Having just bought a new car with an electronic parking brake instead of the old manual one I'm used to, I wanted to ensure I know how to use it properly before I collect the car tomorrow (I don't fancy learning whilst driving it home!!). Your video was really helpful and explained it in really simple terms - thank you so much!
That's the problem as you have to depress the foot brake. You're doing 4 things at once, clutch, foot brake releasing electric brake and then sliding right foot over for revs. It's annoying
Hi I’m having a wobble ref the new parking brake in my car ( to be picked up Saturday) This video has really helped! May I ask ~ what do I do to leave the car completely . Apply the electronic parking brake as I leave car? Or does it automatically go off when I turn car off? Thank you. Marie.
Depends on the car. Mine is an automatic tiguan and once the lever is in park the brake auto engages I never have to touch the parking brake at all. But in a manual car it would probably be different.
Quite. Thanks Stephen, but no need to explain in detail (for over a minute) how to use a manual handbrake... that's not why we're here. Too much off-topic talking!
Great, yes I have a Focus manual like this and have just learned exactly whats in this video, so wish I'd seen it beforehand. Just one thing to add - if you're ready to reverse off your slopey drive for example, you start off and then see something coming and dip your clutch you WILL roll forward, so keep one finger on the handbrake switch as you reverse . My advice to anyone with one of these is 9after seeing the video) go find a steep hill and practice both starting off and reversing off , takes a while but you soon do geet used to it
For some reason my car seems to have the hill assist stay on when I'm trying to pull away when I'm on a hill but going down it. It never did that before and I cant seem to get it to stop. Any Help?
