I put an ESC70 in it and it works way better now! I usually run the ESC70 for brushed rigs and Castle for my brushless rigs… I really like being able to set my own custom throttle curves, and the fact that I can do that through Bluetooth with these makes it that much better. I run cheap radio systems, so I stick with the esc’s that allow throttle curve adjustments. Don’t have any complaints so far in my RC lifetime with either of these esc’s.

It’s hard to explain throttle curve well through text. You’re better off looking up a video on it. Basically it’s a graph where you can set your throttle up as a curve, or linear which is how it comes from the factory. I like to set mine up in a moderate curve where if I pull my trigger 50% the esc is only sending 30% to the motor. Which gives me a lot more room when slow crawling to finely moderate my throttle input. There are remotes/transmitters that allow you to set throttle expo, which is pretty much the same thing, but I don’t have any that do that. So I run ISDT ESC70 for brushed motors and Castle for brushless, they both have a Bluetooth feature to program the esc settings and they both have an option for a throttle curve graph. For anything more detailed than that, you’re better off looking up a video that can explain it better with visual aids.

Yea, there will definitely be a kit build in my future for sure… but my current financial situation dictates me not getting anything any time soon unfortunately. Such is life.

Thanks, much appreciated! As far as the Ecto goes, out of the box, the electronics are pretty much junk. An Amazon 35kg servo is a huge upgrade from stock. The rest of the truck itself is an awesome platform. It’s definitely one of the most capable crawlers on the market (in my opinion) other than the factory electronics. I’ve got more than a few videos here that show some of the crazy lines this thing can pull off that some of my other “built” rigs can’t even do. Definitely won’t regret getting an Ecto!

I’ve been going with the ISDT ESC70 for my brushed motors, just for the option of tuning the throttle curve. Hobbywing doesn’t offer that option, otherwise I probably would run their products.

It just depends whether you’re wanting crawling performance or just general trailing with some crawling here and there. If you’re wanting to build it into a crawler, you’ll probably want all new electronics, tires, and a little bit of weight down low on the front end. If you’re just doing trail running with occasional rock crawling, the electronics will probably be fine for a while, but you’ll still want better tires. Other than that, it is a solid rig out of the box, regardless of what you’re gonna be doing with it. Mine is the best performing crawler I’ve got, and I’ve definitely got the least amount of money invested in it compared to the others.

I guess you’d call them silver… grey, something along those lines. I’m not a big chrome guy. Glad they had these on that particular day, had wanted a set of slots for a while!

@@drz_rc cool I ordered the silver. Got my ecto. Put the fusion pro, proteck servo, rock pirate rc sliders, ssd knucles, tires and wheels on the way etc. It’s a great rig. 👍

I cut them out and sanded down the nubs that attached them to the roll bar. Definitely looks much better without those number plates!

@@drz_rc one last question. Do you know if they make metal transmission gears? I plan on putting a brushless fusion pro in it. Just wondering about the plastic gears. Thanks again!

I’m not sure what other gear options are out there, other than the optional 12% under drive gears that come with the truck, but I’m sure there are other options out there for it. You shouldn’t need it though, unless you start putting ridiculous power to it. I’m currently running a Castle Copperhead10 and 2280kv motor on 3s in mine, and it’s strong enough to handle that much abuse without an issue. I haven’t heard of an abnormal amount of people having trans issues from the SteathX, so I’d say you should be fine. If something does happen down the road, then maybe it’d be worth checking out, but I highly doubt you’ll have any issues with a fusion.
