In a genre that is over-saturated in bands that take themselves way too seriously, it's amazing to see a band having an absolute blast (Pun intended). It's not against metal core laws to enjoy yourselves.
Metal needs more guys who just live to have a laugh. It's why I love these guys, Psychostick, Alestorm, even guys like Infant Annihilator because they're so clearly a parody of deathcore and death metal's over-seriousness.
As you mentioned outfits, I always find that Kevin (and the rest of the band) look like they're dressed up for the funny. They look out of place whatever they wear. Nico however... there's something about him that completely sells it. Pump It is a perfect example of this. It looks like he was born to perform in that fit.
@@metalswifty23 I think that Electric Callboy was already a god band, i saw them in Resurrection Fest 2016, they were in the warm up and nobody know shit anything about them. They destroy the fucking gig, kevin twisted is ankle in the first 5 min and still killed it. If u hear all the albums they grow so much in the sound, and The Scene + Rehab its nearly this sound that i love so much. Its amazing see how they grow so much (VIP or even Nice boi its the best example of what i said)
You're totally right. He's like an actor that sells every part his in. Everytime We Touch... We Got The Moves... Tekkno Train... It's like different person every time, and the person looks like one born to play that part.
As someone who has a soft spot for hardcore and especially Finch, this is exactly what I needed; WBTBWB did a song with Scooter and now EC with Finch, I love it. Need Tommy Cash, Little big and Oliver tree to collab with EC or WBTBWB now
Läuft has scooter on the intro guys, or at the very least the “hardcore” part is a sample of a scooter song, German articles were hyping up the album before release and this was one of the selling points, that scooter was on the Läuft, curiously he’s not credited or a featured artist though 🤔 I’m sure it is him though
Kinda. Most bands who have done it previously were pretty cringe, and the music wasn't really that good. I still listened to some tracks here and there, but just for the fun of it rather than them actually being good. Enter Shikari and Electric Callboy, however, are honestly the only 2 bands (from all the bands I've heard) that actually make the music work well, and maybe Crossfaith as well (so 3), who were incredible live when I saw them 10 years ago (though some of their stuff misses the mark).
The name change transition has honestly felt so smooth. It's like they were always called Electric Callboy. And this is exactly what I expect from the boys!
@@Regent192 Not gonna lie, their early work was cringe. Everything before The Scene was. But offensive? I'm not sure. If they did it because they want to distance themselves from the early work, then I get it. Personally, I would see it as a part of my past that made me who I am. I'm not changing my name because I said and did stupid things as a kid. But I get it. But if they did it to avoid being "cancelled" then I can't respect that. It all depends on what the intention was.
@@AutomaticDuck300 Their earlier songs were definitely offensive to most people. Obviously that was the intention, but they changed their name due to them entering into the Eurovision, they wanted a fresh start and clean slate for their band. They changed their name partly due to backlash of past lyrics and that “Eskimo Callboy” is offensive to some people, but it was also due to them wanting a fresh start.
At this point the name change is quite fitting. Their pre MC thunder Stuff is Eskimo Callboy and everything after that Is electric. I love it even tho they have less and less to do with what they used to be.
@@supremelordoftheuniverse5449 “Eskimo” is literally a slur. It’s a derogatory term for Inuit natives that means snow eater. It’s not woke, it’s sense.
@@therileyobrien look, the literal meaning isn’t that relevant. The main point is it’s a derogatory terms. Whether you think it’s woke or not, whatever. How is removing a slur from your name woke? It’s no different from if they changed from “n word callboy”
If you go watch the Tank the Tech reaction he subtitled the German parts. makes the song so much better. Nik been loving your stuff lately and you have joined my reaction rotation. Side note I used to live in T.O. as well, but I've since moved back north. Small world EH?
Btw just for your information: the blblblblblbl part at 1:36 is a reference to the 1981 Movie "La Soupe aux choux" where an alien arrives on earth and the protagonist feeds him cabbage soup (which he totally loves) Kohlkopf = cabbage head "Jetzt sind die Kohlköpfe da" = "Now the cabbage heads are here" another reference to the movie as the movie was named "Louis und seine außerirdischen Kohlköpfe" (Louis and his alien cabbage heads")
Hey Nic, did you hear of "Welcome to Raveland" by EC? It's a song they've produced for a German show and there is an unofficial version of it on RU-vid, a reaction to it would be awesome!
In the "behind the scenes" video there is a bit where, I think, Pascal is asked to introduce himself and he says: "What do they say when they are the first man on Mars? Or on the Moon? Hi, I am the first person on a mound in Bottrop." Bottrop being a nearby Ruhr town - with some big old spoil heaps. I laughed my ass off as I grew up watching Dr Who and they did so many things in quarries and on spoil heaps etc.
Since you mentioned who made the video, all of their Videos are produced by Paskal Schillo (guitarist of EC) and his brother Oliver Schillo. They have a Video Production Company known as "Schillo Brothers" and thats the Deal. The Band and Oliver workinbg out a concept and then Paskal and Oliver producing the Videos in the end. Its nearly crazy how much work these guys are doing on their own, not only Musical-vise. Hope i could help get some more knowledge and all the best from Germany :)
Got to know the Callboys just about a month ago and fell in love with their music and their comedy. And an extra treat are the reactions on RU-vid, so a new song means an extra treat for me, seeing you and others enjoy it as well 💙 The video was directed by the Schillo brothers btw, the same guys behind their other videos of the past couple years. And I agree, they really went above and beyond with the production value this time!
These guys never miss, different name same THWOMP. Hey Nik, can you react to Bury tomorrow - DEATH (ever colder), they got a new clean vocalist and they’ve really stepped up their sound, they’re also a local band who’ve always been friendly to me 🤘🏼
liked their previous stuff already, but this one has to be my fav so far, the chorus is just another lvl of catchyness, even for their standards... gotta love them
I guess I've set my standards too high and found this one missing the punch the other 3 have. But hey those 3 were the 3 most epic songs I've heard in the past years, songs that almost changed my life, it's impossible for them to sustain that quality ! The German rapping this the most hilarious part of it though.
i'm enjoying it more with each listen, especially Finch's bit, I think it's the best part of the song even though I didn't understand a word lol. But I agree, it's not as good as Hypa Hypa, Pump It and we got the moves and MC thunder. But you can't just keep making better and better songs, and it was still a great time :D
Because good record labels understand the benefit of reaction exposure. Quality channels like Nik or Tank get access to the video before it is released to the public, for this exact purpose.
I love that they had a twi lek from Star Wars. Also If you haven’t heard of them before, you should look up nekrogoblikon. They make goblin metal and so underrated.
NIK, I HIGHLY recommend doing a reaction to Glasslands' new song called "Beggar." It's a great metalcore song, and it's a facemelting opener for their newest album that came out on Friday
I was waitin for your reaction. ❤ And as always its great. 😎 And they did it again...they made another great song where you cant sit!!! You have to move!!! Thanks for your reaction!!!👊
Nik you should react to the new upon a burning body track "a new responsibility" (if you even do see this which is unlikely). Would love to hear your take on it!
