The saga continues! Back-to-school prep has barely begun as I'm tackling a room refresh. I'm prepping for some painting (next video) and enjoying myself in the process. Also - I show off my new teacher backpack from Day Owl simply because I love it!

Love your videos, your editing is amazing!! I'm currently a junior in college majoring in Elementary Education. Do you have any tips for saving for your first classroom and any classroom essentials for new teachers? Thank you!

Hi Mela! Thank you! I don't necessarily have any tips for saving, I'd just encourage you to have a pro or a financially-savvy friend help with finances and see what you can budget for certain things. Social media is really bad about pressuring teachers into buying really cute things, but honestly.. I think the saddest part about the cute things is that they often take a lot of time to prepare (cutting, laminating, hanging up, building, etc.). I fell victim to feeling like I had to have a perfect classroom, but it also cost me a lot of meaningful time with my loved ones. The first year is already stressful enough - so do whatever you can to research classroom management strategies, hone in written and verbal communication skills, and maybe pick one subject area to really focus on the next couple of years and do the best you can in the others right off of the bat. That's just off of the top of my head! - Just know that it won't be easy and it will feel overwhelming, but I PROMISE it gets better as you go! Best of luck!

Really cute cards and nice ideas for the classroom which I like since I'm a secondary English/Social Studies/Music teacher so I look for different ideas to get my set up going for a new year and yours are helpful to students and so adorable. Tysm!

One of the activities that I do with my students at the beginning of the year is for them to list five goals that they would like to accomplish in class. They can be academic or behavioral goals. Thank gou for your video presentation.

I read "No Excuses" by Wayne Dyer to my class every year and talk about the different parts of the brain and how they help you learn. (5th grade) They are fascinated!! I'll be a Math Interventionist this year so my beginning of year will look really different than the past 24. Lol Wishing you much fun and joy with your kiddos. Love your videos.
