The Hi-Tech 2100 (see inside cover) was manufactured from 1985-87 in sand & jade, and from 1987-88 in sand & taupe (like yours). It was the standard cylinder. The L-E 1623 was the basic cylinder and was made in both color combos, as well. The other machines in the sets (same colors) were the Model 2101 shampooer/polisher, and the CB2000 commercial cansiter. Electrolux Corporation was renamed Aerus LLC in 2000 when the trademark and brand were sold back to AB Electrolux of Sweden, who also owned The Eureka Company. By 2003, Aerus's vacuum cleaners were also made at the Eureka plants in El Paso & Mexico. So "Eureka-Lux" can be applied to both the AB Electrolux and Aerus products from that time forward.
The particular style was introduced in Canada in 1982 with the E-2000 (standard cylinder) and E-Special (basic cylinder--without the automatic shut-off feature). Only the latter is still made by Aerus and is called the Lux Classic, Model C151M. The standard cylinder was modified to include the onboard tool caddy and is currently sold as the Lux Legacy, Model C153E. Both are jet black with dark gray trim and have been in production since 2013.
I truly enjoy watching your Electrolux (or most any vacuum) service videos, where you take apart the vacuum, clean it thoroughly, replace any worn out parts, and then reassemble the unit. In this video, the PN seemed to be making a strange noise so you adjusted the motor tension. I'm curious about something else that I observed while watching: is it perhaps the brush roll itself? I noticed that the bristles are long enough to make contact with the compartment that the brush roll rests in. Is that normal? Wouldn't that created undesired resistance with the "rolling" action of the brush roll, and cause unwanted friction also? Just my keen attention to detail and powers of observation at work here. I trust your skills and training, so you probably were correct (it was the motor tension). :-)
Is the power nozzle's model PN6A? The metal brush roll guards make me think that; although the spring-loaded wheels make me think 6B. The model 7B, with the same color hood and label, was also sold at the time but was equipped with stationary wheels.
I have an old AP280 model from early 80s. Still works great but the retractable cord no longer retracts. Do you know of any videos on how to repair this? Thanks!
We have this unit and the cord is getting warm and the metal of the plug gets very hot. What would you suggest what should I look at to see what is causing this problem? Thanks
I agree. The Lux Guardian Platinum, Model C177A, is made and assembled overseas which is likely why it costs so much. Aerus has to try to recoup its expenses!
@@craigl1838 That doesn’t make any sense. It would cost them a lot more to assemble it here in the US unfortunately. People won’t work for pennies like they will overseas. That is why US industry is dying
Hey there, I have this vacuum. I have always taken it to this store to have it fixed. Unfortunately it's too old for them to work on now. I have a problem as one of my wheels broke and I have to buy one on Ebay and try and fix this myself. I have no idea what I'm doing and I could really use some help on how to take this vacuum apart? I know this is a shot in the dark asking for help on RU-vid.
Tell me... Do the Electrolux canisters (of the company later renamed "Aerus") have longer lifespan than the Kenmore canisters? If so, can you tell me why?
I would say most vacuums have a longer lifespan than Kenmore. Kenmore in most cases was the cheapest bidder for Sears who could put their name on a vacuum cleaner.Aerus focus was being a premium brand with premium features. the quality of plastics bearings and overall design are far superior to the Panasonic kenmore's . If you're really looking for a vacuum that lasts you might take a look at SEBO which are commercial grade machines for the home.
I have a newer model and the power head keeps throwing the belt. I bought a new cheap belt from Amazon, and it threw that off. I replaced the roller with a new one to make sure the cogs were not worn, and the belt is still coming off. I loosened the motor, and pulled it back the little bit it will move for more tension. I'm ordering another belt from another store to see if I got a wrong sized belt to start with. Any suggestions for anything else to look for?
@@PerformanceReviews It's only been changed once that I know of. The unit is probably 25 years old. Yes, I set the tension every time I had the bar out when I changed the belt. It slipped and chewed the teeth on the new belt a bit. I have a new one on order. Is there a certain direction the belts need to run?
