When their electric narrowboat motor dies, it's a good job we were there to rescue them and tow them to safety in Narrowboat One Day More! Join us as we cruise on the Grand Union Canal with Paul and Anthony from RU-vid channel ‪@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked‬ on Narrowboat Morning Star. We tackle the 21 locks in the Hatton flight on our journey to Stratford-Upon-Avon.
Hello! If you are new here we are Caroline and Pete, and in 2021, after 10 years living in Texas, we sold up and moved back home to the UK to live full time aboard a 60ft narrowboat, One Day More, with our West Highland Terriers! Join us in our day to day life as we continuously cruise the canals and rivers of the UK. All of the ups, and the downs and everything in between!
If you would like to support our channel you can buy us a coffee or the westies some treats here www.buymeacoffee.com/onedaymoreN. All donations are put back into our channel, we are currently saving up for new audio equipment.

With all the general insanity in the states, these days, spending 42 minutes traveling with you through 21 locks and seeing the sweet, sweet country side, the ducks, the pubs, the cream tea debate lifted my spirits in a big, big way. From around the world, thank you!

We are thankful we chose to escape some of the insanity when we did Skip. It’s good to be home, amongst family, and enjoying a new found appreciation of our beautiful country from the waterways. And even more thankful we have built this wonderful online community from around the world to enjoy our travels. That was never part of the plan, but we love it 🥰

Sadly in Britain it's just as awful. Yes we have lovely canals and beauty but our country is being run by supporters of genocide etc.. it is not a good place to be at all.. but these good folks are trying to make the best of it as are we all. Just saying it's not a picnic here in the uk either. Imo. Atb.
@RedDoor888
@RedDoor888 Месяц назад
I think you missed his point completely. It isn't the British (or anywhere else) countryside, it is what you make of it. There is very little any of us can do about major world wide issues. What we can do is make the best of what is in front of us - which is what One Day More is doing. Finding beauty, joy and laughter where they can.

We had our daughter-in-law and her twin with us for a cruise starting at Warwick. Hatton was the first locks they had ever seen. About halfway up they wanted to take a break, but of course, there was no place to do so. It was also a day with no volunteers. We moored at the top and trudged to the pub up on the hill and ate like animals. Coming down after a week that included the BCN they were experienced and we breezed through. Thanks again for the memories.

@@onedaymoreaboard It all goes to the same place. ☺ Your tea plan makes sense because you know the tea in the pot is fully brewed and the milk won't make the whole cup weak. A bag in a cup is iffy. It might be too weak for the amount of milk you've already added. I've done that and it was bad...

Was it someone leaving two sets of paddles open ? That’s a serious lot of work those locks ! Parents had it easy, me n sis worked our butts off 😂 Fond memories seeing Hatton again. Gotta be about 12 years ago since we were there. I’d forgotten about those C-block sections. Very unusual ! Jam first, cream after…. Everyone knows that 😜 Love the fact you passed a boat name A Day To Remember. Thank yin so much Veronica. We have some wonderful memories to hold on to, you’re so right. We have a lot of questions about moving our car and the boat, and I will be dedicating a video to it in the next couple of months, when I’ve caught up on everything else! We use public transport whenever possible, to either go back and collect the car, or move it ahead if we know exactly where we are going. It was much easier traveling with Paul and Anthony, as we would use each others vehicles to collect the one left behind 😊

Hi guys - could you please give some details on how far you can travel on a full tank of diesel, how often do you fill up and how easy is it to find fuel, also how large are your tanks - water and fuel and what’s your electrical power usage? Just more work for you!!
@onedaymoreaboard

Hi Swanny, we usually keep our diesel tank as full as possible to prevent condensation and diesel bug, we also add a fuel treatment every time we top up. As we recall it holds something like 200 litres. We just topped up today and it took 42 litres that has been for a full month, cruising, running the engine to charging batteries and the Ebersbacher to heat water, heating etc.. We could easily go 3-4 months possible longer on a full tank if we wanted to run it down. Fuel is available at marinas and fuel boats so availability is never really an issue. Prices can vary a lot though so we tend to wait until we see a cheaper marina or fuel boat. Water wise we have a 110gal (approx 500 liters) tank that typically lasts a week but again, we top up every few days whenever we see a water point. Power wise, we upgraded our batteries last year to LifePO4 batteries and have 400ah capacity plus 100ah lead acid for our leisure batteries. The LifePO4 batteries have been a real game changer and give us so much more usable power. We typically use around 100 to 150ah per day so can now go 3-4 days without needing to run the engine in normal weather. In the winter we might run the engine every couple of days to charge the batteries but they charge so much quicker than the old lead acid, usually about an hour will get us to 100%. Before we changed the batteries we would run the engine for 2-4 hours per day in the winter! In the summer when it’s sunny we generally don’t need to run the engine as we get most of our power from our solar panels and the batteries will fill daily. Hope that I’ve explained properly and that helps? Pete 😊

Hi Pete and Caroline, loved the video and enjoy watching your vlogs. I'm impressed how clean and polished your boat is. Could you tell me what product you use to clean and polish the paintwork please as our boat Summer Wanderer is needing a polish and i don't know what product to use. Thank you guys

Hi Kevin, I have to admit I’m a bit lazy when it comes to polishing the boat. I use a regular car wash and wax to clean it and then a Meguiar’s quick spray wax that I then wipe off. We’re helped a bit because our paint is an Epoxy so seems to look shiny without much effort. Not sure if you watch Julie & Martin on Rhapsody In Blue but Martin is a boat polishing nerd 😆. He swears by G3 products which he uses daily and his boat is always immaculate and shiny. He’s actually moored next to us right now and out there cleaning his boat 😊. Hope this helps?
