This was a great video to pop up in my stream. Not only am I inspired to dive more deeply into my A4, but you also delivered one of the most interesting pieces of advice I have ever heard. That is - being yourself is the one thing you can do and not fuck up. It seems so simple, yet is quite difficult to pull off. I am comitting to that philosophy this year. Cheers.
I'm glad you found the video and the message... if there is any cheat code I could share with my fellow creatives it's that one! I was on my path many many years before I came to that conclusion. Now I'm free through frequencies! We have the keys to unlock new realities!
Facts. That is actually one of the biggest truths I found myself in my creative journey. The minute you start thinking about creating something to please people, you will not really come up with anything interesting. Just be yourself, in every aspect in life..
Thank you, I really want to add a different perspective to the scene that isn't focused on getting the new flavor of the month instrument. I'm going to be uploading more videos like this soon!
One of the goals of my channel is to help people hold on to their instruments a little while longer before selling them. i didn't connect with the A4 when I first got it. i just put it away for a few months until i could spend more time with it. once I did I was super stoked on what it's capable of... I still have a lot more to learn and discover. thanks a lot for checkin' my channel!
I've got three of the mK2's. I've got a Rytm too, but I find that that A4 is better for sound design all 'round so I mostly just use the A4's. But with the Digitone also taking up drum duty now, I might scale down. Or maybe not. I can't recommend the A4 enough.
@@100drips True jon is dope... I wonder if anyone ever drops my name on his page... more than likely not, but it's ok. HAHA hows that for a virtual guilt trip. Peace.
Well hello there Sir! I was just passing through and I found this to be a unique take on the A4. I'd still like to pick one up, even though I have other tools. Best wishes and you have a new subscriber -- Happy New Year 🦬
I just got one of these, great to hear your thoughts on it. I’m also finding that is a bit like a modular in a box, seems endless. Love the drum examples!
HAHA yeah! I just love making music, I still want to be able to go out and drink a cup of coffee and buy my own groceries unnoticed. I do enjoy being recognized by my peers though! Thanks for tuning in.
@@VoltageCtrlRtv Keys are still really surprisingly cheap in my part of the woods.. I would get one if you can get a good price for one it´s such a cool experience using the keys to sequence and the led lights above the keyboard give supreme feedback on what notes you are imputing especially if your doing arps! Best visual feedback.. love it. The sounds you produce are wicked good man respect.
I just got the RYTM a few weeks ago, the A4 has much more sound design options. But I'm really enjoying my tie exploring with the RYTM. I post a review soon.
Very inspiring IDM sounds and lines! I wish that Elektron add the same functionality about the seqencer to A4 as in Rytm. Being unable to make normal ratchets pisses me off a bit... And influences to make more "techno-ish" music sketches than I wanted in the beginning. Anyway I don't regret that I've bought it. It's a great standalone tool to splash out your ideas. I've got a used Microfreak as well and soon I'll pair them together. H2n will help me to record some jams.
How have I not heard of you before? I recently decided to see if I should pick up an A4 mk1 given how cheap they are now, and I was very skeptical about 4 voices having been spoiled by some older gear. I need to rethink how I approach all of my art maybe... I know that mk1 has less bass but I feel like I have bottom end covered. Metta from Tucson!
When using tracks for sequencing external gear like tb03 for example is it poossible to use slide note and accent note trigs or are they disabled when sequencing externals?
I don't sequence synths like the 303 externally, specifically with the 303 part of it's magic is the internal sequencer, so I only clock these kinds of synths so they stay in sync with everything else .
@@VoltageCtrlRtv i will save you a hassle. You can't. A4 doesn't send midi cc. You can do slides and accents only rhrought the use of cv. Maybe they should make a firmware update for analog 4
Dang im on he fence about getting the digitone or the syntakt. I already have the DT now but the syntakt is on sale. What do you think is more sonically diverse? Thanks for the guidance and insight, great vid! Subbed!
If you're looking for sonic diversity I would go with the Digitone, you can get really deep with sound design, and you also have the arp. If you want some analog frequencies in the mix I would go with the Syntakt, but again if sonic diversity is the target... digitone all day!
@@VoltageCtrlRtv thanks a lot this helps confirm about the digitone. I have an erebus already so that is kinda my analog synth that I think i'll focus on. Stoked to dive in with the digi combo. Thanks again for the dope content!
I’m thinking of selling my MPC One which gets meh love due to its DAWness and my falling hard for Elektron (ST and now OTMK2 owner), and putting the funds towards A4MK2. My fave artists like A&P use it heavily and it’s inspired me. Only thing is I can also get a Hydra for less cash. Torn
The Hydra is awesome, but it's lack of a sequencer and only having one track is one my con list, but it makes up for it with it's sound design capabilities. The A4 is like a 4 track modular synth in a box.
I'm interested in getting this MK1 for acoustic/solo set, i was wondering if all my midi tracks on Ableton could be sync on the Analog Four (expl pads, leads, drums) and so i can modulate while playing my song live (rather that restarting and building them from scratch) does it come with a plugin as well?
My analog 4 keeps the gas at bay everytime im watching a video of new analogue synths im like can the a4 already do it 9 times out of 10 it can it would be cool if it had a proper sine wave rather than the way you can get one but love it great btw great trax peace
Burial made his music on an ancient pre-DAW so you bet your butt you can do wonky beats on Elektron devices. That said Burial only used samples back in the day so if you're going for that sound, a synth may not be the best.
@@Claidheambmor I'm actually on this buzz atm of combining dark garage beats with analog chords so the Elektron is also a candidate for the chords part, and I want to perform it live :D Yeah I'm not looking to emulate him, I use him as an example to gauge how flexible the drum patterns are as some cannot place beats in such a particular way, so you can't some odd grooves going.
LOL this is extra funny because you're actually a non playable character with zero content on your channel. You should create something with that vivid imagination, and free time that you have. Thanks for the laugh though, this is really funny! 😂
@@VoltageCtrlRtv “I only respect the opinions of people who slough out megatons of filler and I never let anything bother me,” said the NPC, clearly bothered.
How in the world do I pick an elektron product, there's too many options! I do hip-hop and r&b if that helps. I'm thinking my budget is between $350-1000
Well, you have sampling capabilities in the computer, if I was going to get hardware to complement the software I would go with the Syntakt or an Analog Four MK1... both are within your price range.
@@VoltageCtrlRtv lovely as sound FX in creative works, difficult for me when I try to grasp factual information ;) but I skipped to the sound demos, they are great! Thinking of getting an A4 currently, as I know a shop that still has it on offer for a significantly low price before the huge price jump electron's devices are takin these days...
