How'd you go? Did you get one? Honestly I put mine back in the box for 6 months while I waited for OverBridge... now it's out I can't wait to get back into it :-)

Yes! Conditional Trig - it's super awesome. Also for doing things like "play a sample every 4 bars" or "only play this the first time the pattern is called". I held off on buying one because of cost too... but ultimately it really feels like an instrument which will last. I say that because I still have a desktop sampler from 15 years ago which would be amazing if only it were smaller with more memory... otherwise it's similar in many ways to the Elektron. So looking back vs. looking forward - in 15 years time I expect this to still be rocking it as a solid sampler / instrument. It's got enough sample space for 10 minutes of audio per set of 128 pattern banks (!), and room for more than 30 full sets of samples / pattern banks (which could hold a full set). The pure amount of storage means it'll last... as long as it doesn't go faulty :-o

Hello! Honestly, at the moment, this unit is the box I can recommend (especially when Overbridge comes out later this year). I had borrowed a little Korg Electribe before this and it was kinda fun too, but lacked the mad headphone amp and quality of the Elektron. I've also had a Volca Sample by my bed for the past 3 months before I got this, and while I can recommend it as a fun toy, the fact you can't make more than 8 tunes limits it massively, and you need to hold "mute" the whole time if using it live. Going back, I've had the Roland Groovebox units for years and the MC505 was particularly fun. It's drums are a little weak, but if you were to say, add a Volca kick to it via MIDI, the combo would be pretty crazy. If you could get one cheap, then it's pretty fun!! As for Synths, I use my Korg Triton tons for sampling from (especially for my Amiga tunes - DX Heaven is either DX7 or Triton sounds!) and my current favorite all-round mono synth is the MicroBrute (as heard in my live at MagFest videos). That with a delay pedal is unstoppable ;-) ... and as an intro to analogue synths, I've never come across a better unit. Hope that's of some help to you!

Oh wow! You got one :-D Yeah, the Digitakt is a lovely piece of gear. Sometimes I hold bits of equipment and go "wow - this is amazing in every way possible".
