It is really crucial to observe the comeback of Emma Raducanu. She was supposed to end up 2023 season in the earlier period due to her strict injury. She hasn't taken part in an official tourney and not playing any clash since spring season of 2023. Raducanu really looks confident, potent and resilient but she needs more time to reach the pinnacle in the following months.

Good friends or not Gabriela was going into this Match on 2 matches played and won, not having spent 8 Months out injured, ranked 134 (Doubles 39) while this was Emma,s first competitive match in 8 Months and currently ranked 301. On paper this looked like a good chance for Gabriela to win their first competitive encounter so a tough one to loose but an encouraging first R1 win for Emma. I wasn't expecting to see fireworks from Emma but she looked faster and prepared to run for balls that she previously might have let go, something she remarked upon herself in the post match interview and I have a feeling that when looking at what she could improve on. Emma notching up 5 Double faults is not customary and I suspect some butterflies and being tighter than she wanted to be. On to R2 and up against Elina Svitolina the current 25 in the World which should be a bridge too far at this early stage in her comeback but looking forwards to it.

Ruse should have gotten a hinderance warning. She was clearly elongated her grunt well past the ball strike and holding it until the ball bounced on Radu's side of the court. Corny stunt stuff and the ump should have shut it down in the first set.

So many clowns in the comments section that didn’t watch the match and don’t understand Tennis 😂 Emma can generate significant power on the forehand and backhand when she chooses to.. she just doesn’t do it consistently, which I’m sure she’s working on. Great to see Emma back 🙏🏻 It wasn’t a great match from her but she still managed to pull out the win. Sometimes it’s the messy victories that count the most, I’m sure she’ll play a lot freer against Svitolina tomorrow.
