One the BEST Product Demos I have ever seen. Don is GREAT, tells you everything you need to know; and, just enough playing so you can REALLY HEAR what it can do for YOU - and he doesn't hold us hostage against our will to some endless showing-off endless solo-fest. NICE JOB, DON; You just sold me one!!!!
Just got mine. Very happy with it. I have other fuzzes but this is different. You can play chords and even stuff like 7th's, 9th's, sus chords sound cool. Very nice.
+Wall OfNoise they make an okay fuzz with an octave function that doesn't work very well--but the fuzz tone is just like Smashing pumpkins for dirt cheap. if you're looking for good fuzz, go with the biyang fuzz star or the moen fuzz moo.
havn't got a big muff yet at all and now im sold with this one, im a fan of smaller pedals unless its a wah, only time i wouldn't get one is if it had less controls and/or sounded different
A fantastic pedal. I plug it into any amp I plan to buy. Any amp that doesn't sound good with this pedal to me is a piece of shit and a great way to weed out the good and bad amps. The sustain is absolutely ridiculous and it just sounds awesome once dialed in. People who get noise either are using single coils or have a crappy power supply, my Nano is dead silent in my chain.. love it.
These have higher gain transistors than the full size modern Big Muff. The regular NYC Muff has BC550 transistors with a gain of around 800 while the Little Muff uses 2N5962 with a gain of 1500-2000.
I really wish I could make it to gearfest, but my son is getting married that Saturday. Next year for sure though so I can have Nick Schenkel introduce me to you and Mitch Gallagher. Great demo as always Don!!!
Most fuzz users , don't play open sustain chords with a fuzz pedal , and mostly play solos and single notes on the low bass strings ? And mostly damp the chords ?
Great question! You can pair any fuzz with any distortion pedal, but your mileage may vary in terms of the end result. What sort of tone are you going for? +Bradley Casteel - Okay, i think we got a misunderstanding here. Some fuzz pedals use germanium transistors. These transistors vary in some values and each fuzz sounds different. The Big Muff uses silicone transistors and the versions sounding different, because Mike Matthews plays with the values of some components and the types of silicone transistors. So each version is different.
its andreas here from athens greece. let me ask you..., ......why does the big muff make my other pedals sound less in volume??any answer would be highly appreciated.
The Big Muff greatly reduces the guitars mid-range frequencies when it is engaged. “‘Mids” as in Highs, Lows, and Mids; are the easiest frequencies for our ears to pick up. Scooping the mids creates a perceived volume loss. This is also why overdrive pedals like the Ibanez ts9 pedals tend to spike the volume of guitar. Instead of scooping the mids, overdrive pedals like that boost them.
Hi, Al! Thanks for your inquiry, hope you and yours are safe and well. The Big Muff is a classic fuzz/distortion with a very saturated output. The Origin head is a really solid no frills tube amp. "Good" is a really subjective term, so it depends on what your goal tone is. Tons of records with Big Muff and Marshalls, so if that iconic "on the verge of exploding" combo is what you want, then these will provide! Contact me direct for more. I have tried this but you loose the sound of the Big Muff.In my case i use the overdrive from my amp so when i mix both pedals it is almost like the Big muff is not present.Only when the amp is clean you can hear the real sound of it,i wish i could use both though...at least to try
Hi, Daniel. There is no right or wrong on this, and only really matters if you stack the drives. If you place it before the overdrives, then the fuzz will have more of the sonic character of whatever drive it is running into. If it is after, the reverse will happen. Thanks for your interest!
