I have the ion pro session...I'm a prof musician and this thing is totally amazing...great bank of sounds....I have a double kick preset, a Latin preset, an afrocuban preset and a couple studioesque presets...I recommend this to all my students novice to advanced...even has a click and a backup band!
I guess it doesn't matter. I get SO many emails from people asking why their setup doesn't play as well as mine. And it's the same answer everytime. Their kit isn't VPT. I went with a Roland kit at first, myself. And I was completely frustrated with it. I had to shell out money for a kit that didn't play well with software... that was the lesson I had to learn because I didn't want to invest in something worth my dollars. I'm glad I did :-) -mikey
i use this for making my dj beats through m-audio trigger finger and ion and a mixer i doont even use the drum pads i just use the interface and its awesome i hav no problems
no its a electric drumset with a drum module the idm02 the usb drumset is the ied05 but i suggest this one because usually drumsets with drum modules are better than having to have a computer with your drumset
it's for beginners. Very simple kit and perfect for a small places. I have it one in my little house. ( a Christmas present) ....but I think also that the drum pedals are terrible!.

@griffinmpable and it is not only midi capable, but it actually has some good sounding kits in it. i think i might buy this and dive right into the world of midi controllers AND drumming at the same time.
i understand that this def isnt the best unit out there, but for the price of the cheaper units that they are selling now, its almost worth it for any beginner. ive been playing guitar the better part of a decade now, and i feel i need to break away from all the different stringed instruments i play. ion sells a 140 dollar basic set, that comes without the module. they sell it saying its for those who have a sound module already. i use garageband in my mac for a lot of music applications....
i have a question. My drum machine doesnt work for my pedal, its not the pedal cuz it works for Rock band. I need to get a new machine but i cant find the model im looking for, all i can find is the Alesis, its $150. Will the Alesis model work with my Ion drum set?
I have the same drum set, but the drum machine (brain) is with a USB cable. I wana buy ( iDM01 drum machine ) , but i don't know if it will work. Can someone tell me?
everybody who says this sucks, I would have killed for this when I was STARTING out, I spent 300 quid on an acoustic kit my mother would hardly let me play because of noise and space issues, this kit though would be good to learn things like learning the coordination for the basic shit, THEN, you would sell this junk , and let yourself rip on a real beast :D
You get what you pay for with RET Percussion. The little bit extra you pay for one of those baby's pays for itself, because you won't break those drums. I wouldn't play on anything but RET Percussion, especially because they're the first and best at electronic drum software. -mikey PS - Check my videos for more info!
this drumset's only good to buy, if you're not a permanent drummer. For part time drummers like me. I'm not a drummer personally, but a set like this is just for a backup emergency.
@StudioXXXIII If all or several drum trigger inputs don't work, someone probably used too long a screws, or else drastically overtightened the screws that clamp the drum module to the rack. The mounting screws went too far into the case and dug into the trigger circuit board destroying the circuitry. If your triggers no longer work, and if you know what you're doing, remove the trigger circuit board and check it for physical damage from the screws. It's not an easy repair, needs microsoldering
I have tried this, and several yamaha roland and alesis, don't believe those who say they are professional musicians and they like it, i mean, maybe somebody who is just starting and maybe won't even continue drumming could benefit from the price, but if you are serious about drumming i would suggest going for something that actually sounds/feels good (i recommend yamaha, but the 3 i mentioned are very good), this kit is very bad, sorry
dude, what do you expect for a $200 drum set? Its really just meant as a starter kit or for guitarist like me wanting to dick around and lay down rough tracks..
