Unlike most other comments here I actually enjoyed this video. Really it's nice to see someone try something instead of just saying "No it can't work" without even trying. Heck someone had made a automated system that would take a wafer board and just build circuits and test to see if they worked and they found a couple that humans apparently just overlooked or jumped past.

You know, it's funny because it's obvious why people THINK things like this should work. SO, let's assume that it becomes possible to eliminate all losses (connecting wire/winding resistance, windage, bearing friction, etc.) and a perpetual motion device is created. It should also be CLEAR that a perpetual motion device, IF it were possible, only _BARELY_ works. Therefore *any* attempt to tap into the system and use some of the "recirculating energy" would instantly cause the entire thing to stop functioning. If I had a perpetual motion device running in my garage, right now, it would merely be a _curiosity_ and nothing more than a demonstration toy. We can all break the laws created by men, but we CANNOT bypass the known laws of physics...

If they were put in series as in both are parrelel this would potentially work and it wont generate backwards so switching wires wouldnt do it.. If you turn one 180 degrees then the shaft was slightly extended from the back.. The push motor needs to be 1/3- 2/3rds less power needed to run and due to drag the push motor needs a bigger pulley to scale it up on a v-belt the part of using the extra weight is a good idea ..to force momentum to carry on under small load ..the math scale you need is what i described it will work everytime but you must realise : if you use a car alternator it actually needs to run at 12,000-15,000 rpm even though your car charges at 1.5krpm to 2.4krpm approx the fact your drum pulley is scaled larger (so it is the push motor for example) your alternator would be the generator motor and always needs to have a smaller pulley so its rpms achieve its actual rotate to generate RATE ..ok for these systems to work properly youll want to use a regulator or a "buck" or a stepdown that lets you adjust the power going back into your push motor..keep in mind your push motor will heat up so thermal cpu computer paste can be helpful or a fan on it will also help..windmills in my opinion are nearly useless on cost/ efficiency , a waterwheel (longer or larger the pushing wheel is or bigger pulley the more efficient your system will be ..think of a farias wheel pushing a pulley in place of a bicycle pedal and a belt where the back tire used to be on a bicycle with an alternator on that same belt and bungo you have it )is a good way to go given it has more continous torque watts amps rpm caculate what your system is using and its better to have a rechargable battery field example marine batteries..and multiple "bucks" to regulate the power (NASA SHOULD HIRE ME BUT MY PARENTS ARENT FAMOUS ENOUGH the ironey)

You did not properly duplicate the theory mentioned by others who claim it works. They supply a a/c to power the motor and supply the caps with d/c from the output motor. The d/c is converted to a/c. I believe that they use a joule thief circuit in between the d/c and a/c converter. I am in no way saying it works because I never tried to see. I just think testing should be properly done before saying if it does or does not work.

Love your basic quriosity and stating you tried this when you were a kid. Keep that curiosity. Laws of conservation apply to closed systems, so opening up the system might be a way around that. How can it be done ? Energy is all around us, you just have to let it into your system and keep it flowing in. Look for cutting edge theories (as well as early ones) in the field of electromagnetism and atoms... Good luck !

I came up with the amazing idea of having a bunch of small motors all around a big motor. The big motor would drive the small motors through belts, with the small motors generating power for the big one. Or was it the other way round? I can't remember, I was about 5 years old at the time :)

Hello. I have a question I wanted to ask you. I've tried figuring it out on my own but I'm afraid of doing it wrong. I want to make a generator powered by my old weed eater for a hidden cabin. I want to run a low energy tv dvd combo. As well as one or two light bulbs for through out the night. I'd like to be able to run it for 4 to 6 hours. Im just wondering how big of an inverter I will need. As well as what batteries will I need? Thank you for your help!

It can create the impression or illusion of self running by using the caps as batteries ... One unity is not possible but free energy is if you pull power from the earth the sun hero thermal and many other free sources

If it were possible to build a motor with a magnetic 'floating' bearing, what would be the increase in efficiency? Also, if you're losing heat through the coils, how would something like this with a brushless setup work in comparison to the common brushed variant people are experimentin with?

Without the shafts coupled together, you can connect the wires together (polarity doesn't matter) and turn the shaft of one motor by hand. Small vice grips work well for this. The shaft of the other motor will rotate, but not as far as the drive motor. Good visual demo of motor/generator losses. And it looks nifty :)

Oh this will totally work, as long as there is are no losses. Unfortunately in the real world there are always losses. I think it is the Second law of Thermodynamics that pretty much rules out perpetual motion machines, isn't it? Now Be sure to tune in next week though when we put a windmill on the roof of a car to you know, power the car by the air rushing over the car while it is in motion.

Well if you only included some magic in the system, maybe a flux capacitor or two... then it would totally work.

There's no reason to beat around the bush, self-running IS impossible because it violates the Law of Conservation of Energy, and the laws of Thermodynamics amongst others. The only way you could have a self-running system is if they are 100% efficient, which is impossible. There are always going to be internal and external losses: Friction, internal resistance, viscous damping, and much more. Even if the system is 99% efficient, there will be a 1% decrease in energy output vs input, meaning this system will not self-run. So if you have a 100 W motor driving a 100 W generator, which is powering this motor, the only way they could self-run is that if this system is 100% efficient and the entire 100 W from the generator is sent to the motor. In reality, when the generator produces 100 W, the motor would probably see 80 W or below depending on how well constructed the motor and generator is and the next cycle, it would be 64 W and so on until 0. It maybe possible to get really efficient motors/generators via superconductivity etc but even then, it won't be 100%.

One electric motor turning two generators charging in parallel with batteries in series. Charge the battery at the same rate that it drains and the electric motor should run constantly. If a hose outputs 1 gallon per minute, and the bucket empties at 1 gal per minute, the fluid level in the bucker remains constant. : )

As long as you dont change the inside workings of a "normal" motor the regular motor is designed to auto destruct the dipole "battery" back emf, lenz law etc. etc. but if you use the back emf & structure the magnetic flux to flow with the current instead of opposing it then maybe just maybe you have a chance

Perpetual motion machine aren't possible...

I have an idea for constant energy flow :) Imagine a bunch of water wheels positioned above each other, each one when spinning generates an electrical current not so unlike a wind mill does but with water. At the top is a big basin of water, as the water falls straight down it spins the water wheels generating electrical current. When it reaches the bottom their is another basin, but this one can be shaped some what like an up side down bowl and is slanted down so water flows into areas that are separate and in these areas the water is evaporated and then travels up tubes and back to the top where water re-condenses and falls back down. In these tubes the steam is traveling up through, there is a smaller tube coming down from the top and small windmill like contraptions protruding from it. The rising steam spins these small windmills and generates electrical current that travels through wires in the center of these inner tubes and can either be used for extra energy output or help to heat the bottom bassins or even the tubes themselves so the evaperated water stays evaperated all the way up. The energy to keep the bottom hot enough to evaporate water comes from as many of the water wheels spinning as needed. To get more energy output you just make the contraption taller with more water wheels, It will always only take so many wheels spinning to keep the water on bottom boiling so more wheels equals more energy output. The material in the top basin can be designed as a heat sink to help the water re condense into liquid form, if built correctly, so no water/steam escapes, it just keeps going and going utilizing natural forces to function. If the device was built inefficiently, in that water was escaping from it in small amounts over time. One could easily rectify this issue by attaching a device to the top of it that naturally gathers moisture (Water) from the air and releases it periodically into the system to replenish it. :) Now just add the proper electrical wiring and chargable baterries into its design so all the excess energy being perpetuated can be accessed from plugs on bottom and/or top of device and presto you got yourself free energy.(Free in the sense that you didnt pay for it :) Please share this Idea with Everyone.

My father was obsessed with this idea for decades. He even rewound the motor wires for better efficiency. I never seen him get it to work.

This can be done. Loads of people have done it and it's not that difficult. I have managed to knock up a rough model. I might refine it in the future when I have more time. It's no big deal, there are loads of free energy machines out there. These types of machines are a little bit primitive now compared to the pure electronic generators which have no moving parts. The reason why this experiment was not successful, is because there is no potential difference in the design.Thats to say that everything is locked together, so there's no opportunity for it to freewheel and gather momentum. You also need some very simple electronics to make it work. The best ones are purpose built, so that all the coils,magnets,electronics etc, are all built into the flywheel, and they run on extremely low friction bearings. I made my (slap generator) as I called it, as school science project when I was 13 years old.I am now 58 years old. Believe me when I say, free energy machines have been discovered, built, and shelved. The governments of the world don't want us to have this simple technology. People have been threatened and even killed in order to keep it under wraps. They use bits of it occasionally for example, in some states of the US, all the emergency vehicles are powered by hydrogen. In certain parts of New Zealand they have ariels that absorb very usable electricity from the atmosphere, Tesla style, but they've had that since the seventies but there are many more examples. It's a flywheel with extra steps. Even with perfectly efficient motors/generators, and no frictional or air resistance losses, the most you can expect is it to spin at constant speed, like a planet in orbit.

We are trying the same thing, with puting some strong Magnet. We'll activate the magnet with a strong spark going to a coil. We expect that the brief spark of energy will generate a strong trust to the magnet that will ad momentum. This way we could create an over unit of energy that can be either reused immediately or stocked into a cynetic weel. What we need is a periodic spark that will accelerate as the speed will increase.

well, of course it doesn't work. you're using the wrong capacitors! it will self-run only with flux capacitors. but that will be only a 1 to 1 power ratio. no over-unity. for over-unity you need naquadah magnets. duh... ;))

Two asynchronous motor, sccording to Tesla, should be able to run with a capacitor in between the wires. Try out different connections of the wires, but you should give the inicial push.

Get a Hamster and put it in a running wheel in between both motors. You will have power until the Hamster gets tired .it will give you an extra few minutes of power .This video is from 2014 though and to be fair we have advanced in technology since then.

I tried this way back in my teens. The fly wheel idea with a battery pack (not capacitors) to help hold and control the "extra voltage" did work for a while but it does eventually stop. Even tried putting a gear box between a smaller "drive" motor and the generator motor. Same results. I even went as far as building my own generator to deliver more power than the motor I was using as a generator. Had some interesting generator designs......, but anyway, same results. Trying to achieve over unity might be able to be done. But it didn't happen for me. Next Batter may step up and take a swing!

Throw in a couple of diodes and some resistors. It still won't work but it will look pretty. Try using one motor with both an armature and a field coil. When you "break" the current to the armature the motor will run away. I remember this from experience about 40 years ago.

I have already messed around with this when I was younger as well. And came to the conclusion that you would need a significant jump in taller gearing, power storage(battery) and a rectifier. All in all, you would end up with a dead battery.

Motors are fun to play with. If you connect the two in series and load down one, the other will speed up and run faster. You can find ways get energy off the motors while they run. Wire a capacitor and a LED light across the motor connections in both directions and they will light up and the motor will run just as well. But, over unity is never possible.

I was alway kinda fascinating with this idea. I even still wonder with the right pulleys like a big pulley on the motor and small one on the generator and or a generator with a high output and a motor with small input.

This is a wonderful example of how it cant work, anyone fighting this is off there nut, the only way this can possibly have a chance would be a vacuum with magnetic bearings at zero Kelvin using super conductors, but all that is going to take a small power station to make to correct environment to have the 10 watt motor and generator run. The fun thing with such setup is that it is theoretically equally effetive as only use one motor and a flywheel. When motor is connected to generator and back to motor, there is no way to distinglish what is generator and what is motor. So we can probably get a slightly better performance if we just remove one of the enginges and we will not loose energy from unbalance and friction in the removed motor. It all boils down to law of conservation of energy...

I knew an auto mechanic years ago who actually believed that he could design an eight cylinder engine, four large cylinders to act as an air compressor into a storage tank to drive four smaller cylinders in a two cycle configuration using compressed air instead of expanding gases from burning fuel. The idea was to charge the on board air storage tank initially from a shop compressor and once the "engine" was put into motion, it would sustain itself into eternity on it's own regenerating compressed air supply. The only maintenance it would need was to keep the oil clean but because it didn't run as hot as an internal combustion engine, the oil would last considerably longer. That and replacing bearings, piston rings ect. as they wore out. He wouldn't listen when I tried to explain to him that the pressures that he could practically develop in this fashion would be much lower than normal combustion chamber pressures and could NOT sustain itself let alone that AND move an automobile too but this is how innovation happens. It comes from people who reach for the unattainable but settle for more than what's available.

Many comments here give a sense of determinism. It can't work because... Overunity does not defy the laws of thermodynamics. If done properly it can happen on any scale. Besides, if its actually impossible why is it illegal?

concept is sound but you can't use brushed DC motors (i.e. commutators don't work) and the drive motor needs to be a lower voltage than the driven(generator).

Did you try it with AC motor, alternator and a flywheel ?

Syncing motors calls for two exact motors for continuity, a small transformer, capacitor, and regulator.

After reading some of the comments I also became convinced that this will work for sure, all you need is a 100 watts or less motor that can produce 1 hp or more. I swear that I'll make it work if someone can find such machine. Off to the junk yards of the world lads...

You need to apply a pulse maybe with a reed switch to only power the motor and thus flywheel for maybe 10% of the full 360 degree arc. The flywheel will maintain the energy and add some, while the generator will convert all of the arc. Its this fact which makes the system self sufficient and able to power other devices. Regarding the reed switch. Its a switch activated by a magnetic field. Cheap to buy. Place a magnet on the flywheel at the edge and position a reed switch close to the wheel so that it only closes and activates the motor when the magnet passes. Add as many magnets (representing the pulses) around the flywheel to power the motor enough to start the wheel and eventually keep it running. Essentially the flywheel is interacting with gravity/rotation to increase the energy in the system thus making it an open system instead of the classically closed one. The fact it is open, also means its not relegated by the classically closed system models around thermodynamics for example and doesn't break any laws. The flywheel is akin to a wind generator/solar panel and acts as an interface to the energy all around us! In this case primarily gravity/momentum/earth rotation are the forces we capture. It definitely works, the wider/heavier the flywheel or balanced weights the better. Good luck!

you didn't look the whole picture..why there's so many capacitor on that table?..and it might be connected for those motor, for knowledge...capacitor and inductor(motor) connected parallel can create flywheel effect(unlimited energy) but need to supply it by enough energy...please everyone contribute not to criticize or negative on this. Think there's so many individual wanting our life easier and study what ever aspect that may contribute in our society. Appreciate their doing!!!

Its trivial to prove that you cannot connect two identical DC motors together and get a combined system that self-runs, even without invoking conservation-of-energy. If two similar motors are connected together and self running, they each see the same voltage (they are connected together!), and thus each have equal and opposite currents (because they are connected in parallel). By symmetry the currents are the same, so must be zero. Thus you can disconnect the motors and not change the current, ie the system isn't disturbed and will keep behaving the same (two separate self-running motors). So unless each motor already self-runs open-circuit, the combination cannot self-run. And since no off-the-shelf electric motor self-runs (someone would notice that!!), no combination of two similar motors connected symmetrically can self-run. Proved!

Yeah, that would work if you connected a variable impedance capacitor across the delta network in Alpha phase, but adjusted it for maximum flowtron reactance. I have one for sale for $200.

The principle behind this is actually quite easy to understand: Imagine if you didn't have any motors there's an equilibrium of energy that sum up to 0. If you have any realistic engine there will be losses, and so the equilibrium of energy ends up being 0 but some of that energy isn't going to power to engine and is actually being loss by friction, heat, and other electrics losses. Two motors of same efficiency will have double the losses as one motor, they should stop each other rather quickly once both are off the grid. you can't do like a electronic turbine that makes this thing spool up without fuel, or in an electron point of view, batteries or any outer source of power

The trick is to covertly provide power to the arrangement so that it appears to work, a few of those on RU-vid!

i had same issue with similar project. the 2 main issues were as both units are motors when power is coneted to both they will both drain the power rather than one producing and using..so i used 4 diodes to control the flow of power in to drive motor and out of motor generator. the second issue was direct drive if the 2 amatuers are connected so they are not electricly isolated from each other one amater can short other out or absorb power . so i found using belt drive as an ideal method of isolation and it also aloud me to change drive and drag wheels i used a 4" pully wheel for drive motor and 2 " pully wheel on generator motor. so the rpm of the generator was dubbled . i built it on 12vdc basis to start with it also had super capacitors as a rechargible power suply. the unit ran pretty nice

A friend of mine had an electric motor on it that he had wired so that as it ran it would self charge the batteries, but i'm not sure what he did to modify it exactly. But that is a good experiment just to see if they would do the task! :)
