Well, when I first see this, it appears to be... an adaptation. Perhaps she isn't literally the queen of the night; why, in Der Hölle Rache, she is in a kitchen, complete with refrigerator and wielding a kitchen knife instead of a dagger. And secondly, the tone of the opera isn't her approaching Tamino as a queen, but as a mother that is distraught about her daughter. I think that holds true with any version of the opera. just my two cents. :)
Did I SAY it was bad? The staging is horrible, or at least the concept of the production. At the beginning though, it just seems her voice has a lot more depth than usual Queen of the Nights, but I guess that's because there's fewer dramatic colouraturas singing this role nowadays?
shes a wonderful singer, but i think it's gross that she apparently screws tamino at the end of the song and then tamino ends up with her daughter, pamina. thats kinda gross.
Horrible costumes and scenery! Terrible! How dare they slow the tempo in that part?! If the soprano can't do it, I'm so sorry for her, but one must not slow the tempo of O zittre nich! A crime!
