In this vid,The pace of the orchestra is a bit slow which is a change coz most conductors rush it-they get too excited with the action, I guess.What the slowing of pace allows is The expression of Some beautiful coloratura from Elena and some accuracy in hitting those F6 which she does nicely, here.From 3:30 to 3:40 where she is giving her daughter the frosty gaze to the bit where Julia opens the fridge again and says thank christ she s gone I find chillingly good.
I fully agree with you, Iast year I went all the way from Brazil to see a production of Händel's Giulio Cesare in Salzburg with a fantastic cast (Sophie von Otter, Cecilia Bartoli, Philipe Jarouswki, and the staging was beyond description, terrorists, Giulio Cesare as a presidente of a EU country and at the end Cleópatra and Giulio Cesare and everyone else celebrated drinking Champagne and smoking marijuana, I wanted to ask for a refund, it was disgusting (there were many boos at the end...)
I love her, have her cds and everything, but if I had paid money to see this production I would have been pissed especially with how the slow tempo murdered this aria
Sicher, die Inszenierung ist schlecht, da gibt es für mich keinen Zweifel. Ich möchte den Fokus auf die sängerische Leistung legen und diese ist wunderbar. Ich kenne keine Sängerin, welche vermag das hohe F so lange zu halten. Ich finde es unverschämt zu behaupten, dass die Partie zu groß für sie wäre, wer so ein Quatsch redet, der hat keine Ahnung. An Mosucs Leistung kommt auch keine Damrau heran. Die Stimmfarbe ist außerdem dramatisch, das höre ich bei Frau Damrau nicht.

Wo kocht da der Hölle Rache im Herzen? Elena ist zu sehr damit beschäftigt die Höhen zu erreichen, als dass sie noch spielen könnte. Die Rolle ist für sie, wie für die meisten Sängerinnen zu groß. Heute kann diese Rolle wohl nur Diana adäquat singen.
Sorry, but the role and the extreme f1-f3 aria was written for Mozart's sister in law who was a Viennese girl from Austria and by no means a german valkyrie;) That Elena Mosuc's voice doesn't seem to have the power to get the right tempo and even though it looks painstakingly difficult for her to get to f3 and quickly down again and it doesn't sound right is a different story. Just listen to Edita Gruberova's interpretation from the 80's for example and you'll know what I mean...
