@@e-bikeskibum7141 thats because the mountain biker has more gears to work on, in road bikes the chain rings are bigger than mtb, its always gonna be harder in a roadie but thats why you can get high speeds tho
Damn I don’t think people realize how tough this is. I’m just like one of the guys in this video that was zigzaging his way to the top. Going straight on like that takes real power
I don''t think you realize how easy this is for a rider with a certain level of skill and experience. The grade is 25-30% max, a XC MTB rider will climb 35 to 40% grades easily. On road you won't see these grades...
@@Chip8000 Except, in MTB you climb steeper terrain plus you often apply much more torque than you'd ever apply on road to get over features. I ride & race both MTB and road, advise you to try out some cross-country racing before judging.
@@alicangul2603 I think it depends on the person then cus I have climbed in mtb and road in some hills with 30% gradient and because of the gearing mtb has it makes it waay easier than in a roadbike. At lrast for me in roadbikes you need to have more power in your legs
@@LD-bv1pm shorter gears but heavy wheel, +3/4 kg of total weight and the lost of watt due to suspension movement while push on pedals.......... (i ride both bike).
Ouaaaah !!!!!
I used to live in Highland Park in the 90's, i went to Aldama Elementary and used to ride my GT Interceptor (BMX) bike and i don't know how i made it with that bike
The bringer of rain has come. 12/29/21 Plenty of snow and rain for us to wonder how did it get there? Why do the airplanes leave trails behind them? Then create clouds an hour later? 😲😲
Wouldn’t it be easier to just run a 10-46 cassette? I’m running a mtb cassette on my road bike, single chain ring, and never looking back to the smaller gear ratios of road bikes Lol. The mtb cassette on my road bike makes the hardest climbs in my area, the one that makes us cry, a walk in the park. Sure, I’m not the fastest, but I go up without even worrying that I can’t. Because it’s so easy slowly make your way up
Indeed proper gearing is important as well as having fitness to begin with for this type of scenario. From my experience riding steep hills at around 4-5kph and less than 40 cadence is where you will likely start losing your balance. A 70kg rider going 5kph on 33% gradient would be doing at least 375 watts. For every other 1kph add 75watts. Gearing wise 5kph with 34x34 relates to 40rpm only. Most of the riders with the exception of first few guys seem to have lower gearing, likely 34x28 or even 25 on the back and it's the biggest reason why they are not able to reach the top.
20% is the steepest road climb I've ever done... I've been on stuff so steep on my mtb bike that I was in jeopardy of falling over backwards though.... (have had a couple of friends actually flip over backwards, it's super funny...)
@@aleksarajkovic3471 ahh, the old days when people still rode flats. My favorite trick, when they switched over, was to get in front on a hill and ride real slow...

That's it? That's the whole climb? I suggest you go try "Alto del Pionomo" it's like 5 kilometers long, with an average grade of 12% with a 1km stretch of over 30% This street, would the warm up.
Who tf builds roads like this?. "So yeah we got this major incline so let's do it properly an... " Pave it over, straight line! "But sir .. " *WAT* ! "Nothing sir.. ;_; "
thats the gopro effect also its a long climb and this probably looks like a wall while hard climbs on mtb trails aren't usually this steep. you really have to be there to see how steep it really is
