This was an excellent first experience in a souls game. I came out and talked with him, and was familiarizing myself with the combat mechanics and accidentally struck him. I then died real fast, as expected. But the game’s only respawn was right next to him and he’d immediately started to attack. So I had to learn how to fight and kill him first thing. Took me like 40 minutes LOL fuck that guy
Lmao... Similar experience here. I spent two hours trying to defeat the first giant by the first gate, when I realized I could just run past him on Torrent. I was so stoked to have finally killed my first "boss" just to realize later that there's a field full of them and they're just regular mobs but giant. Loving my first Souls experience so far

My friend asked if you can attack NPCs and I said you can but you shouldn't. He thought it was gonna be like gta or fallout where you can just kill civilians and they die, but he got a surprise when he went all out at him and killed him multiple times lol.
Like in Dark Souls 1 where certain types of players new to the game decide to attack and kill Crestfallen, only to get rekt and then locked out of Firelink until they manage to kill him
@@luminousxd5269 Yes, you do his quest, get early access to a high level area, an item which gives you unlimited invades, and at the end you kill him and get his weapon.
@@luminousxd5269 no. He moves after stormveil and has an entire questline that rolls into late game. Its best to not kill NPCs in these games at all if you can help it, unless they attack first.
Do not kill this guy. He gives a relatively easy quest line that takes you to an amazing late game secret area. Another way of getting to this secret area is through killing Radhan (idk the specifics) this can be a challenging boss to newer players. The thing that makes the secret area so good is there are a multitude of farming spots for all stages in the game. At the end of the secret area there is even a boss called Mohg, the blood lord (supposedly the third hardest boss in the game) that can be cheesed very easily at any level and gives you approximately 500k runes, this is the equivalent amount of runes the end boss gives you. DON’T MISS IT.
What you get is "oops.. i messed up" not too far into the game when you realize that he is needed for a quest line that allows you get to a really good rune farming spot much earlier than progressing through the story to get to the same location.
@@stefanoskons6309 There's an alternative invasion item you can obtain that functions identically to the bloody finger. You get it for killing a boss at a volcano? I haven't a clue where it is, though, but they do appear to do the same thing. I also do not know if the questline for the alternative finger is failable.
@@theblackoutexplorer2658 you need him to easily reach the “secret end game area” and the major rune farm location. Idk if theres any other way of getting to tht endgame island later, but doing so with his quest is 100x easier. Since, you can unlock the rune farm really early into the game after killing godrick. So the festering fingers u get for killing him rlly AINT worth it.

as soon as i started my 300 hour advenute in elden ring, i saw this guy as i exited the dungeon. the worst mistake I've ever made: attacked this guy because he called my maidenless and because i just felt like it. i had no idea the controls of the game (other than sekiro, this is my first proper souls game), i had all the worst equipment, i didn't even know 99% of the games mechanics, and i spent the next 40 mins trying to kill this guy. every time i died, id spawn right back to the site of grace right in front of him where i'd get absolutely bum fucked again. a great start to what was soon going to be my new favourite game
@@jhautrey7565 yeah lmao i did, it just takes a little bit of practice. try just repeatedly attacking him cuz he gets stun locked pretty easily you'll just have to be ready to dodge any sneaky attacks so dont button spam. If you're having trouble, try sprinting away (if you just run away from him, he shouldn't be able to catch up. eventually you'll get ot of his range) and find another site of grace, the closest one is in this building a little up from where the big guy on the horse (tree sentinel) is walking. rq as well dont sell the things he drops when u do kill him they aren't useful its just you'll have to kill him again in a different playthrough if you ever want to use them again after selling them.
Started as a wretch and decided to fight him right away. Took an hour but I eventually got him. Decided not to try and beat the horse dude before leveling.
Elden ring is my first from software game, my friends and I all decided to choose wretch and beat this guy plus the tree sentinel with level 1 and the club. It took me 11 and a half hours. 10/10 would recommend
@@toxicdiffuser i spent 1 hour and 40 minutes killing tree sentinel in lv 5. Had to change all my flasks to magic and spammed him down with sorceries from the roof top whenever he turned his back on me
i started as the wrentch and this is my first dark souls type game ever. I started the game, left the underground (or what ever it’s called), then he called me maidenless and I began my journey. I proceeded to die over and over until I finally killed him. It took 3 hours but still my most proud moment in this game. Harder then any boss I’ve fought
@@Barry_ibeh Probably because it starts at level 1 with 10 in all stats while others start at higher levels with less stats in certain areas and more, but not as many as you would have if you were at that same level as a Wretch. I did the same thing, and then by level 20 something I had over 20 arcane and 20 endurance, but hardly any damage stats. My highest "damage" stat currently is dex at 13, but I'm using the Reduvia dagger with Arcane scaling so I'm still doing fine xP.

I kept getting my dick put in the dirt until I realized I could just light rush him with my great knife til I critical. Became a stamina game after that.
I'm seeing people saying they struggled when I killed him first time and now I have at least something to feel proud of because everything else in the game is destroying me lol
Lol that's how I feel about lord gwyn from ds1. I stomped that fool like it was nothing, but I barely beat margit and still haven't beaten godrick... and may never try again. The game is ridiculously hard... probably too hard, but the fanbois don't want to hear it. We can't all be correct and time will tell who's right and who's wrong. I admit I could be wrong, but those who disagree probably can't do the same.
@@flamerollerx01 that's surprising to hear, I only beat the gargoyles in dsr and quit once I reached blighttown but I'm on track to beat Elden Ring and most of the extra bosses without upgrading a single piece of equipment
@@flamerollerx01 game def. is not hard whatsoever, get dodging down and it's a cakewalk , mostly at least. If you cannot seem to kill an enemy, maybe just maybe you're not strong enough to do so yet. It's hard to understand, but this is NOT Dark souls. In the most basic way it's just another open world RPG, and when you look at it like that, the game is not hard, you're just rushing shit you should'nt really do yet, and if you still do it, prepare to get clapped. Like shooting yourself and freaking out for being shot
Spoilers relating to his questline: If you go west of his church when he tells you to kill someone’s maiden, the topmost teleporter on the mountain area takes you back to the starter area, where you can kill the grafted scion and take the blood of the already dead maiden instead of killing an npc. As reward, he gives you the normal bloody finger, which means unlimited invasions. 10/10 would blindly stumble on corpses again.
DUDE I LITERALLY DID THIS EARLIER TODAY, went back to the tutorial, explored a little and got those unique items then i went away, for some odd reason i went back cause i thought i missed something and i happened to by chance interact with the dead body and it cleared the quest line I was like what. the. fuck.
My friend did it and it didn’t allow him to access the underground part of caelid. I use the underground caelid for a really OP rune farming spot that he can no longer access from my knowledge. You get a medallion after you complete that guys story line and then you consume that to teleport to underground caelid
Everyone commenting about the Zwei... There is a nomadic merchant that sells one on the weeping peninsula so you can get one 100%. That is how I got mine.
If you are talking about the ZweiHander, I found it on a merchant in the other land, south across the water of the tiny island. He sells it for 3500 runes
I gave him no mercy, the second he called me maidenless. I may have been maiden less but at least I wasn't the one dead with a maiden. Edit: Well, at that time...
For some reason I've had to start my game twice from the start. Dono why it didn't save but both times I went to kill him straight away....I don't think the game intended for him to be my worst enemy but he ended up as my worst enemy.....the joys of playing games drunk
Lmao! Man that fight sucked.. I did this at level 1 right out of the gates where I kept trying to fight him over and over again countless times. To finally win and get nothing in return : ) Truly a dark souls experience and I love it
Have NPCs ever dropped something useful? The only good things I can recall is the gaint blacksmith's hammer which is really good for SL1 runs and the mausoleum key from Ostrava so you can get Soulbrandt early
The talk prompt appears before you're even in backstab range, you can't lock on to him, and the first time you see him he's 10 feet away staring right at you. I think this comment was a pointless lie, genuinely.
@@vanguardofflame9734 Didn't see a talk prompt, went around the hill, hiding in bushes. Was tricked by all the messages saying "strong foe ahead" and a phantom shooting arrows in its direction. Also, didn't need to lock on, didn't even think about it, tbh. Just backstabbed. Really, what point is there to lie about thinking he was an enemy?

It doesn't change anything in the game, if you don't kill him he will eventually disappear from the first step, and will leave a message saying to go to the blood rose church, and will give the item shown in the video

just beat the game yesterday, hes the NPC for a covenent and the Bloody finger his questline is annoying tho and invasions are rare at high soul levels rn

There was this sorcerer chained up to a dungeon wall. She was just screaming in pain and agony when I try to talk to her/it. I killed it. Just wondering if stuff like that really matters or impacts the game.
Thats sorceress sellen (the one that teach you sorcery in waypoint ruins) i made the same mistake and now shes gone lol, i guess ill find some way to "request absolution" further down the road but i cant really get new sorceries now
killing NPCs and not knowing if you screwed yourself over or not is a souls tradition, keep playing for the authentic experience and don't worry about metagaming
