlc bosses is so high that it feels like you have to have a flawless fight with them all

@@mstirlz yeah mesmer was the only fight i enjoyed fully next to that is rellana (no clue if i spelt their name right im like half asleep) i generally enjoy fighting hard bosses but some of the dlc bosses were just not even fun its like they were designed just to be hard and nothing more

The DLC doesn’t track hours played for a lot of people.

Not true. Ds games were fun and allowed you the freedom to play the whole game with the build you liked. This is all about switching meta builds for each boss

@@mstirlz I have played the entire dlc with dual rapiers. played through it a second time with perfume bottles with no ash of war. you can play with any build. not once did i respec.

I feel like old from soft games were way more fair. Never felt input read and that It was up to me to read what the boss was doing and counter it. More arenas that had flavor. (the first 4 bosses ive fought all been square arenas..) Think of gaping dragon or capra demon. GD you can cut his tail off and get an axe, that was so cool. He felt fair in that you had to stick to his sides and avoid his front, watch his charge. Capra had the stairs you could use to get distance on the AI and split them up. Tauras had the whole ladder tower so you could get the big dmg hit on him. He gets his entire estus off and ornstien is just getting ready to attack as he finishes. He dodges smoughs attack and what does smough do? he actually misses and resets, doesnt instantly chain into something else and you feel your camera shake as the enemy character terminator focuses on you. Im glad people having fun and im so pissed im hating it tbh.

Maybe some people don't want to Easter egg hunt and just fight bosses they are the allure of dark souls not exploration

And you just described the whole problem with the dlc. Gone are the days you can have the freedom to play with the build you like, now you're forced to use the same build as everyone else.

@@mstirlz you are more then welcome to use whatever build you want. It just means you will be fighting at a disadvantage. That existed in every souls game. Some bosses were immune to fire. Does that mean you can't use a fire build? No, it just means you are putting yourself at a severe disadvantage. Same with the final boss of the dlc. He has extremely fast attacks that chain. If you don't want to block you don't have to, but it is his weakness. Almost every rpg in existence has weakness and strengths for it's bosses. If you don't like it, then perhaps rpgs where you build characters and stats are not for you

​@averagezengaming8346 that's not my experience. I've played every dark souls game and vase ER using a light load dex build. It always felt possible to achieve a win before. This time round the boss damage output is so high that I effectively have to play a no hit method else I'm dead in one hit. I have many tree blessings so I'm not under levelled, 60 vig too. Wearing the tankiest armour made it much easier but I don't enjoy that build.

@@mstirlz so you never changed your gear or put on elemental resistance rings in ds games? You never used items designed to make the fight more manageable? I have seen people kill every dlc boss with faith builds, sorcerer, pure strength, and yesterday a light claw build. You can do whatever you like, and it is possible. It just isn't the easiest. Just like pure dex was not the easiest against all the bosses in ds1-3. Hex was the meta op build in ds2 because it was easiest to nuke bosses. Does that mean everyone was required too run hex? No, it was just easier for bosses but really didn't help in certain levels. Running the catacombs was far easier using holy damage, did that mean the meta was holy damage and everyone had to run the same thing? No. Each boss has easier strats in the ER DLC, but that by no means limits what one can do. Hell people are one shotting every dlc boss with perfume bottles including the final duo. Being angry the game isn't catering to your specific build speaks more about you as a player and less about the studio and their boss diversity. Btw I'm currently on my pure dex character at level 161 and just took out messmar with little trouble. Any build is possible, some just take more work
