So let me get this straight EVangelists. You tell me that Barrie is not to be trusted because he is an ex-car salesman (with an unblemished record I might add). Yet in the same breath, you tell me that Quentin Wilson is to be trusted, even though he too is an ex-car salesman (with a conviction for selling clocked cars). Can somebody please explain that logic, because I am struggling.
I can explain. Simply put Quentin Wilson is fighting their corner, spreading the good word of Electric Jesus and his disciples. Quentin plays by the rule book of EV fanboyism which is, only mention the good points about EVs don't mention any of the drawbacks, shortcomings or inconvenient truths about EVs. Also if you can't find enough good points then just go along with the other BS fantasy positives like the brake discs and tyres last 40k miles etc. Genuine praise & mascots for EVs are in very short supply, so the moment a Z-list celebrity like Quentin is willing to sell their soul for a few EV related paychecks to say nice things about EVs and lie about how great they are, he's every fanboys best friend.
I drive many EV’s at work. They are dreadful heaps of dung on wheels. I work at a massive 2nd-hand car dealership. The trend there is that 2nd-hand EV’s are just not selling.
Yep like the time when he decided to completely ignore data from numerous sources about the incidence of EV fires and instead told a number of anecdotes about unreported ICE fires he'd suffered.
@@esm7708 When an EV burns what is the temp and how long does it take the fire brigade to put it out? Then please provide the same info re. ICE fires. 👍🏻😎
Someone should hire Barry, Geoff and EV-Carnage for a new Top Gear. Imagine the part where they buy cheap cars for a road trip: Geoff: 30 year old Volvo for 3k Carnage: 20 year old Alfa Romeo for 4k Barry: 5 year old EV for 5k
I love this bloke, tells it right, had my 2 litre diesel for a full year today, cost me 2600 pounds, my mate offers me 3700 pounds for it, I sead no way, it's made 1100 quid, so I've run it for NOTHING, just get a diesel lol x
@@wizzyno1566well the value of both of mine have risen over the last year but no plans to get rid. When used ICE cars are cheap there is nothing to lose really
Stick to it many of us enjoy your videos. Professional information to inform people about EVs.They are a problem, the way they are being pushed on to us.
Hilarious to decry a real-life autotrader with decades of experience and no anti-EV bias of not being an expert. Bud - Barrie is the epitome of an expert - you gotta ask a car salesman with experience. They know what is going on in the market.
I don't think decent EV cars have been on the market long enough to know anything yet. Any of the 300 mile versions haven't come off lease yet. And a decent EV like the skoda enyaq has only been available since 2021
I must say, I have put several comments on youtube evangelist EV channels and anything that is detrimental to their argument, or religion, it doesn't take long, before you get cut off and not allowed to comment anymore, to re-establish their channel's echo chamber, with only their own sect member's biased opinions. Sad really, when their God has been brought down to earth by realitic evidence and they are too stubborn, blinkered and biased to admit it.
The new price on the Model X has been cut by around 30% over the past 2 years, so the used ones have to follow suit (at least if the actually want to sell.) What will happen in the future all depends on whether the Chinese are permitted to dump their surplus production on the European market. If they are, it'll be great for consumers and terrible for used car sellers.
Barry. I wonder what the "TRUE STAND IN VALUE" is on the "STOCK SHEET" against what they actually paid / allowed. Looks to me like " A LOT OF RED INK , DAYS IN STOCK !!." How do they propose to move some of these " LEMONS EATING MONEY IN A BIG WAY " Answers on a post card .
I am with you. You are on the spot every time. Why do people not learn from you. EVs are not only going down it is a failed technology. BTW EV was invented by Scotsman in 1832 I believe was the correct year. We see in the last month how many fires we had because of the EVs and some cars self flame on the street. In Florida they have a huge problem with flooded EVs. Everybody that got EVs lost 90% of the value in 1 year. They will need to pay the finance and throw their hard earned money in water. EVs are a scam!!!
BEVs are best leased. Buy it to resell if market value is much higher than residual value. But most likely walk away from that ticking time bomb. The reason they don't sell well is people who aren't early adopters know OEM battery pack replacements are too expensive and may not even be available when the time comes. Fuel saving get eclipsed by eventual BEV repair costs.
You are right but I’m glad your right as im looking for a real bargain and won’t be a problem finding one . About time these cars became affordable since car sales the last 15 years have been a total bloody rip off . Good luck kids .
Barrie Crampton is pretty sharp most sales experts and guys in the auto industry advise to avoid in general. EVs might be the answer to some people but not for me at this time.
The sale of 3-5 year old EVs probably are up 138%. But thats only because new EV sales only really kicked off 3-5 years ago so there Are hardly any older than that. So you get a rise of 138% because of the base effect.
The EV's older than that won't have a large battery or a decent range. Problem is the later ones are so much better than the earlier if the range is double.
Autotrader probably throwing up Polestar into the mix I suspect due to other Tesla interested searchers also looking up Polestar. Useful video Barrie, showing that EVs are actually "destabilizing" truth be told.
EV residuals do seem to have stopped crashing. But then they have to at some point - at some point they become a no brainer for the right customer. We may have reached that point.
Alright, let's compare the 2014 Model S to another car brand of your choice from the same year, keeping the mileage and car size consistent. How much do they cost today? All cars depreciate over time! I've owned several 996 Turbos that people didn't appreciate back then, but I could see their future value. When I sold them for 2-3x what I paid, everyone told me I was wrong for not waiting longer. Today, their prices have dropped about £20,000 from what I sold them for two years ago. So, maybe you're like an old horse that doesn't want to pull the load anymore, opting instead to criticize what you don’t want to learn because you think kW and kWh are too hard to understand.
Let me understand something... Is Winter or Summer coming for EVs!? (...I heard it will be a harsh winter because we had a sunny summer in UK..) ..Should we talk again about EV in Spring 2025?
As we are not in the EU all those who want ev's should have a vast choice soon. The UK has declined to follow the EU in adding tariffs to chinese cars. With all the NEW cheap cars flooding the market I shouldn't think it will help used values one bit.
Buying car is the 2nd most expensive think you will buy. At the moment no one is 100 percent sure its the way to go and it to big financial risk to get it wrong. Hence new car martket is frozen until it becomes clear
Nope it was very real, the long queue at Barcelona last week. I'm happy, I extended my stay to avoid a return trip and another flight from prison island for this week. Weekend in Spain with beautiful friends instead of shit hole Broken Britain.
@@mytinplaterailway Plenty of prospects and friends there for me and when I escape from toxic, backward facing prison island, someone else will have to fill the tax gap left behind. Cough up...
it's bad new for those who own an EV, and it's even worse for companies that make EVs; except maybe for chinese EV companies that can scale up production to reduce costs.
Just how much of the EV crap is been covered up at " Some large dealer groups". On autotrader the time EVs are advertised NOT SOLD makes interesting reading. A project , what eventualy happens to these vehicles been there 6 / 9 months . When you go to try and buy they will NOT SIGN THE SURRENDER AND KEEP THE BULL SHIT FLOWING " HOW BOYANT THE MARKET IS ". ( Looking at cars been there 6 months!!).
Ah the concept of advertising. Putting something in front of peoples eyeballs that they don't explicitly ask for. Shocking. Willing to bet that more than a few Polestars have been purchased by people who searched, initially, for a Tesla. Some consumers will start with very little awareness and have no idea that, say, polestar even exists - so placing adverts for a rival product to a Tesla on search for a Tesla seems not foolish.
