Elektron’s origins begin in 1998 with Swedish west-coast harbor town Gothenburg. The city’s rugged, industrial architecture contrasts with the stunning landscapes and nature preserves that surround it, cultivating a sort of uneasiness that positively challenges you to forge your own path through the paradoxically beautiful collision of natural and manmade terrains. This beats at the heart of Elektron’s ethos, operating at the intersection of producers, artists, and DJs, empowering them to craft a sound entirely their own. Their lauded drum machine has finally found a worthy successor: Digitakt II. Armed with detailed stereo sampling, expanded track counts, flexible MIDI integration, and Euclidean sequence generation, this barely scratches the surface of the long-awaited drum machine’s exciting percussive possibilities.
