Good job. I have to store mine wrapped in a tarp on the front porch. If you have a garage it makes perfect sense.

Love the video, I was looking for videos like this to build my own lift for my kayaks. I am going with rope, but in researching cabling, I found something about never saddling a dead horse. You may want to check your cable saddles for proper assembly. It looks like some of them may need corrected. Not sure how much it matters, but though i would relay the information. Your brother inspired me to do things like use the correct eyebolts rather than buying ones from Home Depot that are not meant for the application.

just came across this Nice setup other videos I saw had ceiling pulley for each cable, have you had any binding issues with two cables going through the same pulley? also do you have a recommendation on how to shorten the pull distance and keep the same drop distance? would 2 double pulley work to help reduce pulling distance needed
@wendellfishing
@wendellfishing Год назад
No binding issues at all. The pull and drop distance was negligible in the context of the garage.
@tennesseekayakfishing5691
@tennesseekayakfishing5691 Год назад
That is a pretty ingenious setup. Does someone have hoist rigging experience? Did you make a stop mark so you know where to safely stop so as not to run the kayak into the ceiling?
@wendellfishing
@wendellfishing Год назад
Ha! I found the idea on a forum board. Seemed simple enough. Winch from Harbor Freight, Transitional pulleys, and board. My brother is also an engineer so that helped a bunch along the way. All of the materials I had laying around the house or my brother had minus the winch. I didn't make a safety stop marker only because I put stuff on and off the kayak all of the time and I don't want to not be paying attention and ram my seat, or pedal drive through the ceiling. I have a pretty good line of sight to the tops of both kayaks though.

Smart idea! Just trying to share one little note about your batteries? Are they off the concrete? I have heard from many that it will drain your batteries and can ruin them? But awesome idea for sure😅😮😮😮

Any danger of the winch slowly lowering if you were to lose power since there’s no brake?
@wendellfishing
@wendellfishing 8 месяцев назад
No issues and I have 3 kayaks and myself on it.. but It may depend on the winch you get.
