but I gotta ask. Why do we consider an atom to possess a lot of nuclear potential energy? Is it because of the protons wanting to repel each other? What about the neutrons? They would not possess any potential energy. Then, why do we consider molecules to have chemical potential energy? Are the atoms being prevented from moving in some way?
