@@chrisnguyen2316 I see that he has the same game plan, but the shorter hitstun of this game makes his combos way harder to pull off. I see people breaking out of his classic up air combos constantly. And he appears to have fewer kill options with a nerfed back throw and down air (up B is more powerful though). I don't know, it just seems like every character's frame data and movement has improved a lot due to the new mechanics, which seems to play against Mario. But prodigy proved to me that he still has a good neutral and combo game, it's all about spacing, good timing and being fast enough.

@@sk8_bort fair enough, Mario certainly can struggle against characters that can wall him out(see Prodigy vs Nicko), but the fight's not impossible to win! He just has to be patient and look for an opening

Elegant plays really solid but his big weakness is getting kill thirsty. He just spams the tornado and prays or gets too aggressive instead of playing neutral safely when it resets to it.

Tobi Uchiha luigi has so many crazy kill options, that's definitely not why.

When he is in the air as he performs it, it becomes a projectile, regardless of whether you land with it or not. If you are on the ground, it just becomes a regular grab.

It's not really that viable since DI is a big factor. That's why Elegant tried twice (I think) and one time he just messed it up.

It's still possible with the right read for the DI, but there are lots to factor in to precisely get the kill.

Late reply but Elegant has a few sets where he plays mario, can't recall any off the top of my head but you should be able to find it pretty easily

People outplay people sometimes. That's how games work.

Even if luigi wins the matchup (which I think he does), it is still possible to get outplayed. Prodigy just outplayed Elegant this set.

If anything elegant carried Luigi in smash4. If Luigi was that good in smash4 that he "carried" Elegant than why was there not any other top ranked Luigi players.

Elegant is incredibly respectable and skilled. Down B just happens to be one of Luigi's best defensive tools and in this matchup you're going to be in Disadvantage a lot. I don't know where you get cocky from either. He's very kind and sportsmanlike.
