I've read a couple explainations about this. One, just straight up deathcore killing off german schlager (a highly commercial boomer pop genre in Germany). The other one is that it's a satirical kick in the balls to the whole "They're too heavy for Eurovision Song Contest" shit. Germany sendt some generic, boring pop in stead. Anyways; they nailed it either way.
As a German, both makes sense. This song is a big take on German Schlager, especially Michael Wendler who went veeeery controversial because of his opinion about COVID, and at the same time it is a veeeery big F you towards the German Eurovision Jury, well, at least if you ask me.
Apparently they've been thinking about making a schlager song as a joke for a while now, so my guess would be something along the lines of the first theory
This was definitely a jab at eurovision for saying they were too heavy for the competition, there's no way this wasn't them just doubling down by going heavier than they ever have before.
the single best thing about these guys is that no matter how cheesey... lame or ridiculous their music can be.. you know it's all a joke so you let your guard down... well played boys, well played.

Without spoilers for everyone the best part of this one is it doesn't overstay it's welcome with the joke. Not previous songs from them really did, but I agree that spaceman felt weak, and I enjoyed fuqqboi for being different, but it didn't wow me in and of itself.
When I first heard this song/watched the video, I am almost 100% certain my face looked like yours when the death started. I like them; they are poppy at time, yes. MetallyCorey at times, yes. Keeps us guessing? Yes. And I am also 100% invested in getting the new album when it drops.

It is so amusing to see people bopping along to German Schlager A genre I practice very hard to have a different time signature in my head to disrupt it. I live in Germany and it is a ubiquitous genre of music. Death was too good for German Schlager. BTW the lyrics in German though sung in the style of Schlager are fairly disgusting - which makes that bit so funny to me.
