I think it's great that y'all give back personal items that you could throw away. It's bad enough that people go through hard times, but it always makes me smile when i hear the buyers say, "We'll give these back to the owner." It shows respect for the persons loss. Thank you for all you do! Good luck in all of your endeavors! ❤

It really is awesome! I do it to! I could not live with myself knowing that I took someone’s personal belongings and didn’t try to give them back. So many facilities have told me that most people who win these auctions do not return the items and 4 out of the 5 facilities that I just bought from said they don’t even want you to leave their personal belongings behind with them, because they have been trying for months to get in contact with the owners. I still return them because I do not want that to fall back on me but it is just sad especially when someone’s whole life is in a unit.

This has made up my mind for me. My husband died three years ago. We we married 58+ years and he spent 12+ years in the Navy. Everywhere he went he bought souvenirs and I have almost everything. I was a serious sewer and crafter to so I have a storage unit that I’m paying $155 months and had another that was $65. Gradually we emptied the smaller one. Sold some things but not enough to make a big dent. We, my daughter and I had an all day yard sale and made $200. I’d rather donate it that for people to talk me down to $1 or$2 on my nice things. I will start loading up my van tomorrow.

I'm in an apt.so I have to sell things at a local flea market. People annoy me when they want something for $.50 - $1.00. I feel the same way about donating and not dealing with cheap people. I used to tell them for what they offered me, I may as well take it home.
@debk9889
@debk9889 2 месяца назад
Its got to be hard to get rid of the life long collections, but I agree that donating it will give someone more appreciation than the hours you spent rummage selling for $200. I ran 2 rummage sales in my life, and no more. Not worth the loss of the days. Never forget, keep the memories, not all the things. Gotta keep a few momentos though. 😊

In the future, take it to a local auction and have them sell it for you. Some auction companies will come to your location and give a cash offer then haul it off for you and sell it for themselves. Yard sales will never give you market price for anything and should be the last effort to sell before going to the dump or donation. If you can take a tax write off then donation would be the best way to go.

There are a great many crafters I've seen on RU-vid who create some OUTSTANDING pieces of art from broken glass. The same with old costume jewelry. Our next door neighbor when I was a kid gave me a bunch of old Christmas cards, an aluminum tree, and lots of decorations and lights. He had seen we hadn't put up a Christmas tree. My dad was dug Graves and it was winter tome and he had very little work. We had to use tape to fix the branches. My mom was so mad at me , for a long time. I just watched a video where a crafter used the corrugated cardboard in her crafts to make cool texture on her cardboard made boxes. (She took them apart and then reattached the sides and bottoms with tape.) She cut the corrugated cardboard in small squares and turned every other one to make a basket weave look. Then she painted them. They were awesome! This lady was a true craftswoman. I keep my broken plates and glassware too. Hopefully, I'll do some mosaics this summer.

Great show! Commenting on hot shot tiny bottles. Back in the early 60’s I worked in a restaurant in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada. An order for a coffee came with that tiny little bottle of cream On the side for your coffee. Each bottle had a flat round cardboard lid set into the top of the bottle. Maybe about 20 ml. Today the term hot shot is mostly connected with liqueur, bars and drinks. I was about 12 yrs old , worked after school alongside my mom. I’m 71.

Hey guys I just started watching y’all, I retired from medical where I took care of dementia patients. The last lady I took care of I actually moved in with the last 7 years of her life bc her family couldn’t & they paid me well. They asked me in that time to go through her home and clean out closets, drawers etc.. she collected plastic bags, cardboard, boxes, cards, letters, empty containers, empty bottles, bottle caps, plastic lids, etc. etc. etc. it was part of her disease. So that may be part of what you’re finding in her storage unit.they are sort of hoarders in a way! her family could not believe what I found & she was not a crafter. She’s gone now, 98 years old, such a delightful lady! She also had beautiful things as well. I am a crafter and I do have a Mary Englebred print in my craft room lol Love your videos keep it up!!

Wow you found a Thomasville furniture piece! What a find. That is some sturdy good furniture. I hate I gave away my moms dining room set from Thomasville. I was young! Great video thank you!

That Indies platter I saw for $199, Nice! The Royal Dalton Bunnykins i saw anywhere from $45 to $85 average. The aluminum xmas tree varied from $150-$800! Original packaging always increases value, awesome collections! All the China is valuable. Love the silver/metal platters too. The beautiful curio cabinet, 1970's Thomasville, exact cabinet for sale at $1200. Still a great piece. Didn't look like much at the beginning, but turned out great!

I just subscribed because you are giving the lady the sewing machine that has been in her family for generations. You won my heart and I wont to see more of your videos. (This is just my second one and I have only seen 5 minutes of it.)

Those little white and blue bottles you thought were perfume are actually snuff bottles and can bring a good price. And the pastel Hull pottery vases can be quite collectible. The crystal is cut crystal and can be sharp, pressed glass is not sharp. Cut crystal is worth more because all the detailing is cut by hand. And the biggest score is that aluminum Christmas tree in the box. You could buy a color wheel and place under the tree for different colors. Great score.
