I think he's the most prolific composer that the UK has produced, he's written even for the Beatles, the documentary on him is a must as he writes for all the instruments and he records them as well 😁
2nd comment! ELO yesss! Love this song! They have so many great songs... my favorite being Strange Magic! They’re definitely on my top 10 list! So creative!
I really enjoy “All over the world.” It’s the ultimate Flash Mob song... you just cannot sit still. And then there is their collaboration with Olivia Newton-John - timeless....
Grab ya popcorn Jayvee and hit your ears with "Hold on Tight", "Livin' Thing", "Turn To Stone", "Rockaria", "Wild West Hero", "Last Train to London" and still there's more joy in store for you, ya lucky thing.
ELO is in a class of their own! And Sweet Talkin Woman is a total jam! P.s. I come here mostly for the music but you’re certainly not hard to look at ☺️
Fun fact: the very famous British actor/movie writer Simon Pegg is obsessed with ELO and uses their songs in every single one of his films over and over, for many years. We all love ELO!
jeff lynne has produced some of the best all time records ever for multiple singers and bands and has a excellent voice himself and was a part of the travelling wilbreys aswell
Ok Jay,here is your ELO homework (fyi: do the studio versions) Turn to Stone Sweet is the Night Diary of Horace Wimp Cant Get it out of my Head Showdown Shine a Little Love Livin Thing Wont go wrong with any of these! Many more
Diary of Horace wimp is my pick of that bunch, it plays on my works music playlist and I always sing along and no one else in the place had any clue what/who it is lol!
E.L.O. are my 2nd favorite band ever (The Beatles are #1) I got into E.L.O. after hearing John Lennon (in a radio interview in 1973) say he liked them a lot
If you really want different & unique it's time for..... The Diary Of Horace Wimp ! It's a must play the ELO will never forgive you if you don't play this magic little song ! If you really like it you can check out the Lego version 😉
You know I love your reactions, you give wholesome-honest feelings about how you feel about these awesome songs that you listen to. You also need to know that you have a fan base of lady follows, we've all got a small crush on you....😘💙💙💙😉😊😘 ----SMILE---
Your assessment of Jeff Lynne is spot on. Had this album while growing up. I recall that it was pressed in purple, translucent vinyl. Such great memories.
This album came out the same week my 36 year old uncle died suddenly of a heart attack. I was devastated and this album was one of the things that got me through. I think it’s all I listened to for a year
The Moody Blues were the first to incorporate an orchestra in 1967 on the album “Days of Future Passed”, and it has always been their signature sound to this day as they continue to tour.....
Many more to go from here, my absolute favorite group. ELO! Twilight, Evil Woman, Overture, Rollover Beethoven, Hold on Tight, Can't Get it Out of my head....and more. Jeff Lynne was also one of the guys in Traveling Wilburys.
Jay it's so much fun watching you react to ELO because with each song your smile gets brighter! "Strange Magic" is another goodie you'll love. Love your channel 💖
"Shangri-la" is a seriously underrated elo song. it has a dramatic finale that gave me chills the first time i heard it. it's my all time favorite elo song and id recommend you check it out :))
Shangri-La...one of my favourite tracks from E.L.O.'s 6th album A New World Record. I don't think I've ever heard anyone do a review on this song... it could be a first!
Raining all over the world? I think by that you probably mean "Showdown"...or maybe you mean " All Over The World". Two very different songs but either way both are great songs from E.L.O.
Your next ELO song should be "Turn to Stone". A song called "Do Ya" by The Move is also a great choice, as The Move is the 60s band that morphed into ELO by the 70s.
Underrated ELO song is '2095' from their 1981 album 'Time'..Jeff Lynne showing a bit of mystical genius writing about the future and computer technology and weaving into it a robot/human love story relationship. The whole album is a concept based on the future. 👍
It will blow your mind if you listen to the whole album "Out of the Blue" It is packed with quality and invention, and every tune is catchy as all hell. Then we get on to their other stellar albums......
"Time" is one of, if not their greatest album in my opinion. Play just the Prologue which leads into the first song Twilight. This is the beginning of an Epic Journey that takes you through Time. You will be mind blown by that part alone.
much as i love ALL of their magnificent albums,i have recently been listening a lot "Face The Music" and it might actually be my favourite ELO album,i didnt believe Out of the Blue could be equalled but i think it has. I envy young Jay really, getting to hear all this fantastic stuff from our era and appreciating it all, warms my heart to see young 'uns digging our great music. They'll be wearing flares next!
Honestly Jay, just start with the rest of this album and keep going through them all. There are no filler songs. You won't be disappointed by anything Jeff Lynne has done.
This is more disco ELO, they had other classics in that style such as Last Train to London I'm Alive All Over the World Xanadu (with Olivia Newton-John) Confusion Not disco, epic style like Mr Blue Sky - Wild West Hero
Yeah, this band gradually grew on me over the years and has moved far up on my list of favorite bands. I like what you said about them having so much going on at once in their songs. I think the same. It's like being at the best carnival ever! Even the spaceship album cover expresses the flavor of their music.
I remember listening to ELO with my dad when I was a little girl, and now I find myself singing ELO songs to my new baby girl. She gets the biggest smile on her face when I sing this to her 🥰 xxx
I would love to see you react to two songs from the Rocky Horror Picture Show: "Time Warp" and "Don't Dream, be it." (Or "Sweet Transvestite from Transylvania.") It is a movie, so video is required. This is the greatest cult movie ever made, and a great insight into the craziness of the 1970s.
This song was taken from the "Out Of The Blue" album which was released in 1977 and by 2007 had sold more than 10 million copies.Written and produced by ELO frontman Jeff Lynne. Jeff Lynne wrote the entire album in three and a half weeks after a sudden burst of creativity while hidden away in his rented chalet in the Swiss Alps. It took a further two months to record in Munich. Side three of the original double LP consisted of the symphonic Concerto for a rainy day. In a BBC Radio interview, Lynne talked about writing "Mr. Blue Sky" after locking himself away in a Swiss chalet and attempting to write ELO's follow-up to :A New World Record. It was dark and misty for 2 weeks, and I didn't come up with a thing. Suddenly the sun shone and it was, 'Wow, look at those beautiful Alps.' I wrote Mr. Blue Sky and 13 other songs in the next 2 weeks
Yaay i new ELO would be in your top ten, I'm in the UK and I've been lucky enough to see them 3 times and there highly well known for the the light shows using lots of lasers it's totally outstanding, Jeff lynne is so talented and top star's from around the world our always queuing up for him to write song's for them, he's written songs for the Beatles, Elton John, Mick Jagger and so many more from around the world, great as always, god bless.
Elo to najlepszy zespół muzyczny który nagrał piosenki wysokiej klasy z użyciem szereg instrumentów muzycznych mające wpływ na na jakość wykonania i tu odgrywali czołowi członkowie elo a w tym Jeff lin i mam szacunek do zespołu elo i ściskam gorąco wszystkich elo
You got it right on the nail. These guys to me were the Beatles of the 1970s. Unfortunately they broke up and dobt know why but these guys were on a roll with hits. There is something that Jeff Lynn brings that is just incredible..I don't know what I iui t is but he's got it. Respect for the maestro and genius.
Big ELO fan here. Privileged to see them in concert in 2016 (Radio City) and 2018 (MSG). Have so many favorites: Sweet Talkin Woman Living Thing Turn to Stone Rockaria Do Ya All Over the World I'm Alive Telephone Line Tightrope Evil Woman Mr. Blue Sky Rock n Roll is King Shine a Little Love And very underrated song: So Fine
My elder brother saw them all live on many occasions ( i was too young damn it); Led Zepp; Floyd; Black Sabbath etc etc. He said that ELO were the most impressive live.
Jeff Lynne writes all Lyrics and Music. He also produces everything you hear. He is ELO !! He's also a big time producer post ELO. He's produced George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Brian Wilson , Joe Walsh, and The Beatles !!
I am very impressed by your comment regarding ELO and Pink Floyd being on a par on the creative side. A lot of people would laugh at a comment like that, but I totally agree with you. Two very different styles, but two bands that are total genius and creative. Cudos, to you mate. If you want genius again, with an earlier sounding ELO, try their fantastic 1974 album, ELDORADO. A true classic.
Nobody mentions the Time album, which should be listened to in its entirety tbh. Prologue/Twilight (best played back to back as basically the Prologue mixes into the first proper track) The Way Life's Meant To Be 21st Century Man Ticket To The Moon
You always know when you are listening to ELO. They sound like no one else. Others to react to: The Diary of Horace Wimp, Don't Bring Me Down, Confusion, Don't Walk Away, Turn to Stone, and Strange Magic.
Thanks for this!! My favourite album of theirs is A New World Record. Please react to: MISSION: (A Word Record). Sadly, it fits right in with the world in its current condition.
I can't believe I used to listen to this SECRETLY when I was younger! I'm 33 now, but still listen to the golden oldies daily.. always love them and favour the oldies any day.
Those little breaks or details that catch you off guard are typical of Jeff's songs, once you know the songs well you'll anticipate them. So many titles! Livin' thing, Confusion, Turn to stone, All over the world, Strange magic, Can't get it out of my head. Lots of ELO enjoyment ahead.
In the early 70's Rolling Stone critics said Jeff Lynn was insane using a full string section in his music and the band would never last! I'm sure he has outlasted his critics! Genius, and strings? EAR CANDY!!!
ELO have that rare genius of many great bands in that each song manages to sound fresh and different yet somehow it's also unmistakably ELO. Pink Floyd, Zeppelin,The Beatles and the Stones also manage the same incredibly difficult trick, tis truly a sign of genius..
Everyone can see you appreciate good music. Your probably right when you talk about a Beatles connection as I seem to remember some of them mentioned that if the Beatles had been still together in the 70’s then ELO was probably what they would have sounded like.
