Electric Vehicle Fees in Pennsylvania? Sooner Rather Than Later 

To me it sounds that the politicians and their friends from the oil companies are loosing money. So Pensilvania roads were in bad shape before EV’s so now they wanna blame it on EV’s.

Are the fuel taxes actually dedicated to roads and other vehicle related state expenses. OR, as in many places, are fuel taxes just dumped into general revenues? The point was made, fuel taxes are consumption based, while registration fees are flat rate. To be fair, the fees charged for yearly registration should be distance based. Frankly, bumping yearly rate to $250 for an EV is low compared to distance rate.

Here in Israel we have 100% tax on fuel, so now they wanna add a mileage tax for EVs of 0.15 nis per km that's 4 cents a km! That's on top of how a Tesla model 3 costs here 60k $ due to taxes.

California is moving forward with a 30 cents per mile road user tax on EVs.

If the contract for Penndot to construct roads was the best material and installation, half of PA would not have as many crumbling roads. Unfortunately Penndot seems to give to the lowest bidder and therefore, not as good materals or installation that the major roads get re-done every so many years and the ones where lower-middle class drive on become outright dangerous with the severity of potholes that are never spot filled. Also, Penndot has apparently never heard of a sander before. With the road surface slightly warping over time and becoming uneven, you would think Penndot would put down a giant sander that smooths a few millimeters out the surface of the road.

This type of tax is a bad idea. For my ICE vehicle I am taxed by the amount of fuel I burn and thus how much I drive. If they do this I will be charged no matter how little or how much I drive. The tax really needs to be by yearly mileage instead. Which is easy to determine since we have yearly vehicle state inspections here anyway.

I save thousands of dollars a year on fuel and maintenance in NY. I won't flinch at a $21 per month tax on my Tesla. I thought it was funny when he mentioned EV's competing with ICE cars....LOL! When you finally make the switch, you will understand. There is no competition. Next time you visit a golf course, ask yourself, "Why did I chose this electric golf cart when they also had gas powered ones that I could ride?" Hmmm?

I will trade in my EV for a plug in Hybrid Prius Prime (44 miles electric range). I will escape a large portion of the gas tax since most of my trips are local.

In all honesty say's the guy about to lie! Big question, do you guys get paid by any entity to say the content you do on your programing? Do you know how a sellout feel's? The ones that don't complain about the tax hike are well off enough that it doesn't affect them or they profit off the influence they are making!
