Definitely one of the most beautiful women in the history of Hollywood. And one of the sexiest and most classy. And, last but not least, a very great actress. So sad she is gone.
Happy Birthday, Eleanor! You are one of the most talented, beautiful and captivating actresses ever.... of ANY era. I am so thankful that many more of your movies are being released onto DVD. The world cannot be too blessed with your face, your voice and extraordinary ability.
She might have had a chance were it not for his kids! Eleanor Parker definitely was all beauty and class in The Sound of Music. There is a scene in the movie Beautiful Thing were someone asks who played the Baroness in The Sound of Music. Since then I always remember Eleanor Parker's name.
Eleanor was well cast as the Baroness and her elegance and beauty was definitely outstanding and unique, but I think she didnt have the irreplaceable warmth and passion of Julie Andrews. ❤️❤️
"Eleanor Parker was and is one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever known," said Plummer in a statement. “Both as a person and as a beauty. I hardly believe the sad news for I was sure she was enchanted and would live forever.”
A lovely, lovely tribute to beautiful, classy Eleanor Parker. The choice of images is quite good, and some of the scenes remain forever with you. EP had a way of moving, a very intuitive way of positioning her head, turning, using her eyes, mouth, she was an excellent actress in every way. I first saw her in THE SOUND OF MUSIC (loved her Baroness!) and went backwards in time to discover her great roles. EP will be remembered, always, as a very special, unique movie star.
According to TCM's Robert Osborne, there is a legitimate reason why she never really became a big name like Bette Davis or Cary Grant, because she never played the same type of role twice, so audiences had no idea what to expect from film to film, as opposed to someone like Joan Crawford or Errol Flynn, with them you always knew what you were going to get.
She's so wonderful! It makes me really sad that she is never acknowledged or referenced to when they speak about the Sound of Music? She played such an amazing part! Definitely did not get enough recognition for her talents. Amazing woman! Just wish I discovered her earlier..
+Marnie Scott I totally agree! She is so brilliant in the Sound of Music. That was the first thing I saw her in then I discovered all her other wonderful movies. Thanks for the comment!
this is a lovely tribute to one of my all time favorite actresses and one of the most astonishing beauties to ever step before a movie camera, thank you! and i agree with some of the other comments that she is underrated and underappreciated today but her fans will keep spreading the word and she will get more recognition as time goes on, that's a fact!
What a lovely tribute! I remember the first time I saw Eleanor in the movie "The Sound of Music" at first I didn't quite notice her with me being 6 or 8 years old at the time but fast forward 8 years later I was in a hotel with my mom for the summer and I remember being so excited about the cable they had which had the TCM channel (I'm a huge old movies fanatic) and I had the wonderful opportunity of watching that movie of hers "The Voice Of The Turtle" & I have been a fan ever since :)
I am engaged to her son Paul Clemens. She was a beautiful and an amazing person. I was honored to meet her 2 years before she died. I cherish those two years that i got to spend with her. I do miss her
Congrats on your engagement and thank you for the comment! I am honored that you shared with us and so happy you got to spend time with her. Very, very cool!
That movie is called "Soliders in White." It is acutally a ten minute short documentary type film about world war two. It is on the special features of a movie called "They Died with Their Boots On" with Errol Flynn. "Soliders" is the first apperence of Eleanor ever...
Hi geebersjen, Thank you for putting this video of Eleanor. It's my favorite video of hers. It's one of tragedies of American film that Eleanor Parker has never been given her due by her peers in Hollywood. I hope one day they will give her the Oscar. About the Sound of Music, she was invited to go to the 40th anniversary tribute but she did not want to go. I have a feeling her and the cast are not friends, but I think this is mostly on Eleanor's part since she's a very private woman
I love her sense of privacy. For that she was not too visible to be second rate, better that way, she was mysterious, unexplored, aloof, always a beckon when she appeared on rare occasions.
Muy buena actriz Eleanor Paeker.Linda musica para este tributo a la actriz que protagonizo Scaramouche con el actor Stewart Granger, que es mi actor preferido
R.I.P. Eleanor Parker. Loved you in "Caged" and "Detective Story". Not so much (not your fault) in "Man With The Golden Arm," because of what the screenwriters and Otto Preminger chose to do with your character, Stosh, which was way out of line with what Nelson Algren originally wrote.
