I just got this bike today. My first bike. I learned to ride it on my way home lol. I personally love it. By the time I got home from the shop, I got the hang of it. I got it in matte purple.
Thanks for sharing this video!! I was torn between the Specialized "Corridor" and this bike. I am 68, 5'4" , fit and trim but deal with moderate to severe knee osteoarthritis. I still love to ride leisurely and the forward pedaling has enabled me to continue to ride. This is the perfect bike for me and anyone confronted with joint limitations and disabilities. I ride it around town at home and during my vacationing in Naples. I enjoy riding it near and around the beach! It's also perfect for sight seeing. Thanks again for sharing this info! 😉👍😀
I’m 63 and love to bike ride with my hubby. I had a cruiser with no speeds and it was hard to keep up, we just bought this bike the other day and I can’t wait to ride it. It’s really the exercise I like the most.
Good review! I have the Townie Path 9D which is a crossover for street and gravel path. People always comment on how low the seat is - but that's the way it is supposed to look. Remember, the object is to be able to put both feet flat on the ground when you stop. If you are standing on the balls of your feet, then you have the seat too high - for the Townies. That' what flat foot tech is all about.
Hi, Thank you so much for sharing. I had a bad fall off my bike and I was looking for a safer bike. This looks nice however, I am afraid because you need to pedal forward and that will cause pressure on your back. I am thinking about having a saddle with back support to eliminate the issue. Do you have any suggestions regarding my concern? I have a back pain.
I just bought a used Electra 7 and I love it. I would like to get some new parts for it but I don’t know what kind to get. I want a new derailleur, brakes and I guess you would call it a cassette. They work but are a bit rusty. All I know is that it has a Tourney Derailleur but don’t know what model. I did find a new Revoshift SL-RS35 shifter. Any help with part numbers or where to find replacements or if I can upgrade the old parts would be greatly appreciated.
Great information. I'm looking for something for my wife that's comfortable for her to ride, but we also have a one year old to take out with us. Is this compatible with a baby bike seat?
yea i have one for my wifes bike its the topeak baby seat and just get the longer extenders fo rthe rack ask the shop and they will know what u are talking about
Great video and information. These seem hard to find new and are out of stock. What should I look for since I have a chance to purchase a gently used bike?
very hard to find but nice bikes we have some in stock at the store....... just look for ware and tare on compoinents the frames will always last long even with scratches and they hold up
they are honestly both nice bikes, plus size is the roll has the disc brakes and more gears, townie on the other hand is a one size fit all bike with flat foot technology that allows you to have both feet on the ground when u come to a stop, I have the roll 1.0 for my self and for my wife she has the townie because it is either ocming to stops at busy traffic stops
yes the usually are for them but honestrly this is the universal style in europe, it def makes it easier to get on and off and I sell step thru bikes to men all the time because they want an easier way to get on and off the bike, but also I sell mens bike to woman because they like the look of them better
I rescued a townie 7D from the scrappers, it had no tires and the rear derailleur is trashed. Do you know where you got the $80 dollars in parts for a chain, derailleur, and crank? A local soFla store? Also, what rims replacements would you recommend since no one sells them, not even Trek's website.
you would prob just have toi take them to a local shop and tell them that but I mean rims right now are like 80 dollars per rim and then tires tubes an dchain and cassette
Hi - thanks for sharing this video! What color is the bike in your review? Also, can you please provide the model number. I can't seem to find this bike with a white seat, only black. Thanks again!
i got one of these in August and have had a blast riding it. One thing is that no matter how fast I pump my legs it will only go but so fast. Why is that?
could jsut be the resistance of the bike and the position of your body while riding, so the flat foot technology is great for cruising and being able to put both feet down but its not the best form for riding at quick speeds
Whats the best speed to use on the Townie Electra 7 speed ? I usually do#5 but i wonder about what the recommended speed is for cruising about town. Thanks/ PS I really love my townie btw
it all dpeneds, there really is no right or wrong its all what is comfortable for you.... btu I mean 4-5 is a good gear but thats what gears are there for, if it gets too tough change it easier and if it gets to easy make it harder
I have the Brooklyn bright 7 speed. It’s beautiful but too big for me. I ordered online and have only been on it 2x with maybe 15 min riding bc I am short and all the way down I can barely touch with tippy toes. I have a short inseam and haven’t been on a bike in over 25 yrs. I’m going to try to sell it. I’m sad but I need to be able to touch the ground.
Is this bike easy to ride? I guess I mean tension wise. I bought a cruiser from Walmart and feel it can be pretty hard to pedal. Would like something nice to ride in the park.
This is what I have been looking for. I am a 4'11, 54 years old, , 254 pound female who is afraid of falling because of my height and age. Will this bike work for a 4'11 "woman? I so desperately want to start getting in shape again. Thank you for posting this video. 😊❤❤❤❤
@@elsiehdz7 Yes I did get one at Trek, and I love it. I can actually ride without fear of falling when I stop the bike. My feet fully touch the ground, and I am a much more confident cyclist. 😊❤️
My wife is 5’3 and that’s her bike exactly as is. She won’t have an issue at all and if you like you can even loosen the stem bolts and rotate the handlebars back a little. But I don’t think it’s necessary
So I picked one up today. With the seat all the way down, my wife who is 5’ can be on the seat and have her feet flat on the ground. She loves the Bike!!
@@cyprianskiba8768 would you be willing to share if your wife has short inseam or longer legs? I am so short with short legs but nearest place with the 24” is over 2 hrs away. 2 yrs ago I bought a Brooklyn Brighton cruiser online and I can barely touch with my tippy toes.
@@Dana-kp5ut I'm 5' 2" and my toes barely touch. I should've gotten a 24" but they didn't have any at REI which are currently on sale. I ride with my dogs so I need the bike upright when getting on/off so they don't get scared and try to jump off.
I tried this bike out and got a sore tailbone. I decided not to buy it. Also could not handle the handlebars when stopping and almost went off the path, scary.
not bad at all, ive had tons of older people buy and live in community's who would live on upper floors and have no problem getting them into there houses. :))
The above ad is false!! I'm 5'2" and have to be on tippy toes in order to reach the ground. I had a Townie 4 years ago and was able to sit with flat foot, but NOT with this bike, and I see others mentioning the same problem. Please DO NOT indicate that purchasing this even for children . . . NOT TRUE!!
