This episode we tackle the Lake of Rot. While typically a pretty obnoxious area by using the beast torch and mushroom set were able to run through with very little concern, knocking this area out with ease.

Did this before added the flame cleanse me and the consumable. Hitting those pads was critical. Overall wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be!

For anyone reading this who might be struggling with the Lake of Rot (or rot in general) here is a list of items that will boost your Immunity: --Cleanrot Spear (+50) --Spiralhorn Shield (+50) [can be worn on back] --Eclipse Crest Greatshield (+50) --Ant's Skull Plate (+60) --Immunizing Horn Charm (+90) --Immunizing Horn Charm +1 (+140) [this is actually found in the Lake of Rot, it is held by the lone Ancestral Follower wading in the Lake] --Mottled Necklace (+40) --Mottled Necklace +1 (+60) --Erdtree's Favor, Erdtree's Favor +1, Erdtree's Favor +2 (all boost HP which boosts Immunity) --Dappled Cured Meat (+100 for 1 minute) --Dappled White Cured Meat (+75 for 2 minutes) --Immunizing Cured Meat (+100 for 1 minute) --Immunizing White Cured Meat (+75 for 2 minutes) --Speckled Hard Tear in the Wondrous Physick (+90 for 3 minutes) --The Mushroom Set, found in Seethewater Cave, contains the Mushroom Head (44), Mushroom Body (102), Mushroom Arms (34), and Mushroom Legs (63). The Mushroom Crown is found in the Lake of Rot and is slightly better than the Head with an Immunity rating of 46. The whole set has an Immunity rating of 243, 245 if you use the Crown. --There is also the Cleanrot Set, found by farming Lesser Cleanrot Knights in Caelid (Inner Aeonia Swamp & War-Dead Catacombs) and a late game area. The complete set has an Immunity rating of 150. (27 for the Helm, 63 for the Armor, 21 for the Gauntlets, and 39 for the Greaves) --The Incantations, Flame Cleanse Me, and Law of Regression will remove the rot status. --Preserving Boluses will remove the rot status. --Soap will remove rot from your armor. --Backstepping will help you move through swamps faster, even more so Quickstep or Bloodhound's Step (which you can apply to a Dagger, Claws, or Fist weapon for a lightweight option) Good luck, brave Tarnished!

I cried laughing at Cowboys mimic. Because when he summoned him up on the other platform I was curious if he was gonna be able to get to the main platform and when the fight first started I was thinking “I bet his mimic is stuck” then he turns around and dude is stuck in the rot USING A TORCH TO FIGHT!! Hahahahah I needed that laugh m, it’s been a depressing couple days so thank you Cownoy lol

My second time in this zone - both times following this guide. Can you imagine trying to figure this place out without help? I'd have just waked away, never knowing. It seems desire for exploration does not extend to what would likely have been numerous deaths and dozens of hours of trying to figure out how to survive this crap. Mimic has been made essentially useless after the changes to its AI. They dumbed it down way more in addition to removing its ability to heal with one flask and reduced the % of the stats it inherits. Kind of a stupid hard pivot to justify using other summons. But it is what it is.

@@Stu1391 Mimic is still the best summon, depending on your build of course. It can heal up to three times if you equip three meat dumplings in your equipment. If you don't use them up yourself the mimic can use them every fight. The reason his mimic had a torch was because cowboy has the torch equipped when he summoned. That it got stuck sucks but can happen to every summon.

@@andreashun Exactly. Cowboy is being silly as usual, he makes mistakes them blames them on nerfs. Sure it was nerfed, but it's still the best summon (depending on build). You just need to use your head a little and not rush and summon it badly... meh. All he needed to do was summon him on the platform with his weapon, not a torch. My mimic could actually beat this field boss alone with my tank build, when I was in this region in my playthrough.

@@ItsJustVV I mean he's playing while recording, commentating, consulting his notes etc. Little mistakes like that can happen, no big deal. It's much easier to notice something like the torch thing while watching only, because your attention isn't divided. I was mostly replying to the dude who said the mimic is "essentially useless" after the nerf, which it isn't.

The vastness of this game truly makes my soul smile. For those who are unable to get to the grace leading to the mushroom armor set, don't worry about it...flame cleans me will work fine as you cross lake of rot, just alternate between using that and healing and you'll make it just fine.

If you're just getting through it the set isn't needed at all. If you're trying to get all the loot in the lake it definitely helps.

You don't even need Flame cleans me. I always just switch all my flasks to HP and then run through and take a drink when I'm at 1/3 of my HP. But of course you can't do that going in for the first time so appreciate him showing the set.

Yo Cowboy would like to thank you for all the content , it’s crazy you put this kinda work in in these games . After the updates to the npcs I decided to do a new build just to go through and see what’s different , in doing so I noticed they added a Deathbird in Limgrave behind the war shack near the giants . And I’m not sure if it’s new and I missed it on my 1st walk through near the castle in weeping peninsula there are angry squids near the water guarding a somber 2 and a rare flower . Not sure if you care to back track but I thought I’d share . Thanks again for all the content🤜🏼

I cannot stress this enough. If you are fighting the boss with a summon, do NOT summon them until you are on the platform you are going to fight him on. Twice my mimic spent the entire fight walking in place outside the platform.

Boy my mimic goes hard. I mean HARD IN DA PAINT HARD SON. He jumped straight in the rot pool and killed the dragonkin guy. I never even had to move. I was waiting for them to come back to the platform but mimic just went straight in on him. It was actually pretty awesome 😂

I was able to just run straight across the lake to the next grace without the armor or anything to get rid of rot around this level. So if anyone just wants to go YOLO mode, go for it.

Hey Cowboy!! When using your mimic ash make sure you unequip torches and spell bells and daggers and anything like that a bare bones mimic with your best weapons and or best spells limit your spells to your highest damage output, its the best way to get the maximum use out of your mimic having too many things equipped confuses the AI and your mimic will stand there doing nothing alot of the time or they will use a spell bell or torch alot more then your core weapons and spells! Your mimic will rock now

lol I believe he knows this. And the mimic was way better pre patch. I haven’t updated yet so I’m still using pre patch mimic snd I literally could just stand there and that little Mf will kill just about anything for me. Using all of my best shit even if I leave everything equipped that your talking. They dumbed down the AI in the patch and made it less potent by a lot. Still a good ash to use but not like it was. I went and fought the rot dragon last night and my mimic snd I got on two different ledges and caught the dragon in a cross fire where the AI of the dragon didn’t know who to go after and started spazzing out snd we just double Comet Azured his ass and took him out in less than 10 seconds. Then got the night rider snd war bird with out ever having to pop a flask down in South Calid. I was pleasantly surprised. Then I couldn’t sleep for another hour cause I was so worked up lol.

⚠️ angry rant⚠️ here’s a look at the off line no internet player experience. This is 100% true any questions or answers would be appreciate Just this small area inside the rot I’ve been following the walk-through so I’m not missing things they’re not there! No mushroom armour or The talisman you’re using for rot. That first Straightahead big horned enemy is not here! So I don’t get that drop! Gravity guy isn’t here either so I don’t get that sword I don’t have any Game affecting torches! I don’t have your shield‼️ Some small things I can’t think of right now! I was able to farm the mushroom head in the Street of Sages ruin! And of course the mushroom crown wasn’t there what most armour pieces you find in the world the wolf head don’t have it I’ve played off-line for all from soft games this is by far the worst for missing gear and incomplete quests! I only have 1/2 of the friggin loot you do! The skeleton head armour at round table didn’t drop! Literally 4 sets of armour important to the story like Ronnie’s and that number will climb as I get deeper into the game! It seems to be all the ones you find in the world as shiny’s like the Carrion set(?) and this affect is the same thing in every category! ashes of war upgrade materials Talismans Collectables The amount of runes you get!EVERYTHING!!! As with every fromsoft game I play off-line so obviously things are expected to not work right I get it and the problem was fixed with the remaster and the scholar of the first sin! But this is probably 10 times worse legitimately!! blood-borne, shadows die twice, dark souls 123 combine I’m not exaggerating! I’ve never heard anybody ever mentioned it!

Good news I was finally able to beat Rennala My weapons are serpent god sword and troll golden sword and my spirit summon was a Kaiden mercenary and my class is Samurai I’m level 56 Stats: Vigor:31 Mind: 14 Endurance: 13 Strength:31 Dexterity: 20 Intelligence:10 Faith: 8 Arcane:8 I equipped some clothing that had magic resistance My advice is simple I’m not a pro but make sure to stagger her or knock her over do not let her get away and close the distance on her quickly and whatever you do don’t let up on your onslaught of attacks if your close range If you kill someone with serpent god you’ll recover hp if you have it equipped but don’t have it out and your ash spirit kills someone then you’ll recover hp from it

Tip for dragonkin solider spawn your mimic on the second larger platform you fight on, the mimic will go in the lake again but he’ll distract the soldier and you can just spam ranged attacks until he’s dead

Absolutely wild to me that this is my 3rd character, I'm 50 hours in and this is the farthest I've ever progressed. I looked up how many bosses we've fought that give remembrances (3) and how many in total (15). Pretty sure I followed DS3 and Sekiro guides from Cowboy and they were both under 50 hours. This game is amazing but man is it stupidly huge.

I killed the first beastman in the lake of rot, but did not get any drops from him? I killed him from a distance (playing a mage) and even went to where his body would have been and there was nothing there? Did I do something wrong?

Late to the party, but been following your guide and it's excellent. I used to be jealous that you got to abuse Hoarfrost Stomp for so long pre-nerf, but recently discovered Halo Scythe, and that thing is disgusting. I thought I'd miss my shield, turns out you don't need it if nothing gets close enough to hit you.

Can you please talk more about Bloodhounds Fang because me and my friends are taking shots every time we hear about Bloodhounds Fang and now I have been waking up in different places that I have no idea how I got there in the game with all my rune gone.

The ant head shield gives an even bigger boost to immunity, if you have the strength for it

@23:03 "popped" my mimic on that platform and he spent half the fight running in the rot without jumping over to the main platform.

Super helpful guide man, I got to the lake and attempted to dash through it and quickly realized that isn't happening. Plus my dung eater got stuck also. Either way thanks for making it easier!

People keep trying to convince me how good the Mimic Tear is, but I'm playing a sorcery build and I'm squishy. I much prefer using the Dung Eater Puppet, it's much more reliable in situations like this.
