Model Electrolux 6500sr
Broken top switch cover
Broke switch housing
If switch is still clicking but wont run check bag switch inside bag chamber in right corner where bag sits, bent bags cause not to hit properly
If the machine is running and automatically turning off with full bag sensor without being full you have a issue with air control valve
You can attempt to slide rails off from front before trying to start but often is hard to remove that way, heres a video to hopefully help
There are different ways to remove rails this method seems to be easiest if careful
The less things you move around the easier it will be when putting back together.

This was an excellent how-to video. Great job! My switch cover broke on my Electrolux 6500 vacuum cleaner. I followed your video instructions and replaced it as you taught us. I replaced the rocker too, for good measure. These two parts were recommended by the eVacuum store to be purchased together.

Thanks Paul I appreciate it. Seems quite rare the spring would go bad (although possible). Just searching on ebay "electrolux switch spring" I see people selling the cover + spring (appears to be a generic switch cover but only priced at about $10.00. I do not see the actual spring listed in the image, but I would message the seller to confirm the metal spring is actually included with the sale prior to purchase. Otherwise a local repair shop may have some used springs laying around.

Thanks for the video! How is that switch cover removed? The plastic is brittle and I don't want to break something by prying on it unnecessarily.

If you look at 3:09, you can see on plastic nubs that hold down the switch in place (although broken off in my example). You can use flat head to very gently twist for them to pop off. If they do crack you will need to replace the switch housing as shown.

Thanks. I was thinking that the tab on the switch cover between those two plastic nubs was capturing the switch housing and if I released it, I could just slide the cover forward under the two nubs without having to pry around on them. @@wintech5245

Remove the side rails first, slide them forward,not back, then the top will come off easily and you won't risk breaking the clips by prying the end cap off with a screw driver.....

Strawboss, I agree with you and I noted this in the description. You certainly risk cracking the housing using the method (the older more brittle this is most likely). But the rails do not always come off as easy as expected.
