This is the First Flight of the Synchronus Goat, the result of a LOT of work over the span of 10 years, much of the work was making/designing the Synchronus electric propulsion system.
The flight went well, the altitude gain was 384 ft, the maximum climb rate was 510 ft/min at full Power. The aircraft can maintain level flight with about 5 to 6kw of power at speed of 40km/h.
The flight was done on Dezmir (Traian Darjan) Airfield, there ware present many flight instructors and pilots, including my flight instructor, an inspector from Romanian Airclub Authority and the second Commander of the Airfield.

Camera footage shows extremely stable flight. I imagine it's a very calm day weatherwise

Excellent aircraft and performance. This really shows the capability of using electricity as a source of power. Endurance is now the requirement.

Beautiful! Been looking forward to seeing this, I really like the cable braced Goat... Part way through building my own but with a 160cm pusher prop running around the tail boom. Well done man, you got it done and in the air :)

Awesome flight! Can you share the details of the electric setup, please? If 5 or 6 kW is enough for level flight then what was the power used during take-off? Prop diameter and pitch? If so, multiple thanks! Also building an electric Goat (possibly with twin Turnigy setup) here in flat Finland

@@synchronus9836 hi there, I would love to get your specs sheet as I work on putting back in the air a bunch of old Weedhoppers. I m seriously thinking of converting one of them to electric power. With a weight of 55kg (without engine) I think it s doable. How do you feel about this idea ?
@synchronus9836
@synchronus9836 Год назад
@@SojoGliderFan the propulsion system has 43kg, 20Kw motor, 4,884Kwh lipo battery, plus controller display and other accesories. At 20Kw with a 3 blade 1,3m prop (Helix) motor pulls about 90kg. The Goat needs about 6 to 7kw to maintain level flight at 40-43km/h with a wing of 18sqm (12m span) and a takeoff weight of 240kgs. A Weedhopper, night need more that that (power and speed) because it has smaller wing area.
@SojoGliderFan
@SojoGliderFan Год назад
@@synchronus9836 thank you for the information. Actually, it might work out as my wing is 16m2 but my total take off weight in that configuration would only be 203 kg. With my other Weedhopper, an all original US model from 1979, it would be even better as the total weight would then be only 137 kg. Now with the batteries you have, how much time can you spend up in the air ?

What is the power draw to keep propeller spinning, and not act like airbrake, when gliding ?
@synchronus9836
@synchronus9836 Год назад
Somewhere around 0.3Kw...ish current reading for power under 1kw is not very acurate.

Very nice …. Do you have a BRS or reserve chute ?
@synchronus9836

BRS is way to heavy, A hand deployed hang glider style chute is the right choice for my application, in the future.

@synchronus9836
@synchronus9836 Год назад
hy, well... i have not flown much, mainly because i had to fix some problems witch are not necesarly related to the electric propulsion, like radio interference and transponder installation. Since my plane is registered and i fly in class C airspace (1,6 km from the international airport LRCL), i have to have radio comms, transponder mode C minimum, ELT or PLB, and insurance, just like any GA aircraft (like a cessna). So yes.... a lot of trouble before being able to fly.
