Barbara Gillespie, 72, was working as a delivery driver for Domino's Pizza when she took a spill on a South Carolina porch. When her customers saw what happened, they started a GoFundMe campaign for the great-grandmother.
That is beautiful! This is what it's all about... caring for people :) especially our elders! It is sad that she has to do delivery driving and fall to get help... but I am so truly happy to hear she was able to retire... beautiful outcome! Awesome guy too for asking about her AND ONLY her and not about the food in anyway or what do we do about this?
@@qatarworldcupwinnermessiwhat about the other 72-year-olds “retiring,” then delivering for Dominoes and falling on porches? Well, you can go looking for them then start GFM fundraisers. Duh!
Because we as a nation of brain washed idiots, taught that capitalism is great, senior citizens occupy more space at shelters that any other group, inflation kills their social security
Politicians use this to their advantage. They breed discourse to gain votes. They blame their system of incompetence on the younger generation being lazy. Everyone is getting the shaft, as the politicians grow their personal wealth.
That really shows the state of the world that after she fell she felt the need to apologize because she dropped their food the person who's hurt should be the first priority not the food
@FrozenIce we have fight or flight responsibility. So we have to take into account that she was forced back into the work force. It wasn't a choice. It was forced. So now that we have that take into account. If a person falls that's been forced into the work force what would be the natural reaction? If they were young then you might have a point, but she was already retired.
And yet many from the same generation tell the younger generations that we don’t own homes and multiple vehicles because we’re lazy, not bothering to factor in the insane inflation in comparison with almost zero increase in minimum wages
Take money away from welfare, government housing, food stamps, government cellphones, and that stuff and it could go up. Oh. And quit giving away crack pipes and Narcan.
@@JBra1382 maybe the gov needs to be open where all the money is going since there is so much lies and corruption. There is plenty of money for the poor and elderly. Don’t let the gov fool you on their $50,000 lunches.
And spend on 20 year olds that have baby after baby after baby and have all their needs met with this woman's tax dollars... when these same 20 year olds never work a day in their life.
Heartbreaking that her first reaction was to apologise - probably due to the fact that she was scared of either getting sacked or a complaint being made. We live in a very unsympathetic society in general
With the way people act nowadays I was just really relieved that the homeowner came outside and immediately asked if she was ok instead of screaming at her like a Karen for dropping the food and demanding that the food be replaced for free
When she said “I’m sorry” for falling it really broke my heart, you know that some douche bag out there would yell at her for this type of situation so I’m glad some really kind people lived at that home
She should have made 2 trips to the door and I try to carry it all-in-one with the pasta boxes balanced on top of each other. So she bears responsibility for getting unbalanced, but good thing that she was OK and at the customer was cool with the whole thing and didn't flip out
Who could not love this beautiful lady. Her smile stole my heart!♥️ I bet she was the most loved cafeteria lady of them all. 🥰 I’m so happy this family and supportive community help raise the$250,000. May God continue to bless her, the family and everyone that contributed to her.
Yeah the US has basically zero useful programs for the elderly. Almost everything other than social security requires you to be near homeless and broke before they'll even consider giving you a pittance.
@@7gfh7 but there's so many people to help. Maybe if we created some sort of community organization for the mutual aid of those in need, where people can contribute as they can, and can get support as they need it? Hmm. 🤔
Our elders need to do better. They're the ones who didn't save enough for retirement. My grandparents don't have this issue because they were sensible.
Correct. Should be a normal society where you retire at 65 and benefit from all the work you put in over the years but we lived in a f*****-up Society where they don't give a s*** about nobody and you have to work till the day you die unless you're some RU-vidr Tech Guy you're going to struggle paycheck-to-paycheck for the rest of your life
Selfless? It doesn't show that she's selfless but worried about losing her job because some entitled Gen z kid would freak out their foods on the ground.
True. One of my friends mom still works to this day as a school cafeteria worker, and has a part time job for the weekend. I asked once when she plans to retire and he told me she laughed and said "Whenever the world let's me." which I laughed at back then but now it feels like such a haunting reply.
@ojaslayer Maybe, but she had 2 sons and I doubt her 2 jobs gave her enough money to afford to save up. She probably had to spend all of both paychecks just for her and her 2 boys to get by.
@Patrick McQuitty this was most likely a case of having a husband that was the bread winner and she just worked a job she enjoyed. Husband passed, funds dry up. Life isn't as simple as you're trying to make it sound.
@Patrick McQuitty again, nobody is disputing your breakthrough revelation that "you have to be able to support yourself" the point is life happens and it's pretty clear you have very LIMITED life experience.
It's the Matt Gaetzs, the Marjory Taylor Greens, the Lauren Boeberts, the Jim Jordans, the Ted Cruzs, the Marco Rubios, the Rand Paul's, the Kevin McCarthys, the Mitch McConnells the list goes on of the Republican party that have and continue to block legislation to help the less fortunate in the US. It's disgraceful and these people need to be driven out of office and out of our country.
@@DieselDrinker45.the fact people “will have to get a better paying job” is stressful and tiring considering the amount of adults and young adults that will try to get a better paying job but knowing also theres such limited positions available. @Lunar-dx8pv With each passing decade, indeed with each passing day, our money becomes worth less and LESS.....how exactly do you PLAN to build ANYTHING on quicksand like that?
Gofundme raised about 200K for her, and she is now retired after this video went viral thanks to everyone who seen this video and donated to her ♥️ I can’t remember who started the gofundme but they went and surprised her with it ❤
@@dreadz314its just a little emphasis. As you said it’s the comment section, people emphasize and exaggerate. Has anyone died laughing before? Right. But regardless, my heart goes out to the lady. Anyone who apologizes like that has been through a lot, you can tell. Well the people with empathy and sympathy can tell.
The "I'm sorry" part is heart breaking. She was worried about their food. Sadly, most people now days would throw a fit because their food was ruined and would get mad at her.
I can't imagine being mad at her for that. I'd be bringing her inside and making sure she was alright before going up to dominos to beat up the manager that sent that poor lady out with such a big order by herself. Keep her in the back making salads and stuff, answering phones and taking orders.
@@junebug313 That was my exact thoughts when I saw this too! It's more than obvious she has physical mobility issues, that clearly should have kept her from being sent out on any deliveries.

What world do we live in where she has to apologize for falling on somebody's porch I'm so glad that guy was so nice and kind to her That's sad glad she's okay ❤
She did retire, but clearly didn't have her financials situated even though she worked for a state job. The system everyone is complaining about isn't there to hold your hand to the riches.
@@geesegoose6174There is no system. A system would allow someone to work as a lunch lady and still retire. Most other first world countries have a safety net - an actual system. @@geesegoose6174 You don’t get it. It’s not about living within your means. This country is full of jobs that will provide you with very small social security payments and SSI will only get you up to $900 or so a month. But rent in many places is still higher than $900. Look at the rapidly increasing number of elderly homeless people across the country. This is going to become a much bigger problem with time because we have no social safety net and lots of jobs that pay school lunch lady wages.
Fellow Domino's delivery driver here, God bless this woman. This can be a hard job even for younger folks. I am glad to hear about her GoFundMe and that she has received such a great outpouring of support.
I'm young and this job was beyond hard. I worked 12 hour shifts without breaks and risking my life with reckless drivers on the road at 2 am and risking getting robbed in bad places. This job was extremely stressful most of the time. Either your stressed about not making enough money to fix your car or your stretched thin working long late hours risking everything.

If that woman appeared on my front porch with my dominoes pizza on the ground, I wouldn’t care about the money I would only care that if the women was ok ❤️

See how far we've fallen. A woman her age shouldn't have to work anymore. I worked with a 70 year old man who had to work so he could pay his bills. He could barely walk. And guess what.... We were delivering pizza.
